Alstott is the essence of what makes football a great sport. When he gets the handoff or catches the ball he has one all-consuming desire - move forward no matter what. And the guys on the other side have one objective, too - to stop him. What takes place at the point of contact is 100% football. The sheer will of one man against the will of 11 others. This guy is football. It's why I watch.

Great highlights. Other Bucs players may get more awards and honors, but during his time, Mike Alstott was the catalyst of those Bucs teams. Mike's effort was apparent on every snap. If you were lucky enough to be at the stadium to watch, you could sense it was just a matter of time before Mike popped off a long gainer. Everyone fed off his energy, players and fans alike.

Lorenzo Neal blocking for Mike Alstott, for one year (1998, I believe), was cruel and unusual punishment for defenders. Alstott was pissed when they let Lo Neal walk after one year and so was I!

We need the true fullback position back in the game! The spread offense is great, but I see so many teams near the goal line go shotgun or single back when they could just power it in for the TD!

This was great! Alstott was niftier and faster than I remember. I saw him run away from a few safety’s in this vid. He also obviously had great balance and acceleration which made him pull away fast in a tight space even if the defender was faster in a foot race.

Alstott is a super nice guy as well. I remember when I was a kid being at a habachi resteraunt. My mom and I sit down and here comes our guests.. Mike Alstott with a group of kids. He brought kids from the boys and girls club for dinner. My mom was shocked and he immediately asked us to shush so nobody would notice. We talked for a hour or two and he paid for our meal as well!
Vivid childhood memory that I will always have.
