Nah, I'm not part of the Armed Force. But Kostrad (basically QRF units) and the territorial command units for big urban areas usually get the SS-2 rifle. Its an indigenous design, it looks kinda like an M-16A2 but with FNC-style folding stock and is internally more similar to Daewoo K-2 rifle.

The chances of that may be bigger than you think. Korea's starting to emerge globally after their swift response during Ukraine's start, and their gears have been high quality but affordable for quite some time (there's a reason one of the Taliban 'uniforms' is old Korean woodland BDU)
I will absolutely buy the PM-12 clone. Don't understand why Beretta never imported these. I'd rather have this than a Cx4 or a pmx. Also glad to see an importer of BM59 mags! What's kept me away from that gun is the worry that surplus mags will dry up. Go Indonesian imports!!!
New produced BM-59's in the US will be great!! The real ones are great and you can still find them occasionally, but hopfully these will bring the cost down for some folks who want a high quality reproduction instead :)

Pindad should manufacture FNC seriously if they plan to export it into US market. IIRC Pindad's SS1 felt so much rougher compared to original Belgian silky smooth FNC.
SS-1 being poor quality is just because indonesian way of military government procurement in soeharto era (fancy way to said: corruption). for international export, i believe PINDAD will use best material available since heir reputation is on stake.
Pindad also the sole licence holder for the last Madsen's machine gun Madsen Saetter.. But probably too far a stretch for a semiautomatic version of that MG to enter the civilian market..
Probably you would, pindad show cased their SBA-2 designed exclusively for Indonesian military combat diver... Maybevit will be offered to the civilian market after its underwater firing capability scapped.. Since SBA-2 was used SS2-V5 as its base.. Well, thats still is SS-2 from technically pov..

I'm really looking forward to seeing BM59 and hopefully replacement parts rebuild kits 59 was a better rifle than the 14 and were built on Garand tooling way before the M 14 was sorted out. Some converting kits were sold to build your own from the Garand finally good news for shooters of classic firearms.
I am proud as a resident who lives next to the Pindad Factory complex that production has reached foreign countries, especially the US as the centre of the arms market 💪.
quite exciting that indonesian made weapons finally gonna go to US market, but as a "regular user" of those firearms (esp the SS1/FNC copy), i hope they already fixed the broken firing pin & bolt problems, as they are notorious here for breaking & jammed even in normal conditions
Those pistol versions of the original rifles, are relatively easy to import into the US, without the changes/requirements for US made parts to satisfy ATF requirements. They can simply remove the stock and directly import all that's left as a pistol. I bought a Sig 556 pistol that same way. It's the rifle minus the stock, with all the remaining original parts. Huge loophole and glad that manufacturers are exploiting this.
in case you guys don't know, this isn't some knockoff made by small private company, Pindad is a state owned manufacturer of defense products, one of Indonesian Government's primary supplier of defense products too, so yeah this is a big deal within Indo millitary enthusiast communities
I won't hold my breath. The Shot Show, "later this year", availability promise doesn't seem to hold up with some companies. PSA was supposed to give us the STG 44 repro for about 2k. Now that's supposedly not happening. Apparently a guy and his son make them in their shop now as identical reproductions but they cost 4-6k or something like that.
This is going to be so cool. I can't find a decently priced Garand anywhere, but a new clone of the BM-59 is essentially the same thing with a better magazine. I'll be saving nickels to get one.
Fun fact: those two letters are actually acronym to signify the weapon's type SS: _Senapan Serbu_ (the literal translation of "assault rifle") SP: _Senapan Panjang_ (translates to "long rifle") PM: _Pistol Miniatur_ (translate to miniature pistol)

This was my idea. I fought like hell to get them to do this after touring their factory in Bandung, but at the time, 2019, they refused to do it. I drafted the first white paper for them on importing their products to the US.
Dude, that is exciting. I've always wanted an FNC. And a BN-59/M-14. I wonder if they will be true to the original design, or sort of tacticool them up, like adding M-lok/pic rail handguards, a flat top pic rail for adding optics, perhaps even different gas setting, the ability to mount a suppressor, etc.(assuming the FNC does already have some of those things.)
There should be two options on guns like this, 99% old school adding at most an optics rail, without removing irons. Then one fully Mlok'd out. They have a 2 position gas block and I imagine the barrels would be threaded but who knows what size and pitch.
Back when the BRN-180 was released i had the idea Brownells should tinker with making an FNC upper to fit on an AR lower the same way. But I’ll take this too!

It's been years since SHOT Show has had interesting stuff, but this is the first thing I've actually gotten excited about in even longer!

FNC sears to become very pricey soon. More FNC sears on the registry than FNCs were actually ever imported.
