      I concur. It’s either my life has turned to shit, or it turned to shit while I’m going through withdrawals- Doug always sets me straight, and helps me cope with it all. That speaks volumes, where you can laugh while going through a combo of shit & withdrawals.

    Stanhopes early to mid 2000s albums were a run of pure genius. You can tell how he influences other comedians that are getting big now . He was like a Bill Hicks on steroids talking about shit I can more relate too. Especially in my 20s and 30s. He’ll always be in my top 3 for those first 4 albums there like the illmatic of comedy albums . 25 years later they’ll still be dope .

      @@gracefool It's either easy divorce or the state forcing people to remain married. Should a judge really have that kind of power over our personal lives? Here's how you eliminate divorce - stop getting married.
      Marriage is nothing more than a long-term relationship with tax benefits. Give it any additional meaning you prefer. It doesn't change that fact. Thanks to indoctrination it's seen as the only viable option. It's a huge industry that targets little girls who grow up and eventually manipulate their boyfriends into doing something very unnecessary. Perhaps if the government stopped shoehorning people into marriage with tax incentives it would lose its market value.
      By chance do you happen to be married? If so I've a question. What rules are present in your married life that were not present during your dating life?

      I think Carlin just hasn't aged well. I used to listen to Carlin in the early 2000s and I thought all his shit was really funny. I tried relistening to some of it recently, and it just comes off flat and ranty. I still love the man's legacy but I'm not sure there's anymore laughs to be had at the Carlin well.
      But I do agree with Typhoid; Stanhope has a sharp, tell-it-like-it-is edginess that Carlin had. This weird middle ground between "angry YT comment edgelord" and "politically correct milquetoast SJW" that comes off as some of the most honest shit today. And the fact that there's some laughs peppered in there doesn't hurt.

      Correction, people die from the state of drugs as they are under the oppressive drugs war; which funnels funds to violent criminals and leaves substances unregulated, which is what causes most of the deaths.
      In a regulated system people could just take a clean substance and seek medical advice if anything goes wrong, using the taxes from their substance use to fund the clinic seeing to them.
      I don't blame people for using drugs in this world, you need to be hopped up on something to keep dreaming in this hellhole. Maybe we just need to stop trying to control peoples behaviour where they do not harm others.

    Massive. I have seen so many lists of "best comedians" and Stanhope was not on a single one. He was too good for the system. This is comedy in its purest form, yet people just want comics jumping around talking in funny accents.

    Fearless. I get that the content is questionable but to continue when you know the vast majority of people don't appreciate or understand that he's joking/serious, takes incredible courage. I'd rather face the possibility of a gun to my than say things like this. What a brave, hilarious hero.

    • @gonzodelphiki2083
      @gonzodelphiki2083 5 лет назад +3

      Jody Powell It's not even questionable content. It's just real talk, from a real OG who doesn't give a fuck what anybody thinks as long as they paid for the ticket to watch.
      This man is as real as they come, I wish I had the courage he does, and he's among that top tier of comics whom are as unique and truly talented as they come.
      Carlin, Hicks, Chappelle, Kinison, Pryor, Bruce, May, Murphy, Hedberg, Williams, Mac, Rock, Rickles, and Stanhope.
      If you listen to any of these men today in 2019, you'll realize what it means to be timeless in comedy. I confidently believe that Doug is among the very top of that list, he's simply not "corporate friendly" enough to be more mainstream... and we should all love him even more for that very reason!
