I meant to have my Top 10 Albums video out this week as well, but I got hit with a rough illness last week that derailed my productivity. Plus, while I have enough energy now to do stuff, I’m not about to spend Christmas slaving over DaVinci Resolve when I could be with my family. All that’s to say, the Top 10 Albums video is gonna take a bit longer. Might not have it out until the very start of 2025. I appreciate your patience though. Thanks for watching and happy holidays!!

This video mentions Charli XCX’s “Mean girls” piano, recipient of my personal “SAOKO award for random jazzy breakdown in the middle of a pop banger,” so I’m satisfied. I wait all year for these lists and they never disappoint. Great work as always!
Every one of these videos and lists are a personal challenge for me to see how long I can go watching it without just skipping around to find stuff I listened to

Something similar was done by deep cuts channel and I just collected the names of the albums from that video.
Mr. Snare, thank you for shouting out Nothing Matters, by The Last Dinner Party. 4:09 I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS ON THE LIST!! Prior to 2024 I mostly just saw twenty one pilots as that band I was obsessed with in middle school that had some good songs but most of my appreciation was nostalgia-based, but their newest album has become my most-listened-to album that released in 2024 bc it's genuinely fire, especially navigating and midwest indigo

glad eternal sunshine got some appreciation. i never was an Ariana Grande fan, but this album stuck with me and i kept returning to it months after its release.
it's kinda surprising as i think the production on ES is better than TUN, the latter of which was extremely critically acclaimed. genuinely don't care for ariana as a person, but this was one of her better albums if you ignore the spongebob affair.
Since my sister loves Ariana and plays her a lot at home, I heard her more often than other contemporary pop stars. So I think she's definitely a great singer, but had her talents mostly wasted with hit or miss tunes most of the time (I recall how 7 Rings was mostly trashed by the music community and I kinda don't blame them). I often wished she had a discography more alike Dua Lipa's stylistic disco throwback for example. Though it seems her latest album is a marked improvement overall. And with her great performances in the Wicked soundtrack, I'm hoping her eventual next solo release continues that upper momentum.
Always love your end of year lists. They're such a good blend of appreciation for top hits, critical darlings, and personal favorites that I am always confident your content will show me new and interesting music that spans both the stuff I would have ignored and never have found. Your work leads me to appreciate new, interesting, and compelling artists each and every year, so thank you for that! Also, the only music I feel strongly enough about to mention: Remi Wolf's Toro was the most raucous, joyous bamger I listened to this year.
