There isn't many hammer films I haven't seen but this is one of them , it's a blind buy gamble if I purchase this , it looks like a fantastic edition 😍👌🏻

I got my copy yesterday too - the box set is even better than expected. I look forward to looking at the entire set in more detail over the next few days. The comic book was originally in Quality comic’s House of Hammer which was published by Dez, I got these magazine and still have them.. Brilliant. - look forward to next releases which will include non horror titles such as Dick Barton. As you rightly say this edition must be in the running for disc/set if the year. Thank you.🎉🎉🎉😊

Fantastic video as always John, really enjoyed watching it as always. That is one hell of a release, Hammer have really knocked it out of the ballpark with this one. Can't remember the last time I saw Captain Kronos, might have been on the TV many many years ago. Hoping one day they might do something special with one of my all time favorite Hammer films, The Devil Rides Out with Christopher Lee.

Hi John great video. I was sent an email late last night. Mine arrived today as well. Well worth 50 quid. In a Hammer news letter today, they indicated Dick Barton Special Agent was coming. They also said not all new 4k releases would be as big, but it would depend on the film, and available materials. The wrap around is not stuck to the box. Thanks again for the video.

Amazing 😃 Update: The graphic novel included is an exact reproduction from the original "Hammer's Halls of Horror", with a bit of trimming to fit the smaller pages. There's also Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter: A Hammer Horror Sequel, from The House of Hammer.

@MondoChelloveckMovies it's just the cinemascope type ratio on the 4k disc unfortunately. I see a new reissue for Kraftwerk's Autobahn has just been announced. There's a 7" single, a picture disc of the album plus a blu ray audio version. I will be ordering the blu ray from SUPER DELUXE EDITION as it comes with an exclusive slip cover. Take care. Gaz.

It's a lot of money Stu I agree but wow this is definitely worth it!! I've bought things for around the £50 mark or there abouts and they don't have half of the stuff of this set 👏👏 thanks for watching Stu and I think there is definitely a lot more they are going to release in the future, good calls for those titles, I'll be interested to know how rights issues affects their releases... The only thing I heard them say is that the elements would base the releases, so if the elements aren't original negatives then they would probably not put it out in a lavish set like Kronos 👍 but it's very interesting to see how they go for sure Stu 🤔🤩🤩👍👍
Caved in and bought this yesterday. Just can’t miss out on the first Hammer 4K release. So glad I did it actually looks worth the money. It reminds me of some of those bulkier Second Sight releases. Any news on what might be next from Hammer? Anniversary wise we have a few options: - Quatermass Xperiment - Brides of Dracula - Scars of Dracula - Horror of Frankenstein - The Vampire Lovers Edit: I wish we’d get all the Bond films (individually) this way, in big deluxe packaging.
Yeah it's completely worth the cash (and more!!!) no definite news about what's next although they say will be many more which is brilliant to hear!! They did mention Sci-fi so that could point to Quatermass 🤞🤞🤞🤩🤩 Scars is coming out by Kino Lorber in 4k this year 👍👍 but I would have any of them on this anniversary 😁😁 the Bond films are touted for 4k so I'm imagining they would put some work into the packaging 🤞🤞 cheers again for watching mate 🤩🤩👍👍

WOW what an amazing set ,I got an email today from hammer with some details about the other releases that are coming out this year .Here is an excerpt of the interview . Hammer News: Hammer releasing Captain Kronos surprised a lot of people. Steve Rogers: Hammer releasing titles on their own label rather than licensing out to third parties is definitely something new, but it's the only way that we could ensure these releases are definitive - and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we've had on Kronos proves it was the right way to go. HN: Will there be more? SR: There certainly will be more. Hammer are deep into a rolling project to restore the archive in 4K and releasing these restorations as highly collectable, limited-run 4K/Blu-ray sets allows us to present these definitive editions to fans and collectors who prefer their films on physical media rather than streaming, though they'll be available that way also. And, on certain titles, limited theatrical release. HN: Really? SR: Yes. Captain Kronos will be back in certain cinemas with a new Dolby 5.1 audio mix for a limited time to coincide with its release on 4K/Blu-ray. HN: The Captain Kronos 4K/Blu-ray set is a big release. Will they all be that size? SR: Though they will all be definitive collector's editions, not all will be the same size as Kronos. The box set size will vary depending on the popularity of the film being released, the materials available and so on. Using Dick Barton: Special Agent as an example, there would only be one version of the film (as it was made before widescreen and there are no foreign versions), no separate sound elements to create 5.1s, no comic adaptations, etc. Though there's much we can do with the supporting materials to create a definitive release it obviously won't end up the same size as Kronos. So these releases will definitely go beyond the core Horrors that everyone loves? SR: They certainly will. The discs perhaps suggest that any "standard" release would be in the Arrow style, where you can either buy the 4k discs or the bluray discs. I wonder if they'd include the bonus disc or just keep then 2 disc versions...or maybe they wouldn't even include the 2 discs for the films. Or maybe there won't be any standard edition! As someone who has never seen this I really hope there is, as I can't justify getting such a big expensive box.

Nice to see a careful unboxing. I was holding my breath, waiting to see if you were going to tear the paper band around the lobby cards. It drives me crazy when people do that, or they break the spine of the booklet to show photos.
@@garyrichardson475 I can honestly say that some unboxings make me hide my eyes Gary 🫣🫣 yeah I've learned to bend the cards slightly to get the paper band off and on easily (most of the times) breaking a spine is quite a bad one as well 😵😵 my top ones are stuffing something in a box, throwing a box down, taking a cover out to reverse the cover but not really taking your time with it 😱😱 yeah only takes a few extra seconds to make your set last for a lot longer Gary 😁😁👍👍
Dracula lives....tomb of Dracula etc etc was a marvel production drawn by gene colan. A great artist sadly not with us anymore. I have them all in colour 70 plus issues and reprinted as a marvel weekly comic in the uk at 10p per week. I have over 2 3rds of those and are lovely in b&w as gene did fantastic fog type line work. My Kronos arrived today. Sadly I was not 1 of the early 250 orders but man....what a box set. Excelsior sir

Hi Simon I have a video on here talking about the protectors and I get them from Steelbook Central 👍👍 I've measured up the Kronos set and the closest size I can see that fits is an SCF18, it'll be a snug fit, and no other cases from Steelbook Central will be near the size of the Kronos set, hope this helps Simon 🤩👍👍
It was early hours and thought it showed the end not side captain Kronos on each end and I saw Hammer written on the side the next morning, but I've got carried away and got the Frighteners turbine set,the cell, love and honey 2, Vesper, exorcist 3, chronicles of riddick, Kubo, Constantine x2 and a few others bought over Christmas,all boxsets,Top of my list wish is strange days 4k, one vlogger said it's never been on blu ray even, I have 2 including the good EU release, and 350+ 3D blue ray, I need to stop,on another note I watched alien Romulus on Disney plus, really dark picture and the audio is awful through TV without my avr on

Looked like an amazing set!!…I think it’s a really good film and an original take on the vampire myth/folklore, its not one of my favourite Hammer Horror films but it’s still really enjoyable x

I got my copy yesterday too - the box set is even better than expected. I look forward to looking at the entire set in more detail over the next few days. The comic book was originally in Quality comic’s House of Hammer which was published by Dez, I got these magazine and still have them..

Hi John great video. I was sent an email late last night. Mine arrived today as well. Well worth 50 quid. In a Hammer news letter today, they indicated Dick Barton Special Agent was coming. They also said not all new 4k releases would be as big, but it would depend on the film, and available materials. The wrap around is not stuck to the box. Thanks again for the video.

The graphic novel included is an exact reproduction from the original "Hammer's Halls of Horror", with a bit of trimming to fit the smaller pages. There's also Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter: A Hammer Horror Sequel, from The House of Hammer.

@MondoChelloveckMovies it's just the cinemascope type ratio on the 4k disc unfortunately. I see a new reissue for Kraftwerk's Autobahn has just been announced. There's a 7" single, a picture disc of the album plus a blu ray audio version. I will be ordering the blu ray from SUPER DELUXE EDITION as it comes with an exclusive slip cover. Take care. Gaz.

It's a lot of money Stu I agree but wow this is definitely worth it!! I've bought things for around the £50 mark or there abouts and they don't have half of the stuff of this set 👏👏 thanks for watching Stu and I think there is definitely a lot more they are going to release in the future, good calls for those titles, I'll be interested to know how rights issues affects their releases... The only thing I heard them say is that the elements would base the releases, so if the elements aren't original negatives then they would probably not put it out in a lavish set like Kronos 👍 but it's very interesting to see how they go for sure Stu 🤔🤩🤩👍👍

Caved in and bought this yesterday. Just can’t miss out on the first Hammer 4K release. So glad I did it actually looks worth the money. It reminds me of some of those bulkier Second Sight releases.

Yeah it's completely worth the cash (and more!!!) no definite news about what's next although they say will be many more which is brilliant to hear!! They did mention Sci-fi so that could point to Quatermass 🤞🤞🤞🤩🤩 Scars is coming out by Kino Lorber in 4k this year 👍👍 but I would have any of them on this anniversary 😁😁 the Bond films are touted for 4k so I'm imagining they would put some work into the packaging 🤞🤞 cheers again for watching mate 🤩🤩👍👍

Hammer News: Hammer releasing Captain Kronos surprised a lot of people.
Steve Rogers: Hammer releasing titles on their own label rather than licensing out to third parties is definitely something new, but it's the only way that we could ensure these releases are definitive - and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we've had on Kronos proves it was the right way to go.
HN: Will there be more?
SR: There certainly will be more. Hammer are deep into a rolling project to restore the archive in 4K and releasing these restorations as highly collectable, limited-run 4K/Blu-ray sets allows us to present these definitive editions to fans and collectors who prefer their films on physical media rather than streaming, though they'll be available that way also. And, on certain titles, limited theatrical release.
HN: Really?
SR: Yes. Captain Kronos will be back in certain cinemas with a new Dolby 5.1 audio mix for a limited time to coincide with its release on 4K/Blu-ray.
HN: The Captain Kronos 4K/Blu-ray set is a big release. Will they all be that size?
SR: Though they will all be definitive collector's editions, not all will be the same size as Kronos. The box set size will vary depending on the popularity of the film being released, the materials available and so on.
Using Dick Barton: Special Agent as an example, there would only be one version of the film (as it was made before widescreen and there are no foreign versions), no separate sound elements to create 5.1s, no comic adaptations, etc. Though there's much we can do with the supporting materials to create a definitive release it obviously won't end up the same size as Kronos.
HN: So what sort of content will you include alongside the film itself?
SR: It will vary by title, obviously, but archive interviews and other existing content where possible, alongside new commentaries, interviews, featurettes, booklets and more. We've been very lucky in both our contributors (a mix of familiar experts and faces new to Hammer titles) and our relationships with key collectors who have kindly allowed us access to material they own that no longer resides in the archive. These releases are very much a team effort and Hammer fans and archive film collectors will love them, I'm sure.
HN: You just mentioned Dick Barton as an example. So these releases will definitely go beyond the core Horrors that everyone loves?
SR: They certainly will. This is Hammer's 90th anniversary year, so there's no better time to remind people of the sheer breadth of Hammer's archival output. It was a jobbing film studio, after all, and though Hammer Horror is global shorthand for a certain type of British horror, it was always so much more than that. Expect to see a mix of these rarities sprinkled amongst the classics - with many of them unseen for decades and all of them brand-new 4K restorations from the best available film materials.
To many people these films will be brand-new even though they're 50/60/70 years old. Imagine that - new "old" Hammers for fans and collectors to experience for the first time.
HN: Can you tell us what's coming up?
SR: Without rolling off a list of titles, I can say that this year there will be a heady mix of Brit Noirs, science horrors, action thrillers, swashbucklers and Gothics heading everyone's way in 2025. And these include some absolute classics alongside the rarities - including one that it's fair to say redefined a genre.

The discs perhaps suggest that any "standard" release would be in the Arrow style, where you can either buy the 4k discs or the bluray discs. I wonder if they'd include the bonus disc or just keep then 2 disc versions...or maybe they wouldn't even include the 2 discs for the films. Or maybe there won't be any standard edition! As someone who has never seen this I really hope there is, as I can't justify getting such a big expensive box.
Good points Gary 🤔🤩👍👍 I do think it's unusual to announce the full special edition and mention the standard edition as well... I suppose it's a strategy to maybe sell the box set more? But when the regular release comes out (surely it must) then we will know their plans with future releases 🤔👍 I think your right about the release formats and they could keep that extras disc for the special edition only 👍 the only thing about blind buying these sets is, you will always get your money back on resale 👍 be really interesting to see how the standard version goes Gary 🤔🤩👍

Nice to see a careful unboxing. I was holding my breath, waiting to see if you were going to tear the paper band around the lobby cards. It drives me crazy when people do that, or they break the spine of the booklet to show photos.
@@garyrichardson475 I can honestly say that some unboxings make me hide my eyes Gary 🫣🫣 yeah I've learned to bend the cards slightly to get the paper band off and on easily (most of the times) breaking a spine is quite a bad one as well 😵😵 my top ones are stuffing something in a box, throwing a box down, taking a cover out to reverse the cover but not really taking your time with it 😱😱 yeah only takes a few extra seconds to make your set last for a lot longer Gary 😁😁👍👍
Dracula lives....tomb of Dracula etc etc was a marvel production drawn by gene colan. A great artist sadly not with us anymore. I have them all in colour 70 plus issues and reprinted as a marvel weekly comic in the uk at 10p per week. I have over 2 3rds of those and are lovely in b&w as gene did fantastic fog type line work. My Kronos arrived today. Sadly I was not 1 of the early 250 orders but man....what a box set. Excelsior sir

Hi Simon I have a video on here talking about the protectors and I get them from Steelbook Central 👍👍 I've measured up the Kronos set and the closest size I can see that fits is an SCF18, it'll be a snug fit, and no other cases from Steelbook Central will be near the size of the Kronos set, hope this helps Simon 🤩👍👍

It was early hours and thought it showed the end not side captain Kronos on each end and I saw Hammer written on the side the next morning, but I've got carried away and got the Frighteners turbine set,the cell, love and honey 2, Vesper, exorcist 3, chronicles of riddick, Kubo, Constantine x2 and a few others bought over Christmas,all boxsets,Top of my list wish is strange days 4k, one vlogger said it's never been on blu ray even, I have 2 including the good EU release, and 350+ 3D blue ray, I need to stop,on another note I watched alien Romulus on Disney plus, really dark picture and the audio is awful through TV without my avr on
