I've repaired Macbook Pro and PC Laptops, and smartphones. And working with Litihum-ion batteries in both I can tell you from experience they are NOT reliable. These batteries degrade over time and eventually will NOT be able to hold a charge. I've had several of these batteries change in composition based on power surges or temprature changes. Some of these batteries on a temprature change from warm to cold would just DIE. Or they would become so unstable that they become puffy and bloated where the gasses from the chemicals that make them up have a bad reaction. In both cases I'd be forced to replace these batteries in my Macbook Pros. These batteries don't last long in laptops and cellphones with daily use, and EV batteries will have a high failure rate in cars during a commute.
EV techology is NOT ready for consumer use in vehicles. There is not enough information on Litihum Ion batteries to understand how they'll work long term or to see if they'll maintain a charge over a period of years. And there's no infrastructure to support them across the country. There are multiple reports of these unstable batteries causing fires in homes here in NYC in e-bikes, and multiple reports of folks getting their homes burnt down from these unstable lithium ion batteries. ICE engines are much more stable and can easily run long distances and can be refeuled easily due to an infrastructure of gas stations and repair shops where ICE owners can find parts to repair them.

The software takes care of that. You cant charge of discharge without the internal software setting limits. And yes after 150k milles you have to replace the battery for about 11k. Most tesla owners don't care, they will do it.

@@thabg007Also an rc enthusiast that’s actually how I found this dudes channel from the old train videos haha, but yes most forms of batteries don’t hold charge very good at the end of the day, I’m not a very “techy” guy and I know this.

I would say that I had issues with my car when I had to rent a vehicle at the last minute to make it to work. Hertz didn't have any vehicles available except electric vehicles. They put me in a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV. When I was returning the vehicle, my town had a power outage where some EV kiosks were out of order. I'm a couple of miles from the car rental center, and I'm driving to 4 different places to find an EV charger.
I don't think California could make the transition of every new car after 2035 to be electric cars because there is no infrastructure to set up charging stations for non-Tesla EVs.

The EV’s are nothing but mechanical junk, and most certainly a safety hazard. There’s videos of these cars malfunctioning and even catching on fire I’ll never get rid of my fuel operated vehicle for a EV.

I been to Montana a few times. As a matter of fact, i was in Montana last month. It does get extra cold in Montana. I been in Montana where it was -15°F with a wind chill of -60°F. Now i seen people idling their cars while they are in Walmart or at the mall. But not causr of the battery. They idle their cars to have the inside heated. They don't want to get into a cold freezing car. They want it nice warm and comfortable when they get inside their car

I own a honda, camaro and corvette. All gas, all pre 2010. I will get no vehicle after that date.

This is an excellent argument for “if ain’t broke don’t try to fix it”🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m all for technological advances but I agree with you, I am not convinced EV’s are practical or reliable at this point. Give me a good old gasoline ⛽️ vehicle.😎

I rented tons of EVs in the past 2 years. What's stopping me from owning an EV is the repair costs are higher (a Tesla battery outside of warranty cost $30,000 to replace) , insurance is higher, and I have to adapt to "trip planning". I did a drive from Oakland CA to Reno NV, and was going to rent a Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor, but decided to rent a gas-powered SUV.

A classic analysis! I also want to note that most electricity produced comes from natural gas or coal. So, they may call ICE vehicles Internal Combustion.... These are just External Combustion.

Even the lead/acid battery in my gas powered car was cranking hard in the cold weather this winter.

Yeah ive been to Finland where 60% of the population drivers teslas... Do you think they would buy a car that doesnt charge in the scandavian winter? The problem with EVs is range and electrical charging infrastructure. Whoever solves that problem will become a mega trillionaire.
