WOW this is exactly how I felt. I ordered a decant (try before you buy) and first couple of sniffs I hated it. Then it started growing on me and by the time I finished by 5ml decant I knew I have to have it. It has been a month since I bought it and it has seen some serious usage.
I am up and down with this one. Some days love it , other times wish I reached for something else. Definitely try before you buy…..that being said. I bought
Also - my two most recent purchases were this and tobacco Oud by Tom ford. You should definitely get your hands on that frag if you haven’t smelled it. People say it’s hard to wear but I think it’s very easy
I get a really ripe banana with a boozy scent. It takes time to grow on you but once you make a connection it good. I feel it more for a date night. I don’t feel like it’s a dark fragrance, but for some odd reason, I feel like it would wear well with the black leather jacket. And it gives a top tier niche vibe.
Just tried this last week and it absolutely wowed me. I went in thinking that it’ll be dark and dirty because of the guy it’s named after but it’s a super refined fruity rum cake. You can immediately tell it’s quality and a lot more versatile that what some people have described
When I tried Carlisle 6 years ago I thought the same as you. Very wearable and easy fragrance, although I wasn't a fan of the smell I wore Layton, akaster and pegasus instead
Sorry to hear bout your Carlisle. When I first tried Iommi it came off as really dark and sweet to me. Very Carmel smelling. I’m not fully sure if I want a full bottle yet. When I wore Oud Maracuja it really put me off at first as well. But when it dried down it became a must buy!!
Iommi MS is a trip. You really can’t tell the story of this fragrance from its opening. I feel there are three phases to this one. I have a decant and have only smelled this on my test strips, as I haven’t had a situation to wear it in the short time I’ve had it. Phase one smells old school gentleman’s salon. Like really old school. A salon that The Great Gatsby might frequent, or Lucky Luciano. About 45 minutes to an hour later I came back to it and was surprised to find almost all the masculinity had disappeared, replaced with a strong rose, makeup bag scent. That really threw me for a loop and I was a little disappointed with the turn it took. After another hour, or longer, I came back to find that the rose had almost completely receded and a distinctive patchouli had taken over. This would remain as the final and longest lasting characteristic in this fragrance’s scent cycle and this is also from where I got the strongest rock & roll vibes. It’s a very interesting scent and I look forward to actually wearing it soon.
Like yourself I like the opening but also worry about the overpowering nature of it in confined spaces. This is definitely one of those fragrances that is unique and over time I’ve come to love it. Not enough to splurge on a 100ml bottle though😂😂😂I’ll stick with my 50ml.
Haven’t tried the later but Burlington I’d say it’s up to the end user. I didn’t like Burlington enough to want to wear it I felt the cumin was off balance and it bothered me. A lot of people enjoy it tho so it’s possibly worth trying.
I thought I just hated cumin but turns out I enjoy Rose 31 and Overture Man quite a bit. I retried Burlington and it just feels like the cumin isn’t supposed to be in it at all. I’ll be honest though I don’t really like a lot of the Roja fragrances I’ve tried. They usually feel pretty off to me so it’s prolly a personal preference thing.
@@austinsmarr34 FWIW I don’t get anything remotely in the same atmosphere, planet, or dimension that makes me think old lady at all. That being said, it’s also 100% not blind buy safe.
@CgScents I love your channel. Everyone of these fragrance influencers act like everything is a 10 it annoys me but you and your wife have great perspective on this genre. Keep up the good work!!!!!
No issues. Like I said don’t overthink it and don’t over spray and you’re fine it smells good especially in the dry down it’s not an offensive scent or one that’s so weird it’ll confuse people it smells great. That’s a reasonable price I think I paid $265 for mine.
This one smells like coffee cake with banana puree to me. Or A*Men with overripe banana. Intriguing, but I don't like smelling like banana so not for me
@@DuSeun it’s interesting you say that someone told me I smell like coffee and whiskey yesterday. Once they said that I totally detected the coffee lol.
So I wrote this from recollection of last winter. Bought a new sample, and while it still reminds me of A*Men, this stuff is incredibly fun and signature worthy. Crazy how taste can change
@@DuSeun yeah I really didn’t feel it at first now it’s an absolute top for me. It’s fun, loud, and to me it smells good. The performance and unique factor I love.
@CgScents Thanks for your reply! It's great to see that you keep in touch with your audience. I 100% agree, I also noticed how cosy it actually is, so with 1 spray it's a great Netflix and chill fragrance too. I was put off by the heavy top smell at first and wrote it off too quickly, but after a few wearings the top is interesting, and then makes way for an inviting but mysterious dark scent. 10/10 in my book
It is a super-memorable (and somewhat polarising) note for sure. I recently tried Monkey Special and Oud Maracuja in store and was amazed that none of the people behind the counter understood what I was talking about when I mentioned how similar they were from top to mid. I suspect different people have different sensitivities to the sulphuric aspects of certain exotic fruity notes. Some people also have difficulty discerning the characteristic aspects of blackcurrant components (cassis abs, cassis 345B, 345F). I wonder how many of the people who find Oud Maracuja similar to Ombre Nomade simply cannot smell the dominant passionfruit note in the former...
you know i swear the God, have you ever heard expression the first instinct is usually the right one ?? You know how you said at first you didn't like it at all and you d give it a 3 ?? That means most people around you wont like t. yes-the cologne society and cologne people can appreciate it, but the general public, the 99 % of the people that dont actually wear cologne ,wont like it. Now if you re going for a walk or movies or shop and you don't care, by all means. But i cant wear somethin like this to work ( Office) or to a hockey rink. or tennis match..special occasions. For $ 350 ?? I d rather grab something I TOTALLY love. Unless you print money. . When I dont love something at first sniff, I dont bother anymore. to make myself liking it.
Monkey Special is one of my favorite fragrances. One of the most unique and pleasurable scents I’ve ever smelled. I rotate between this one and Naxos.
Wore this to a concert last night and it fit the vibe
Delighted you finally got it. It's my all time favourite Xerjoff!

It’s still hot here in Texas but I’ve been wearing it around the house quite a bit. Can’t wait to put a dent in this bottle lol.

What do you think is best fresh citrus niche fragrance for men
My favorites are Vibrato and Wulong Cha
@@milanlata1073 FdB 200% overpriced. Doesn’t mean they are bad but not worth IMO. Very few would even be worth a partial bottle buy.
I'm very curious what you think about the Deified version

Do not blind this one / it smell like cigarettes too me, I hope over time it grows on me. Also my co worker say I smell good when wearing it.

This was a no for me the sharpness of the Rose reminded me of More than Words which I also disliked..
Bruh how have you not tried a passion fruit before? 😂 I think you should
Is that even possible? 😅 i thought passion fruit was a pretty common fruit worldwide
I’m going to prioritize finding this fruit and do a review on it 😅 I’m in Texas
