    Wow Ben! I didn't know you even had this video. I always wondered what your garden looked like. It's more beautiful than I imagined. Full credit to you for creating such a beautiful heavenly space. I'm looking at your Claire Austin and then looking at mine on a 1.9m obelisk 🙄. I'm not sure how I'll change mine to a larger one as the rose is twined around it inside and out haha. I really hope we get more of these videos at all different times of the year. I've watched this video twice as I loved it that much x

    You have a lovely garden which is also rich in wildlife. That hosta is lovely. It is a seiboldiana hybrid. Anyone wanting to grow that lovely hosta shouldn’t have slug problems as the seiboldiana hybrids are slug resistance hostas.

    Thank you for sharing your garden…SOOoooooo Lovely. I adore all the roses and how you show the way they grow, super helpful when I’m buying my sweet David Austin Roses. Totally enjoyed the amazing plants tucked in all the beds. Your Home couldn’t be more magical. I love your list of favorite roses and do my David Austin order from it. I heard if you grow raspberries off on the side of your garden, June Bugs will flock to them leaving the roses alone…I’m going to try it this year. If you would like, I’ll let you know my results;) Thank you again for all your informative videos…your my TOP one on line MR. Rose Man;)

    Thank you for this magnificent video! Your gardens are truly inspiring and you are such an expert! The fact that you know and recognize all of your roses, even those NOT in bloom, is so impressive. Love how you brought out the importance of providing a home for the beneficial bugs and birds....the perfect ecosystem! On the average, how much space do you provide in the garden between most of your roses? Because of you I have ordered 5 DA roses that will be here soon. I don't want to make the mistake of planting too close together.

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  Год назад

      Thank you, that’s very kind of you very much depends if you’re planting different varieties or groups of the same plants groups of the same plants can be planted together as little as 18 inches or 40 cm apart different varieties will need larger spacing usually around 3 feet or 36 inches

    I started my garden in December 2021, that’s when I planted my first roses: Pierre de Ronsard, Albertine, Mme Hardy, The Pilgrin, Alchymist, Comte de Chambord and Roses des Peintres. Today, almost a year later, i have already planted 45 Anciennes Roses and 23 Austin Roses. I was very inspired to make this garden in gardeners like you and others around the world. And what a great pleasure for the mundo, vodu, and senses to do só! Saved me from depression. My garden is beautiful (in my opinion), but there I have to calm down, the garden is small and I don’t know how it will look in the future when all this world will grow!

    I think it yould be great if you did at least one garden tour in summer and one mid autumn. That way it's a lot easier to see what blooms simultaneously and how the plants react as the season progresses.

    Hi Ben thank you for sharing your tour with us. Quick question regarding some of your structures eg 3 x bamboo stakes with a terracotta pot on top, another one used for Claire Austin etc. Can you provide more details on how you create these structures to withstand each of their relevant plants they were intended for? Thank you...

    Question, what are the best methods of planting a Bareroot Rose? For example, what are the essential elements that need to go into the actual planting hole (i.e., compost, organic material, bone meal)?

    One more question Ben. About Bethesda climbing up the apple tree did that happen on her own after the initial training around the trunk or did you have to tie her up above the trunk? I’d love to have a climbing Rose on my tree but won’t be able to tie up beyond where I can reach. Thanks Ben. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • @Petalsandstamens

    Also approx how far apart have you planted your roses? I am preparing the garden beds ready for my first David Austin bare root roses and I believe I read they recommend to plant them 1 mtre apart, of course I want to squeeze more roses in. I could be wrong, but thought yours are planted closer than 1 mtr apart (I secretly hope so :) )

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  2 года назад +1

      It really Depends on the varieties that you are planting planting groups of the same rows together you can get away with Plants in them closer together different varieties need to be spaced out further apart yes a lot of mine are planted quite densely but that in turn means you have to be very much on top of your soil conditioning ventilation watering and pest control

    Hello from Germany Mr. Anderson! Thank you for the wonderful tour of your garden. Incredible collection of roses, plants and even nicely arranged borders for vegetation. I like the old tub used for planting and was that a small boat used as a pond? We have something in common, I’m obsessed too with Eustacia Vye also called Sts. Francis and Claire. I agree with you how birds, Earwigs and other insects are so beneficial in the garden, I’ve got house sparrows living behind the rain gutter, they are noisy, chirping all the time and eat my romana salat but they are very industrious. May I ask how many roses you’ve got in your garden and how many years you’ve been working in this paradise? Lovely day to you!😍

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  Год назад

      Hi if you have CPM as a standard or three rows you shouldn’t need to do any training just prune it during the winter as you would do a shrub rose just on a stem my CPMs are all shrubs and Reach around 6 feet tall by the end of each season
