There are several ways to avoid damage from Waterfowl Dance, but asking the average player to intuit any of them is... a bit much, tbh. The sequence of actions required is so strange and specific when compared to essentially every other enemy and attack in the game, it's like you are playing a really hard game of DDR where halfway through the song, it suddenly switches to Blitz Chess against Magnus Carlsen, where losing means you fail the whole thing, but winning just means you get to switch back to DDR to continue the song.

@@connerSphotography yeah no, good armor and stamina helps a ton for her and especially the enemies near her. He has bad armor and 37 vigor when at his level he could be in the bull goat set with 60+ vigor. I took 2 backstabs and survived from the invisible guys at his level and I had the same main weapon only I didn’t waste 30+ points in arcane when my primary weapon didn’t scale with it. He’s wasting a bunch of stats and getting upset that his chat is suggesting things to help. With how bad his stats are he should probably pick up a bow for situations like this one, they even scale with the same stats as his current weapons so there’s no downside. If anyone sees this later then know that this is the play for sure.

My man is about 78 hours in and he still has not noticed the debuff Fia's hug gave to his Hp XD. And 5:42:56 damn this was so close but PointCrow was just half a sec faster 5:44:41 but Malenia was just let him see the cutscene before ending it.
He has acknoledged it and just refuses to get rid of it.

i'm here after his first game completion, so I KNOW Crow beats her and everything after.... but the fact that he has a Soreseal on this whole time has SO much to do with his death rate. Like half of the game with a self-damage-taken debuff
And super low vigor combined with it. Painful. Should have 60+ fighting her.

on my first elden ring playtrhough(4 years after last souls game) my most death were agaisnt the 2 prebosses b4 radahn and i had 27 , all other were not that bad but he has 1300 .

only way to get through waterfowl dance is to shield it, learn an extremely difficult tracking manipulation movement, or dodge it with light roll plus the roll-boost talisman. or just keep rolling the dice until you do both phases without her using it, or she doesn’t ohko you with it.
Bloodhound step works too if you can’t learn the dodge out then in pattern. Shield is only recommended if your weapon is cheesy like rivers of blood since you can outpace the heal she gets from it afterwards. I also had luck with falling star beast jaw and moonveil but it was a bit harder on those playthroughs.

What makes this boss fight hard is the way they made the AI for the boss fight. Compared to the others she's the only one that doesn't fit how the other bosses combat AI is programmed
she's also the only humanoid boss in the soulsborne games that can interrupt her own poise break stagger to dodge and retaliate. or at least that's what I keep reading when people talk about her.

@@shantakidd6230 stagger/flinch and poise break are not the same, also her poise break recovery is naturally really fast.

This is the one boss that I can genuinely say is unfair. Her waterfowl dance move is COMPLETE nonsense. I just beat her today, thanks to the x10 Mimic Tear, which acts as a second target for her waterfowl to hone in on. But I didn’t even feel good when it was done, I was just relieved it was over.
Waterfowl isn't unfair at all, it's actually easy to dodge once you figure out the pattern to it. Roll away from the first flurry, roll towards the second flurry, roll away from the third flurry. Works every time. Took me less than 2 hours of attempts to beat her.
@@8Pixels You can also do the giga chad dodge and do a small circle under her feet as she jumps up to bait her water fowl in another direction and then you can dodge the second flurry and let the third go straight pass you.
She isn't unfair, just extremely difficult. Respect for From putting a mythic-level boss into a game in 2022. I went into her fight knowing she was insanely difficult and so I enjoyed the challenge.
No yes she is actually unfair, people here saying otherwise are just wrong lmao, I’m at ng+3 right now and have witnessed several times she dodging the poise break animation, yes she can do that because of her animation cancel dodge things, Waterfoul is not really unfair it’s just really hard to get used to, but her AI in general is programmed in such a way that breaks the game mechanics
I agree, I honestly think it’s artificial difficulty cause it’s only one move that makes her difficult the rest is just very easy to dodge

The way to avoid the parasocial stuff is to stop engaging in it. If you talk to the chat, they will talk back. If you ask for comments you will get them. If you try to act like the viewers friend they will think you are. You can't say you want to be a TV show where interaction isn't possible but then interact. Lock these comments and don't respond to chat and this will all go away real fast.
More vigor my guy, also now you know what build you're aiming for so just go back to renala and respec.

@@joshuaalmaraz5348no, even if you used summons (real ppl or ai) and you be at the boss like that, you still “beat it” dont gate-keep.
What's so hard about Malenia? It didn't take me too long to beat her with rivers of blood in like July. I found fire giant more annoying
rivers of blood was grossly overpowered, try fighting her for at least five minutes without dying.
Rivers of blood is the most overpowered weapon in the game, it's even more overpowered than using black knight weapons in DS1
I played for hours upon hours getting trashed. Then I did a respec and used rivers of blood. Took me 1 attempt after that.

Yeah what’s so hard about her? I only used the most op weapon in the game (pre nerf) but she was totally easy! Sorry I just find it funny when people use overpowered weapons and then say the game is easy.
