Senior Outsider is back! It was good to work with my dad at the cabin site once again. Putting in a good day's work in the midst of nature is something that we both needed to do. Later on, my brother joined up with us to lend a hand. More than ever, we have realised the need to come together as a family; to share the workload, and to help each other shoulder the burdens of life.

My sympathies on the passing of Mamma Outsider.
I know that she would have been VERY proud of the progress on the cabin, and especially proud of the way the two of you work together.
When you get close to done, make at least one element of the cabin the way she would have suggested...it doesn't have to be huge, something small and subtle will be the thing you see every day, that reminds you of her.
When my mom died, I kept a bottle of the perfume she wore every day. It didn't take away the pain, but it makes me smile. I'll bet that there is something you can do her way in the cabin, and I'll bet it will make you smile.
Take care of yourselves.
Words cannot express the sadness you feel. But many are with you and your father. Prayers for you and your family.

Great to see the three of you together working...nothing heals a broken heart like time with loved ones. All three of you here, all because of her.
I kinda choked up at the beginning but after seeing those amazing slabs of spalted maple and all the cool comments here it's been bittersweet.

you know your right you don't really need reply's god put work here to occupy our minds and to heal and family to support the work makes it easier this family will still remember there mom and wife and he when seeing his sons time is best used when busy you don't dwell they will see something and either say mom would do it this way or mom would say that or they will think it.
I am so sorry for your families loss. I really liked your channel before …but now seeing your episode on your mothers passing and your wife’s battle with a host of health issues, I have to say I like it even more and am amazed by your courage and strength . I love how open you have been. Know how much it helps others deal with loss and the poor health of loved ones. Keep praying, keep on taking one step at a time, and KNOW the Lord is with you and your entire family. You guys are amazing humans and I know God is proud of you all and the example you have set. Keep the faith.

Welcome back to you and your dad and your brother! I've been all summer Cuttin Up native maple that's been dead for 20 years at my friend Chuck place. They had to cut them down because they got dangerous in a windstorm next to a road. I've been cutting 16 truck loads 45 in rounds at 16 in when I split them I find beautiful bird's-eye maple in each round may peace be with you

Glad to see your dad is back theres nothing better than spending time with your father my dad passed away in 2015 we used to spend time doing carpentry and french polishing as that was his job we enjoyed carp fishing together aswell i enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one

The spalting on that maple should make for a stunningly beautiful project if it is still solid enough to be usable.
I have some small spalted maple pieces in my garage to try making something on the lathe with. Got them from a friend that also watches your channel that turned a bowl from a larger piece and it turned out beautifully.

Good to hear! In addition to making some sort of table with the slabs, my brother is hoping to turn some bowls from the wood we got out of that maple as well. I've always loved how the grain of a tree is showcased when it is turned on the lathe.
