Just make them drive go-karts for this one track :D
I'd watch that!
😐
Just for this one
I would love to see that!
Absolutely agree.
The cars are just bigger now and one of the main reasons is the safety
And then the stewards dishing out penalties when someone so much as whiffs near another driver but hey, they've been ruining the racing for many years now.
Back in 1950 (first year of F1) they had cara just as wide as todays cara
@@douglasberggren7667 arent they longer aswell tho now?
Much of it is due to the extra hardware. Cars are extra long and heavy now because they need to carry a full race's worth of fuel and a hybrid drivetrain.
They could make them much smaller like in Formula E. New 2026 regulations should actually include that the cars are smaller
They should put more strategy decisions for Monaco, shortcuts, enemy attacks, missiles, emp jammer, blue turtle shell
Paintball. Have to hit the driver in the visor or the nuts 🤣
@@colinstewart1432 imagine the teams shooting from the commado stands at the drivers. Mercedes against Redbull, Redbull against Aston Martin and Ferrari against everyone including themselves
@@BAD_LS 🤣 Sounds about right 👍
get that banana from mario kart in there too

Unless you’re Ferrari. They’ll find a way to f up their race
Hey at least Charles finished his home race without a DNF
@@anshulsingh7663 he finished 4th last year, is everyone forgetting that?😂
Why is that becoming a saying? 🤔
@@4rdF1Hunny yeah after starting on pole, are YOU forgetting that?
nah bruh i was a to say bruh lol
The races have gone boring cause of how big the cars have gotten but qualifying is more intresting than the race because of how important track position is on Sunday as evident of how intense qualifying was yesterday , the best qualifying session I've watched in a very long time . Its a prestigious track and most people who are not even into f1 know about the monaco grand prix , unreal history too , the monaco grand prix is synonymous to f1
We can afford to have one race that qualifying means more than the race itself.
@@benmanutd2 yes !
Its known for being extremely luxurious event for the ultra rich.
Wide bois
@Kimi Timoskainen it literally just rained a little. The rain hardly even had any effect on the race. I don't understand the spectical of Monaco. Either make the track better or get rid of it. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport. That includes qualifying AND the race.
I think the problem is _Monaco._
The Monaco race is usually one of the best races in Formula E, so it definitely isn't a Monaco problem
The Problem is Monaco and the Car Size it’s self. The Cars now are just to big to race in the narrow streets of Monaco
It is. Let’s speed up global warming and delete Monaco off the earth
@@AnimilesYT That’s mainly due to attack mode and drivers saving battery. In F1 almost no one outside the top 3 has won in dry conditions since the 80’s.
@@Bigheadguyfromsmolmovie🤣🤣I’m on your side
just after one of the most exciting monaco gp in recent years
You mean, qualifying. 😂😂😂😂
@@anenigma1986 both qualifying and the race were good
@@adam79634 only because of strate in the race. No real racing or overtakes
The drivers forgetting how to drive for the 2nd half of the race doesn’t mean it was good
Plenty of overtakes
monaco is not about overlapping.. its about going fast without crashing during qualifying and defending without crashing during the actual race.
Add rain and you will get one of the most nail biting races.
So, no action without rain?
Its not hard to defend during the race tho, ricardo did it with half a gear box. If that isn't an indication of how bad the racing is, idk what is.
Idea: Either make the cars smaller, or, make them ride go karts.
or make monaco bigger
@@oryza_citrus literally impossible
@@GameOver-nm2us Maybe just widen the streets and tunnel, shuffle around the buildings.
@@oonmm still it won't be significant enough to make an improvement in the racing
Wouldn’t work since almost no one outside the top 3 has won in dry conditions since the 80’s. The cars have contributed but the track is the main culprit.
I like this track, the qualifying is super fun to watch, and the race today was pretty interesting in my opinion
I genuinely believe the way monaco is now makes it one of the more interesting GP weekends on the calendar because of the bigger importance of qualifying and the higher probability of chaos than at some other GP’s.
Chaos is a funny way of saying potential deadly crashes
I'm certain that if you put me in a formula 1 car in pole position at the start of the Monaco GP, I would finish that race dead last, probably lapped in double figures (assuming I finish at all). There's definitely still skill involved.
Unless you have driven a single seater before you will mess up the clutch and not even get off the line, or just spin out immediately
But it's about professional drivers who are trained to drive these cars. If you put any average person into the red bull, they will obviously be overtaken by the worst cars on the grid, because we're not trained to carry F1 speeds into corners.
Doesn't mean it is very high skill ceiling. And it is less than what the average driver has.
Even Leclerc finished 4th despite getting pole.
i found it funny that there's a rule about grand prix only can be held inside that specific country, yet there's san marino holding their race in italy's racetrack
Yes but it’s also one of the more interesting races strategy wise. Timing is everything on this track
The problem is not the Monaco circuit: it is those hideous single-seater-streched-limousines they call F1 race cars. also, it is not the pole startere who wins: it is the team that makes the least mistakes - which is what actually makes Monaco awesome.
The Monaco GP is just historical and iconic. I personally love city circuits and this has to be the most beautiful one. While I understand the critics when it comes to the lack of action and challenge on track due to the reason mentioned in the clip, I don't think the F1 calendar would be the same without the annual late May race in Monte Carlo. 🇲🇨
& the cars are only getting bigger now too…
AFAIK they are planing to make the 2026 cars lighter and shorter
Yet no one has won outside the top 3 in dry conditions since the 80s, so nothing to do with big cars...
These cars are actually smaller than the 2017-2021 Gen. They're shorter.
For this course only, have the drivers switch to Go-Karts 😃
Go-kart! Go-kart! Go-kart! 😄
There's quite a simple fix. Make the cars smaller. Whether the FIA does that or not is a whole other kettle of fish
Cars were smaller 15 or 20 years ago. The story was the same... Unless someone made a big mistake...
@ilmelangolo that's true, but back then, they had lots of aero on top of the car, but with the ground affect (which you'll remember is far less disruptive) and the slightly simplified aero package that will be introduced in 2026 the Monaco grand prix should improve, should being the operative word, because someone could well find a loophole and build a monster that wins by a lap
That's why f1 golden days (in my opinion were from the 50s up until the 70s)
If only they'd put Fernando on intermediates 😢
_"The most famous motorcar race in the world..."_
*Le Mans:* SACREBLU!
Would be fun to have the Monaco GP to be the special one time event when teams use older cars. Each year they do a different decade.
When an outsider non f1 fan tries to fix F1. No thank you, we love Monaca, let us just deal with your climate agenda in our sport.
That's why qualifying is so fun to watch
The track should be extended to the new Anse du Portier land extension and maybe they can pass there.
and anyone familiar with Gran turismo 6 or later will attest,
it's fun as heck
It's not on GT Sport or Gran Turismo 7 though. I wish it was though.
This is become a problem in general in F1. It's one reason why real fans watch qualifying and it is sometimes just as exciting as the race. Watching drivers go all out to get the best possible time just before the clock runs out can be thrilling. Especially when you know there's a good chance this will mean they win the race tomorrow. And you get surprise upsets all the time.
Saw this in the one that just happened for sure
watch monaco grand prix is for qualifying
Monaco gp is only fun if your winning 😂
The problem is people that think that racing is EXCLUSIVELY about overtakes.
Simple, get on pole, it's unique to be able to see the drivers work their magic that close and enjoy the surrounding beauty and soul
They should Karts, or 3/4 size midgets. That track was originally for much smaller vehicles. It would be a great equalizer in the series.
Edmund JR. always that. Never changed😂😂😂🎉🎉
Played this formula one game back in the day against Schumacher on ps1
That track was the hardest!!!
Sounds like we need to invent the blue shell
We can still get great racing in Monaco tbh. Just look at the formula e race there, always tons of overtakes up and down the field. I hope the slightly smaller cars from 2026 will improve the racing in f1 as well.
there's no actual requirement to have a grand prix within the borders of the represented country.
eg. Both Luxemburg and San Marino used to have GP's, but they were held in Germany and Italy respectively
Big guy they said 100 years ago
We need the Vatican Grand Prix
There are two things i can think of that can be done. One is to extend the course in the streets, like taking a left after the tight curves before the tunnel, and then go up there a bit and come back, you will get a much longer straight through the tunnel.
Another one is to think outside the box and add more track onto the harbor itself. The yachts and boats can just move outwards anyways. In this case you need to design a floating island that can be dismantled, which is sturdy and can stay in place, that links perfectly with the roads on land. It's probably doable, but also probably quite an engineering feat to pull off.
First point is very unlikely, as there are no streets going left before the tunnel entrance connecting with the track. The idea would be great though.
I remember seeing a video after Monaco GP last year about how to improve racing at Monaco without demolishing buildings and your second point was one of the four or five ideas the creator suggested. :)
Ot just make the cars smaller 🙈
@@kunal_265 It's actually one of the FIA's goals. IIRC they should lower length, width and weight limits year by year until at least 2026
Not boring if you understand racing. Although go karts would be epic
even in the formula d board game it's like that. Watching actual race footage can definitely help with that game. Weird how well made it is.
The cars also become bigger, larger, wider, longer, so manouvering could be harder than before.
I haven't followed the races for the past few years, but things got a little more interesting when it started to rain.
I'd love if they added something in like a Jokerlap from Rallycross.
Why did you show a current map of the German grand prix when referring to it historically?
It doesn‘t make the Grand-Prix uninteresting, it just shifts the focus more on the qualifying.
Most people tend to think of the Grand Prix as uh... the race. Not the quali.
No one has been able to pass for decades this isn’t new. Still a thrilling race in my opinion, the spectacle, the danger and fanfare. Qualifying is incredible to watch.
Except for 5 of the previous 7 races…
"graand preee"
I think at Monaco they should just say the driver with the biggest yacht wins.
but, YOU MUST ALWAYS LEAVE THE SPACE, ALL THE TIME YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE SPACE
Monaco is smaller than Central Park in NYC
Sadly, on the rare occasion when Monaco is a good race, it’s good for all the wrong reasons.
When Im bored I go on google street view and just walk around Monaco 😂
Senna was the only one that always made his way to the win in Monaco
Besides 1984-86 and 1988
Bottled 1988 though
Street racing is where you see the difference between regular people and F1 drivers
I think Monaco could do with adding in a couple of Joker laps, I'm sure this could be squeezed in somewhere, of course, then visibility rejoining the main racing line maybe an issue, depending on how this was accomplished.
But would add in some strategy to the races atleast.
This could have been a 5 second clip. The cars are simply much bigger now so the track seems really narrow.
Well, I think you have to leave the space. All the time you have to leave the space.😂😂
Pole is still important on every other track..
It's just on this track in particular, that the race is on Saturday.
You just need to not crash on Sunday.
Unless your ferrari then you have a 50% chance of winning from the start
Pole winners have won over 40% of every race ever run in Formula One history. As of 2022, Formula One has held 69 races in Monaco. Pole has won 31 of those races, or 45%. The video itself shows that (as of 2022) 5 of the last 7 Monaco winners have NOT come from the pole position. Now, what's the problem again?
Passing does get kinda difficult when the cars have pretty much doubled in size.
Tell this to Charles Lecrec and his engineers😂😂
Cant wait fort he Las Vegas Grand Prix!
Make the teams choose one set of gear ratios for the whole season.
It would make it fun seeing the back marker teams going all out to win at Monaco.
Maybe the formula needs changing.
Yes it does. That's why they are reducing weight, length and width of the cars year by year since last year until at least 2026 IIRC.
"The most famous car race in the world"
24 Hours of Le Mans & Indy 500: Act like i am not even here
I think most people miss the point and the subtlety of the Monaco GP. I am by no means saying it is the most exciting event ever, however, it is worth noting a couple of things.
Firstly to drive around there for 78 laps without a mistake is truly a difficult feat, cause that is what is needed to win, outside of mitigating factors like strategy mistakes, rain, etc.
Secondly, all mistakes are punished that much more harshly, therefore we see super-alert drivers, teams, etc being that much more careful and thoughtful of their decisions. That would not be fun race after race, however, as an isolated incident once a year, it is good to watch.
Thirdly, when a move does eventually takes place, it usually is a result of a lot of pressure from the car behind and the lead driver buckling under it. It takes a clever and strategic driver to make passes that way and that is also great to watch. Of course, the bravery of anyone attempting the overtakes is implied and appreciated.
All in all, what I would say is, people like to complain that there are no passes rather than seeing what is beautiful about what is.
On a more important note, that is our world today people complaining and being angry about not liking things exactly the way they want them and not appreciating at all what is there.
It's honestly a really good race if it rains. Just need rain every year I guess.
Twisted Metal: Head On is how i learned of Monaco 🇲🇨.
I love the arguments from the viewers point of view and not including drivers opinion...
Monaco isn’t about Passing? It’s about Qualifying, Saturday is one of the most stunning track days of the year
With a lot of money there could be some widening in some places but that would only create more danger
But for the last seven years, the car in the pole position has only won twice. Source: the start of this video (0:05).
Well, the race today was amazing, so this isn't an absolute thought...
not really, it was lowkey boring
Tye size of the track and Monaco itself always confuses me
The problem is actually small, and it's Monaco itself.
The car being bigger and bigger is not the problem. Everything changes but this track cant
Car size is a problem, but so is the speed. F3 cars are a lot smaller and they still can't overtake in Monaco, because of the speed. Monaco only had proper racing when cars were a lot slower than modern ones.
Amazing! How you explain a simple thing soinding like you're a genius in motorsports
The most famous car race in the world is either the Indy 500 or the 24 Hours of Le Mans. People argue about which is more prestigious but it's generally agreed upon that it's one of the two.
Which makes the best part of this race the qualifying!
It's the skill of being the best in qualifying that is tested and celebrated in Monaco. The race is just procedural at this point.
With Monaco the real art is qualifying. There is not much better in F1 than the perfect qualifying lap.
Naturally, it makes sense why the cars are bigger, but they should have a smaller version just for this track, a lot of other tracks also now that I think of it😂
Still had more passing than North Wilkesboro, or that lousy Martinsville race last spring
No captions… really?!! It’s 2023 😢
There's captions now :)
You're mistaking a feature for a bug.
Weird how the FIA cant take the hint. Just make the cars smaller. Solves so many problems
There is too tiny. There just isn't enough vroom
It’s mostly due to the size of the cars not the placement of the track.
It's not entirely true to say that the British circuits spread out in the countryside, several used to be aerodromes, so they did have the space, but not as planned for a racetrack.
A hundred years ago, car manufacturers had different designs and engines. Now regulations mean engines, bodies and designs mean they're to alike to get any advantage on small circuits. "Vive la difference"
Meanwhile Indianapolis: am I a joke to you
Monaco doesn’t have a problem. F1 is as much about the various sessions and strategy as overtakes. Monaco is a unique challenge on the calendar and F1 needs more of it, not trying to make lots of circuits where overtaking is easy.
They should double the points in monaco to force risky overtakes
...Unless you win the poly and grasp for that first place for the whole race.
That should be a way around to win, which isn't easy but it's something.
The problem is not Monaco, it's F1 cars twice the size of a compact car to fit all the overly complicated (and heavy) hybrid stuff
The problem is only getting worse, as the cars are getting bigger. So what Monaco needs is rain. Like last time, when rain comes in the middle of the race things get shaken up - it was fun to watch!
But quick courses don't mean interesting racing as Spain can attest to now...
