I totally agree with ya Josh! My brotha Daryl a good friend of mine showed me down hill pipe welding. I've been welding for 21 years all fab shop. Down hill TOTALLY different world it ain't easy! I'm definitely getting ready for it. It's rough out there now. Everyone sell their stuff now. They need cash , and I want a equipment. Tough time don't last, just tough people do!! Hang in their everyone and stay blessed🙏🏽!
    Thanks Josh and Jacob🙏🏽

  • @curtissbetts8307

I commend you Josh.I'm twice your age almost and have been welding for half that time.doing everything but down hill pipe for a living.I've always knew that I would oneday be a pipeliner from before day one. Many of the most influential people who inspired me to weld for a living were pipeliners. They unfortunately are not with us anymore."God rest their souls". Born in the northeast but spent my entire life all but 6 years or so in pipeline country. Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana and Virginia. Now back in the worst state in the country.....MAINE.. Made pretty good money over the years but never topped the 100 grand mark. Married with children now , some are collage bound or already their. Youngest one is 12 and she is a absolute joy to parent. So pulling roots on her is a hard choice but she's good with it and wants to be home schooled by my wife. Got a rig truck that would work to start with. Almost all the tools needed to pipeline with the exception of bevel machines. No 5th wheel or camper of any sorts. Have been pretty successful in teaching myself down hill and taking the time and effort to learn about the pipeline possesses. With all that said..... Still I have such a hard time with the unknowns about just striking out to go pipelineing. Have quite a few contacts if I was deadly serious about going. And could probably get me a test. I do have api 1104 12inch branch testing done three separate occasions. All with the desired results..if you know what I mean.PASSED. more structural certs then I can count or even remember. Including 6 gr.dualsheild on that. and stick oddviousy on 1104. Now even after all that I'm still absolutely in 100 percent agreement with you about starting as a helper. Just a little bit of a kick in the nuts with 20 years of experience in the trade. But still I'd do it with a smile straight to the end. So I guess what I'm saying is God damn son, one hell of a great job brother. You sir have balls. Jacob schofeild has got to be some kind of proud to see you break out after hes invested his own time in you. Sorry bout the language. Your a fucking badass welder now bro. Congratulations Josh. Seriously fucking congratulations man. Someday here very soon I'll round up my balls and just do it. Stop second guessing things and listen to what jake has said to me and everything I've learned from him. As for that you to. I've learned something I'm sure from you in Jake's videos. God bless you and your family Josh. We all do this for the benefit to our familys. FR shirts, steel toe boots.draggin Leeds and slingin roots. Go get it brother. Go fuckin get it man.
    CURTISS BETTS.
Throw me a friendrequest in the feel like it. Like to have you in my contacts.

Just want to say I think it's highly commendable to see you young fella's out there working hard and really caring about the work you do and living responsible lives with good careers and also sharing the passion with each other and helping each other out with equipment, advice etc. There's too many lazy young folks out there these days that expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter and have no idea what good healthy hard work is and commitment and dedication. Congrats and all the best to you guys out there.

There's way too many guys like that in the trades - all the trades. They don't teach their helpers jack squat, they act like jerks and ride you down like a dog if they see you tooling up, and might even fire you because they feel like you're "trying to take their job" like there isn't any room for anybody but them ... really very petty. I actually came down in the comments to mention how awesome Jake is for being encouraging and helpful. It's rare in the trades, there's a huge ton of narcissistic dickheads that can't stand seeing anybody get out from under their thumb.

I have been in the Ductile Cast Iron Pipe industry for over 30 years. Kind of do the same type of work you do. Only Ductile Cast pipe is used for the Water and Sewage industry instead of gas. I weld Flange pipe Thread-O-Lets Bosses Wall Collars. I weld in the same plant everyday. Don't make near the money you guys do. Only advantage I see I have over you guys is. I have a 10 min drive to my job. From my house. Weld Cast Pipe is a whole different animal too! If I was a young buck. I would have me a Rig and try to go chase some of the real money like you guys. I already have 2 portable machines. That just set in my shed. Really like the videos you put out. These young guys that want to weld pipeline should listen up to what you got to say! Good stuff man!
