Even more confusing, they label Sudanese, Ethiopians, and other Northern Africans as "White", even though they're Blacker than everyone in my family.🤦🏿♂️ Dr Mustafa Hefny literally looks like one of my surviving uncles, complete with Afros, but according to the U.S., he's considered a "White man" because he's Egyptian.🙄
Even more crazy, we're considered "Black", yet the overwhelming majority of us have upwards of 23% European blood and SOME of us, Indigenous ancestry. We're our own unique ethnic group. We're composed of several different African groups, several different European groups, and several different Native American groups.

Prof. Hunter, this was amazing---- an American caste system, based on racial/ethnic curation, to justify racial, social, financial, academic, environmental, occupational inequality and segregation!!! My mind is BLOWN!!!
What makes Prof Hunter one of the best human beings on the planet, is her ability in plain terms to understand the condition were in.
I love when you stump with this question. They still have the arrogance to call unprepared’I was scrolling the dial, my first time listening I’m white blah blah blah’. Then get mad when you ask for clarification.
the whole idea of race is just a social construct and not a scientific reality. All people are of the same race and there are differences in genetics but not in the basic species scientifically speaking. Although I said there is no such thing as race, I am using it as a common noun descriptor. If people who consider themselves white would really do research on their ancestors I bet many many of that group would find an ancestor who had slanted eyes or darker skin. The Mongols made it all the way to Germany and the Scandinavians made it all the way to China and the African tribes made it all the way north and also west. And there were no virgins among those warriors who were on the prowl. We are all mixed. and genetics of outward cosmetic differences has nothing to do with being smart or dumb or lazy or wealthy. Except for the brainworm of apartheid everyone is the same.
We know it's a social construct. but it's backed by violence and hatred to make it a reality and a problem for ppl who are black. It's important not to downplay it.

Ever since I listened to that short my brain has exploded. Thinking about that question and also remembering my upbringing in Charleston, SC. Again, thank you. I would love to have a conversation with you. Way too many thoughts to write here.
A good friend of mine, a resident of NJ his whole life , moved to Texas. He got a speeding ticket in Galveston and on the ticket it had a box for race. The white police officer marked the race box with the letter B. My friend said he`s going to court ,not to fight the speeding violation but to fight why their is a race box on the ticket in the first place. I told him that judge can`t wait to throw your black ass in jail.
Here is where you find intelligent, thought provoking conversation to dismantle the all around brain washing around race and the top 10%. I saw someone comment…we don’t have time for this now….how foolish and complacent…then when, when is the right time to destroy this monster from its very conception? Why is it that people have seemed to have forgotten how to walk and chew gum at the same time?

I've never understood this obsession with ethnicity. People say they're white until they find they have a single ancestor who was black. Now they identify and go all in on the black culture. I don't see this same nonsense by the blacks who find some distant ancestor who was white and then identify as white and go all in on the white culture (if there is such a thing). It's all about narcissistic people wanting attention (look at me, I'm special). What utter BS. You are what you are, be proud and thrive.
The construct has already been explored and locked into the fabric of this country and the world, Karen. That construct is basically called culture now. Defining white is a pointless exercise. Our major concern should be our Social Survival within that construct, based on our traditional values. Race will never be erased, nor should it be. We need to embrace our distinctive approach towards our lived in experience within this country, and outside of it by our relatives. That's the only planned response that matters, when it comes to building something solid for Black people here and abroad...
is it? Black people were nigras, then colored, then Negro, then Black, then African American...people ARE definitely open to change when presented with new information. In my lifetime we went from Columbus discovered America to Columbus was an awful, drunk enslaver...so...I'm going to keep banging on this great divider of people. You can sit on the sidelines but don't get in the way.
@@KarenHunterShow Creating a constructive, concrete plan for our people, outweighs any so called divider concerning ethnic groups. Your comment is the perfect example as to why we're in our position currently, concerning cultural standards. Asian and Jewish culture's forward movement through society isn't based on trying to understand social constructs. They understand that integration and nationalism have to be combined, and must work together for any ethnic group to survive. They embrace cultural diversity, and hold on to their traditions. For our Social Survival, we have to learn to be just as courageous....

A good question! It's taking too long for us to grasp that it's all a ploy to get & keep more money for those at the top.
I came to the conclusion that it’s an ideology to which if one adheres to they are granted certain privileges, which will be available to mostly any group except one. People here in the U.S who think they are white are not “white enough” across the pond. Just my take.
I have been asking this question for DECADES!!! Why is WHITE on the census? While the other categories have specific criteria? I think the white question should be removed from all applicants and especially the census itself. How and why is it necessary now in 2024?
