France has declared a state of emergency in the Pacific territory of New Caledonia, after four people including a police officer were killed in riots over voting reform in the French-ruled archipelago.
The move came as the French government confirmed an additional 500 members of the French national police and Gendarmerie were being sent there to try and quell the violence.

@elvishprincess321 Most of Western legal, institutional, economic and foreign policy are still framed by the Westerners' sense of entitlement and supremacy due to their imperial past. Hence, the colonial past is still alive ideologically in many Westerners' worldviews, especially those who have political and economic power. The reason why there is immigration to former Imperial nations is because the same countries still perpetuate colonialism through other means.
