    Thanks so much for this video, I really appreciate it. Another thing that's important to mention is the Alderon Games Modding Agreement prohibits modders restricting their mod access via paywalls. There's also a giant modding wiki and loads of tutorials we've made that lowers the barrier to entry for newcomers who don't know anything about Unreal Engine (its currently private but will be made public when the dev kit is made public).

    Pot is the best dino survival game for me purely from the freedom it gives.
    Not only are modded dinos awesome, but my favorite detail if that you can even tweak the stats of official dinos on your own servers. Dinos like Amargasaurus and Iguadon can have their shortcomings manually fixed by the community.

    • @alexs29
      @alexs29 Год назад +1

      But the core gameplay experience is still absolute garbage. Combat is awful with no sense of added weight. A lot of dinosaurs still lack unique abilities such as pouncing, grappling, kockdowns, knockbacks, so on and so forth. Questing is absolutely atrocious on all levels and growing & mark-collecting is a time-wasting slog with little end-game payoff.
      The PoT devs threw in modding because they know they can't deliver a competent core gameplay experience to make up for it - or at least they won't be able to for a while. There's a reason why the vast majority of their community swapped over to community servers - and it isn't just due to the modding scene. People don't actually want to deal with terrible core gameplay loop, and it really shows.

    I 100% agree with everything that's just been said. Modding the best thing that the devs of path of titans have ever done. It's gives the game a whole new life and makes the game even more popular because of the endless.amount of creatures that modders can bring to the game. I also think that bringing the game to consoles was a very smart move as well....while also making it accessible to pc players, switch users and mobile. And the decision to do so has made Path of titans accessible to a lot more people than the Isle at this point. Yes the Isle has a strong community, but its only available for pc players, and ever since Path of titans launched on consoles, switch and mobile, the games population has increased probably beyond the devs expectations.
    Path of titans has become a dream come true for me. It really has. I'm on the game almost every day, and I'm always in the discord engaging with the games community. This game is slowly but surely getting bigger and bigger, and i know the game is still in its early stages, but if the game is how it is right now, just imagine what it will look like and play like in 10 years time.

    For me I think PoT prioritizes being a game before being a visual masterpiece. The Isle has an issue where the devs will spend a lot of time on a small hand full of creatures to get them incredibly polished but that small handful doesn’t offer a lot in terms of gameplay. They talk about having a ton of neat mechanics/creatures lined up but by the time they get a little polish in, the rebuild all their mechanics after Dondi sees some other Dino game making a cool mechanic. They will have models, sound, animations and so much shit made only for it to be scrapped! They have so many models on hand that are very well designed but will probably forever go unused!! Stick to what you built and change it when the project can actually be called a game! 😂

    The modding potential and encouragement in PoT is the main reason why I believe it has the best chance out of any of the dinosaur games to succeed. I don't understand the crowd that calls mods "chaotic" at all. Skyrim has plenty of chaotic mods that change the experience to something unintended, but guess what? They're entirely optional. It is the player's choice to add the things that they want to THEIR game. Compare it to something like Dead by Daylight that has zero modding support: the game is good but is stagnating due to poor chapter releases. DbD has a timed life, PoT can potentially live forever. I find myself even going back occasionally to Skyrim and Garry's Mod to this day to check out the new mods.
