Stunningly beautiful interpretation of La Vals, at times lyrical and at times passionate.

His understanding, feeling, and artistic sensibility is as mature as the duo pianists version of this piece by the team of Martha Argerich and Nelson Freire...he has that same luscious swagger...a full dance combo of the sense and sensibility of a valse united with a lusty Tango

Aww, I've watched you grow all these years but you always were and will always be a natural born pianist of a very high order.

Best young pianist around .What separates him is his mature grasp of the pieces he plays .He runs circles around his female counterpart Yuja Wang in this respect.

what an outrageous and brillant interpretation! wow! soooooooooooooooooo great! and above all: those glissandi! Li gives to all a poetic but as well diabolic and virtuos note - what a congenious mixture! BRAVO!

As a solo work, it's one of those thanklessly ungovernable transcriptions that many accomplished pianists are still bent on giving their best shot. (Same for Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise," and Stravinsky's "Petrushka" tryptich - all Russian composers, as luck would have it.) Here, everything's awfully good until about the 8:44 mark where a tendency to push too quickly forward starts to blur details and countervail the many tasteful details up to that point. I'm aware that the impression of upheaval is intentional on Ravel's part, but I also believe he'd favor clarity over haste. All that being said, it's still an incredible performance AND an intelligent re-thinking of the composer's solo-keyboard version. I was going to say we should keep our eyes open for other things by this clearly up-and coming pianist, but I did a bit of research and learned that he's already won the 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the silver medal at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition. He's already been discovered, all you armchair impressarios.

can't be sure but the chromatic flourish at the beginning suggests this might be the Ray Alston performance edition of the work rather than Ravel's rather unmanageable transcription itself. Exhilarating performance with enormous energy but possibly not among the most finessed.

Прекрасное сочинение, замечательный пианист. БРАВО !!!
Но по мне так симфонический вариант лучше. Оркестр, что ни говорите, имеет больше тембровых красок.

The audience noise (some a-hole eating potato chips or pistachios??) is absolutely INEXCUSABLE. Wonderful performance marred by bullsh*t.
