Bitburger pils was the first ever German beer i tried, when in Winterberg in 1998. It smashed British lager then...as it does now!!
Really got into pilsner lately. Bitburger and Krombacher are definitely my favourites. Loving the content. Thanks mate 👍
Waitrose now stocking , four 500ml cans £6.50
smashed a crate of this away at Christmas, 10 euros for 20 half litres, lovely stuff
Cheers Simon! Great beer, especially in the summer time!
Just picked a pack of 12 up from Tesco. Clubcard price £12.
Same!
I've never seen it at Tesco. Neither have I ever seen it on Tesco's website!!
Brought this today in tesco £12 for 12 pack that's £1 a bottle amazing price
I did on Wednesday 👌🏻
Bought 12 x 330ml from Tesco today for £12.00,should of been £15.00 with Clubcard happy days.🍺🍺👍👍
Great video Simon. Anyone looking for this beer it's also available at Majestic Wines if you have a store nearby. I bought a box at Christmas.
My favourite Pilsner adore the stuff. Wish it was more readily available. Will be checking out Tesco after recent comments. 🍺
The old traditional German pilsner that never changes is absolutely spectacular. I love Bitburger.
This is the first time I have got to drink a certain beer along with you! I had one 500 mL can left in my fridge. I drank the other three earlier today. I love this beer. it is was of my favorites, next to Pilsner Urquell and Propaganda Pilsner (by Berryessa Brewing). I can always find 4 packs of Bitburger here in Northern California at Trader Joe's of all places!!! I hope they keep selling it for years and years. It's cheap as well! Only about $6 for a 4 pack of 500 mL tall cans!
You did a good job reviewing Bitburger, I totally agree with you on the fact that over time I have really started drinking and enjoying American West Coast style IPA's with 80+ IBU's. Then to start the evening I find myself wanting good German Pils (to session), and finish with the West Coast IPA.
Nice review, Simon 👍🏻
The German Aldi's sell the 5 litre Bitburger kegs .. cheap as chips
Just brought 15 bottles from tesco looking forward to this one
Adnams have the license for it in the UK as I understand. Cheers! 🍺
Bitburger is my favourite German pilsner ....try their radler in a Bottle it's excellent.
Love that you are revisiting some of these beers! Cheers!
Had trouble finding it in UK where I live. Having some now (0.5L cans) from the fridge, watchin euros UKR v Belgium. It’s very good. I’ve been trying various pilsners, German and Czech, this is my favourite so far, bitter, peppery, clean, fresh! Cheers Simon
Warsteiner is my first real German beer. Bitburger is next in the list. The old man in me is thirsting for the classics.
Was in Majorca a few years ago and struggled to find any decent beers, and then i discovered Bitburger in one if the shops there. Great beer!
Great beer , Bit of a heads up , Lidl,s Belgium week starts thursday …..some nice beers on offer by the looks of it
I agree with this review 100 percent... the strong hoppy IPAs are nice but the enduring never changing Bitburger pils and Warsteiner are absolutely spectacular. I buy the 4 pack cans from Total Wine here in the US all the time. God bless the German purity laws.
Great pils - tastes a bit like a Czech pils to me. Simon, I remember you getting excited about west coast IPAs. I was in my late twenties when I was watching that... now I'm in my mid 30s drinking a mother ehfin' Bitburger while you do on screen. Don't get me wrong - I love all kinds of innovative American IPAs. i'm proud us Americans have a new beer reputation but for $9.50 USD or so after tax, I can get a 4 pack of 500ml (half litre) cans at the local supermarket! I love this beer, I love Pilsner Urquell and I'm always up to try new pils. i want to settle down with a damn good pils at the end of the day. I'm an American from Arizona, btw. I love beers of the world, no elitism here, just enthusiasm.
I'm also gravitating away from IPA and more towards German beers lately, also wheat beers and I wish America would brew some good pilsner or helles or trappist styles beers besides obsessing over hops.
8.47 for a 4pack of pint cans, and a standard German lager, with a bite, and tastes great as it warms up and get smoother. you and I are in perfect alignment on this one and in the purity law also. make it right!
They permanently sell Bitburger in our local store ... and its mind-blowingly cheap ... just about half a pound in UK currency. I must say however, the taste differs quite a lot from Czech pilsners, I will have to pick another one up to remember the taste ... it seemed a bit sweeter to me ... kind of creamy
My German mates reckon Bitburger, Warsteiner etc......were all 'toned down' 20 plus years ago, to become more bland, to be more acceptable to most european tastes, as they were exported more widely across Europe?
Czech and German styles are quite different, and differ further from northern German pils, which are quite dry and hoppy.
Ah, my Gerrman friend says Krombacher is the best selling beer in Germany, followed by Becks. But you should try Berliner Beer too. This is my personal favourite.
Paulaner is also good. Becks is the daddy in Germany apparently.. until October anyway
I heard it was Veltins Pils years ago...Beck's and Krom are decent but Beck's is crap in the UK now....same with Holstein...get it in Germany and its really good. Try the Helles beer...its so easy to drink!
Always been a pretty decent pils, tends to be better on draught over there and here too, when you can find it? When the wife and I used to travel down the Mosel valley, it was understandably the most common pils. A few of the 'posh' pubs around Cambridge have it on draught.
I love Bitburger. I live in the west of Cyprus and Bitburger appeared in a few supermarkets during the middle of last year. Now I can only find it in one and I was in there earlier so got myself 4x500ml cans for the weekend. I seem to remember when I lived in Germany in the 1970s beer couldn't be imported into Germany unless in was brewed to the Reinheitsgebot. I believe the EU forced Germany to stop this and allow any EU beer in. Great review, great beer.
Been after this stuff locally for years, walked into my local Spar this morning to find glowing boxes of the stuff in the fridges. 4 x 500ml cans for £6.
Take my money sir
Now available in Tesco.
On tap in quite a few pubs in Bristol. One of the only places I can find it on tap.
7:10 is my favourite part 😂
😅
Unmistakable beautiful consistent taste decade after decade thanks to the German purity laws. God bless them.
German beers are quality. Used to love imported Becks 5%. UK busy bodies ruined that too. Ffs even Krombacher has changed. I'll try that though. Edit the uk are under pressure from American GM hop sellers. Makes beer taste like pissvasser😂😂 Cheers pal
You’d think as channel sponsors they’d offer a discount code to your viewers!
Having one while watching! Cheers!
5l kegs in Home Bargainst now and again. Top Pilsner!
Adnams stock it and knowing you've a few cans of bitburger in the fridge is a reassuring thing
Always very enjoyable, even if not my absolute favorite pils.
Bitburger is easily one of my favourite lagers lovely drink
Waitrose were stocking a 4 pack of tins for £6 about 2 weeks ago but wasnt a great fan for some reason
Try it in a bottle. Big difference honestly.
Beers of Europe, a fabulous place to find the beer you are interested in is out of stock 😂
They sell it on draft in my local the Bread and Bitter Simon, nice drop 😂🍻
Hi Simon! Saw your top 10 Supermarket Lager and I bought my first bottle Bitburger and Krombache because of it. I know Krombacher is one of your favorite beers but you still choice it insted of Bitburger ?
For me Bitburger has more personality, is not sweet like Krombacher and is on the bitter side, in a good way. Both beers are great to drink but i think Bitburger could win the crown in a top 10 supermaket lager.
Maybe you could do a top 5/top 10 favorite beers from supermarket or country?
Another quality beer
Bitburger or Warsteiner... best German pilsner in the world
Personally won't give any lagers over a 7/10 except for Pilsner Urquell. I don't think there's enough variety amongst the German pilsners/helles/exports to really differentiate them all that much. They're usually solid enough without being spectacular.
Krombacher's the best selling in Germany just for info
Get this at my local coop now. £5.50 for 4x500ml. Destroys the usual suspects, in a totally different class to the likes of Stella etc.
An excellent beer, at a reasonable price. 🍻👍
On my second can great beer 🍺
Adnams sell this in their shops
let's dive in ^^
The German "Warheischewhat"
Lol. What?!
How do we get from Reinheitsgebot to Warheischewhat???
I think he said "Rye Hi Sha Bot"
"Reinheitsgebot" really is a tongue-twister. let's just say "German beer purity law" ;)
don't correct him, i get a good laugh every time Simon tries to say it lol
You can get a 12 pack of Bitburger in Booths 😋
9 out of 10 all day long.
they have this four pack for 5.99 at my local trader joe's. suffice it to say, i have a new daily drinking companion. ridiculous beer.
Can't go wrong with German beer ...
Yes, you can. Those TV beers are boring as hell. There are so many small breweries in GER that are much more pleasant

Stinging nettle aroma? That’s a bit silly
Lol, it's in every beer this guy tastes apparently 🤣
In all seriousness what is this "stinging nettle" obsession Simon seems to have? Apparently he tastes it or picks it up on the aroma every single lager he reviews. I watch a lot of the other beer reviewers on RUclips and none of them ever mention that 😂
Fleshy blood orange anyone? 😂
A great beer indeed 👌 🍺
