Back in the 90’s I saw SRV live outdoors in Old Orchard Beach Maine. Got there early and got right in front of the stage. He came and played right in front of me for three solid hours. I was close enough to smell his cologne. Watching his hands and hearing the sounds come out of that Stratocaster was nothing short of miraculous. RIP Stevie, you are missed.
I have the same story however I did not know who SRV was at the time, I think it was in 1985. My buddy dragged me there and told me "you have to see this guy"
This is Stevie AFTER he got clean and sober. Came back STRONG !!! It is written by Double Trouble about the situation they all were in. ALL SRV to me is 100 powerful. ZERO weak songs ever. I was luck enough to see him 7 times. 1st time on his very first tour, in SF. And right before he died. Just WOW
I saw him right before he broke out big Nationwide in a little club in Houston with a wall of Marshall amplifiers so loud it would shake your teeth but man did he Rock
Jeff what Memories 7 times wow 👌, Stevie is without Doubt one of The Greatest Guitar Players of All Time, easily in The Top 3 with Technique and Flow and just Mesmerising note and rhythm playing , Eddie Van Halen is on That Level too and the other is anyone's own favourite 🎸🎸🎸💯 Stevie Ray Vaughan Was a Musical Genius
Stevie's tragic death in 1990 hit me hard... probably as hard as John Lennon's in 1980. He was an unparalleled talent... and if you can believe it, some critics thought his vocals were his weakness. I, like you, LOVE his voice... from the gut and genuine! His "In Step" album showed a lot of growth IMO... and then he was gone. Please react to another great tune from the album, "Tightrope".... it's awesome too!
I saw him live on this tour, at his last show at Alpine Valley Wisc., and he was incredible! I had the privilege to see him 5-6 other times, but this last show was the best. When him, Clapton, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, and brother Jimmy all came out at the end of the show, and played Sweet Home Chicago, it was incredible to watch. Everyone of those guys had huge smiles on their faces watching Stevie take his solo! A once in a lifetime talent, and the guy who made the blues cool again.
@Tessmage Tessera So? These two have a personality you just can't fake. I don't doubt there are record labels out there still pushing music, so they can make money on old songs. I don't doubt there's probably a profit for playing certain songs. I look at reaction videos like our old DJ's or even Dick Clark's, rate the music. If it gets music heard again, and renews interest in some of the greats, I'm all for it.
Anytime I see Stevie, I know it will be an awesome reaction. The man was the best. I thank God I got to see him live the year he left us so tragically. I got tears watching this.
This whole album was written after Stevie Ray Vaughan was sober from alcohol and drugs and it shows his playing is just at another level on this album.
It's Texas white blues! Stevie Ray Vaughn used to play in Austin a lot and also here in Houston. He was a legend. He's also in my Top 5 favorite guitarists, which includes Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Santana!
I got to see SRV. I saw him in July and he blow the crowd away. Who would know that he would be gone within 2 months. I cried the the day past. I still cry whenever I hear a song by him to this very day. HE WAS THE GREATEST!!!!
I was living in Austin from 1980-1986 and got to see him countless times. One of the best was one of the free Wednesday concerts at Auditorium Shores. I got there early and his sound check was better than a lot of concerts.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Texas Flood"!!!! edit- this looks like its from "Austin City Limits", a series that I believe I caught on a PBS station. I still have the VHS tape I purchased of this concert called Live From Austin Texas.
SRV is my mom's favorite artist. I have the music for the first line of "Riviera Paradise" tattooed in a spiral around my forearm in her honor. My first concert was the 1991 Blues Fest in Dallas Texas with mom, and I've loved blues and southern rock ever since. What a great birthday present to receive. Thanks for bringing back some good times. Y'all are awesome, great reaction.
Big talent from Texas! I went to the same high school he attended, many years after he left since he was 8 years older than me. However, we always claimed bragging rites! His music reached so many heights, even in death. Imagine what he would have accomplished if we was still here!
This was such a huge crossover hit for SRV and the first song I ever listened to completely by him. I heard it on my rock station. And I'm still blown away by his talent.
I can’t tell you what greatness comes out of him and his guitar when you see him live!! Thank you god! Saw him live 1986! Awesome, awesome, awesome! My sister and I never sat down!! 😁😁😁
I know everyone has been saying this, but you HAVE to do "As my guitar gently weeps" with Prince, Tom Petty and others. The guitar playing is incredible...
Been a while since you did some SRV. I hope your next one will be the ultimate rock party anthem, "If the House is Rockin', Don't Bother Knockin'". It's a classic. I will ask y'all again to check out Joe Satriani, who names Jimi Hendrix and SRV as two of his biggest influences. I saw him in concert a week ago, and he's still AMAZING. Please react to "Surfing With the Alien", "Flying in A Blue Dream", "Dream Song", or "Ceremony". Joe is easily the greatest guitarist of all time that you have yet to react to.
I saw Joe Satriani in the Detroit area back in the late 80's(?--before 1992); was awesome! My personal favorite song of his is "Always With Me, Always With You". Another one they should check out is Steve Vai..."For The Love Of God" or "Bad Horsie".
It's official, 12 midnight. Happy Birthday in Heaven, Stevie Ray. We'll always love you and miss you. So great to be able to hear his amazing voice captured forever and the most incredible guitar sounds ever heard. Wish you were here, RIP, King SRV. ❤️💔💙 ☮️to all.
Tomorrow is SRV birthday October 3rd and in honor of it PLEASE PLEASE check out his sone Life Without you live at the Capital Theater I know you will really LOVE it
I saw him in ‘80 at a small club in Huntington Beach called the Golden Bear and actually sat next to him backstage before the concert! Of course he was high…but that didn’t affect his performance! Ahh memories!!!
Incredible, furious and mesmerizing. Saw him in 1985 in Harrisburg, PA on a warm summer evening. The crowd was pumped and Stevie Ray brought the goods! Sometime during the set, it started to rain while he was playing “Couldn’t Stand The Weather “. It was eerily reminiscent of the video of that tune, which had just been released. .. Gives me chills to this day.
His "Riviera Paradise" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" should be next up for you. Also check out a band called ARC Angels, they are made up of Double Trouble, Charlie Sexton, and Doyle Bramall Jr. You can easily hear the SRV influence on them. A couple to listen to are "Too many ways to fall" and "Sweet Nadine".
The final performance of Riviera Paradise at Alpine Valley hours before we lost him is like no other . You could almost feel with it that the Angels were about to call him home.
You Are Both Right,, Not Only Do You Get More Vocals In This One,, But You Also Get To Hear What An Awesome & Talented Band That "Double Trouble" Truly Are.
My favorite SRV song is "Life By the Drop" it's a cover and came out on the album released after his death. It's fantastic. I never get tired of hearing it. It shows a different side and depth to his singing that's different than a lot of his other songs.
Hi Amber and Jay! From this same concert Live at Austin City Limits. There are 2 more songs that I know you will both love with blistering solos. They are: Tightrope Leave My Girl Alone
Thanks, guys .. one of my absolute favorites!! I had the pleasure of seeing SRV in Atlanta GA 4 times. One time on New Year's Eve ..'86 maybe, the last time about 3 months before he died. I wouldn't take a million dollars for that! His music transcends time.
Gotta say that SRV and BB King are probably the best ever on guitar at vibrato. The way they can make a single note sustain is nothing short of amazing. Would love to see you guys hit "One of these Days" by Pink Floyd on the Meddle album. Cheers....
This was after he got sober and was enjoying life!! He had added Reece Wynans on keyboards and they were so very good!!! This is my favorite Austin City Limits!!!
I have that DVD from Austin City Limits it is one of the Best I have ever owned . I always love listening to his version of Mary had a Little Lamb on that DVD. I also watched this program when it aired on PBS
SRV was the best. Such an awesome performer. i had the wonderful opportunity to see him on his last tour, here in Sacramento with Jeff Beck. Two greats!!! When he died, I was crushed like so many others. Check out Texas Flood, Sky is Crying, Cold Shot. We lost him way too soon... RIP
Just a Bad dude playing a Bad song. It's funny you say "he plays aggressively" - he used really heavy gauged string - meaning that were very fat strings. Love your reaction on this. Yes, I am a Van Halen fan but when there is a bad dude like SRV, you just have to comment on it. I saw this concert on TV and this song made me an SRV fan!! Great pic guys!!!
Nobody could put the stank on a single note lick like Stevie. Had friends who were at the last show and heard the news driving home and had to pull over and cry
I’m sure others have pointed this out but that guitar is not “Lenny”, that one is his “First Wife” guitar. It was originally owned by Christopher Cross and Stevie picked it up in an Austin Music store. It’s definitely one of the all time iconic guitars.
And he's so incredibly articulate. One of the must deliberate guitarists i've ever listened to, and somehow he pulls it off looking so casual. RIP, Stevie - thank you so much for the musical love you shared.
Great reaction guys! A couple more songs you could put on your SRV list are, "Tin Pan Alley" with Johnny Copeland, and "Life Without You" at the Capitol Theatre. Both are absolutely epic performances. Rock on!🤘😁
Living in Dallas most of my life I saw Stevie play hundreds of times. We had so many great musicians to listen to, his brother Jimmy, Jack Morgan, Robin Sylar, Robert "Texas Slim" Sullivan, and "Bugs" Henderson. Of course there was Freddie King, "T-Bone" Walker before them and Doyle Bramhall II (who plays with Eric Clapton.) and current players in Dallas, Brian "Hash Brown" Callway, Perry Jones, Mike Morgan and "Buddy" Whittington and "Rocky" Athis, who played with the John Mayhall band.
Saw him in 85 or 86 at the University of Arizona. It was an earthquake relief concert Mexico. SRV opened followed by sets by Jackson Brown, Stevie Nicks, and then Don Henley. They all came out at the end and finished the concert playing Hotel California. Great night.
GREAT!!! SRV played always in a super high standard, but I like specially to see him in a good health, singing with eyes opened, awaken and in total control after the hell he went through with the use of drugs. The lyrics of Crossfire and some other song of the same LP talk about this and show Stevie´s strength to get over
One of his best! Timely, too as tomorrow he would have turned 68 and would still be among the very best. Imagine how much guitar virtuosity we were cheated out of by his death. More SRV: 'Empty Arms' 'Tightrope' 'If the House is A-Rockin'
Saw SRV many times as i am from Dallas, Texas. Was fortunate to get to sit with him lots at a little club called Mother Blues. He was so great. RIP SRV.
I got to know Stevie while I was in Austin at UT in the late 70s. He was playing someplace in Austin every night and was the first to ever play 7 nights a week. This was before any of the real fame. The last time I saw Stevie was at the Greek Theater in LA about 3 or 4 days before he passed away in the helicopter crash. I wonder what he would be playing now and what he would have created.
I was working at the Coliseum in Austin and saw tons of concerts. But the most amazing thing I've ever heard was SRV warming up. I had to stop what I was doing to just stand there and take it in!
When you tune in to the radio, you know it’s Stevie immediately just by his guitar. Few others had that of any. Also, he sounded even better live. Few others have that. He did, Rush did, name anyone else? I can’t. Been to hundreds of live concerts.
Had to be in 90..cause he died in aug of that year
I have the same story however I did not know who SRV was at the time, I think it was in 1985. My buddy dragged me there and told me "you have to see this guy"
Yeah, I graduated in 88 and I believe it was that summer, had to have been 88.
Tony Greene , so so jealous my Bucket list 3 hrs front row watching Stevie Ray Vaughan 😍😎 glad for you so cool
@@MichaelLynch1 oh wow no way! Lucky
This is Stevie AFTER he got clean and sober. Came back STRONG !!! It is written by Double Trouble about the situation they all were in. ALL SRV to me is 100 powerful. ZERO weak songs ever. If you are talking about his weakness, that's like saying Montana couldn't run. Nit picking.
I saw him live on this tour, at his last show at Alpine Valley Wisc., and he was incredible! I had the privilege to see him 5-6 other times, but this last show was the best. We appreciate you guys too! This is my FAVORITE reaction channel. Y’all are just so sweet and authentic.
Soulful rock… blows me away! Anyone with 3 names knows how to play it!
@Tessmage Tessera Finally someone speaks the truth!!

@Tessmage Tessera … They usually play what’s requested… I’m a big fan!!
I've listened to Stevie for the last 25 years! Listen to the studio version of thus song you get his full sound of his voice it's amazing
Anytime I see Stevie, I know it will be an awesome reaction. The man was the best. I thank God I got to see him live the year he left us so tragically. I got tears watching this.
I was fortunate enough to see SRV live three times. Once with Jeff Healey opening and another time with Joe Cocker opening. Concerts like no other.
Happy Birthday SRV!!!💞💞
"tightrope"from the same show is a great one too
This whole album was written after Stevie Ray Vaughan was sober from alcohol and drugs and it shows his playing is just at another level on this album.
"Wall Of Denial." 🤘

I'm FROM AUSTIN TEXAS! LOVE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN! I grew up listening to Amazing music like this!
I was living in Austin from 1980-1986 and got to see him countless times. One of the best was one of the free Wednesday concerts at Auditorium Shores. I got there early and his sound check was better than a lot of concerts.

Austin city limits always has great performances
He reviewed “Texas Flood” ruclips.net/video/DFcIy3BL6_Y/видео.html.
I was at Alpine Valley that fateful night. Blew Clapton away. Cried the entire next day.
THE
GOAT!
SRV was amazing,, He left us to soon.. RIP SRV.
I saw SRV perform 2 months before he died. It was mesmerizing.
This is one of my favorites by him
Another great musician who's life was cut short.
There is one more Stevie Ray Vaughan song you have to listen to its Tightrope.
Ive always said...when it comes to guitar there's Stevie....and there's everyone else.
That bass is down and dirty! SRV rules!
I think you would love “ Can’t Stand the Weather”….it is fire.
Y’all are living proof that there is plenty hope for the future.
Such an enormous talent a true legend in his own time. Hard to believe he was gone at only 36.
Yes, he makes it look easy, you’re like, I can do that!…Wrong!!. SRV is a guitar god and will always be. RIP.
This was such a huge crossover hit for SRV and the first song I ever listened to completely by him. I heard it on my rock station. And I'm still blown away by his talent.
It hit number one on Billboard's rock radio chart.
Thanks y'all. Please do - Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You - : 9/21/1985 - Capitol Theatre - Passaic, NJ
it's my favorite and was Recorded Live
SRV ( Tin Pan Alley) with Johnny Copeland....a Blues Song . Will blow your mind. I've been waiting for a year now...lol
Amazing ! Can't go wrong with SRV
Actually, Stevie's red guitar was named "Lenny." The one he's playing here was called both "Number One" and "First Wife"---just to clarify.
SRV is beyond anything I've ever seen especially when he goes off and nobody really expecting it .
He also used the heaviest string gauge. If you want your mind blown listen to Riviera Paradise of his live Austin City Limits.

Stevie Ray Vaughn was NO JOKE!!!
Tomorrow is SRV birthday October 3rd and in honor of it PLEASE PLEASE check out his sone Life Without you live at the Capital Theater I know you will really LOVE it
This was one of his that got a lot of radio play. What a talent.
It was a number one hit for him.
SRV 😎 Crossfire is outstanding. The Austin City Limits series of concerts are all fantastic to watch.
I saw him in ‘80 at a small club in Huntington Beach called the Golden Bear and actually sat next to him backstage before the concert! Of course he was high…but that didn’t affect his performance! Ahh memories!!!
Love SRV. Miss him so much. 👍🙏🏼🔥
NO BODY rocked like Stevie Ray!
Got to see him twice, awesome concerts, once in McAllen and the other time in South Padre Island, you can't go wrong with his music.
His "Riviera Paradise" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" should be next up for you. Also check out a band called ARC Angels, they are made up of Double Trouble, Charlie Sexton, and Doyle Bramall Jr. You can easily hear the SRV influence on them. You Are Both Right,, Not Only Do You Get More Vocals In This One,, But You Also Get To Hear What An Awesome & Talented Band That "Double Trouble" Truly Are.
You can hear SVR guitar on David Bowie’s album Lets Dance. It was his biggest hit album, and Stevie played guitar on it.
The live version of Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland should be on your list. It’s amazing.
His version of Voodoo Chile from that concert is epic
Oh, Jay, he was amazing to see in person. I feel so blessed that I saw him.
SRV doing his thing yeah great Jay and Amber awesome guys love you guys enjoy yourselves it’s a great day for Stevie Ray Vaughan
This was my intro to SRV back in the day. I'd heard of him but this is the first thing I heard by him. It was fire!
My favorite SRV song is "Life By the Drop" it's a cover and came out on the album released after his death. It's fantastic. I never get tired of hearing it. It shows a different side and depth to his singing that's different than a lot of his other songs.
I once attended a church where the band did this song as the “special music” on Sunday morning. Let’s just say that they got my attention…!
Tin Pan Alley live at Montreux
Hi Amber and Jay! From this same concert Live at Austin City Limits. There are 2 more songs that I know you will both love with blistering solos. They are:
Tightrope
Leave My Girl Alone
Thank you for that smile. SRV, was a talent no one could touch. Saw him years ago, just incredible. Thanks again.
If you want to see some great SRV talent, you need to see his guitar switch during Look at Little Sister, from that same concert. It’s unbelievable!
He broke a damn string and just kept rockin without it… then switched guitars mid song and didn’t miss a note
The man was amazing
SRV's Austin City Limits LIVE version of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" is probably my personal favorite. Glad you're diggin on some SRV!
"Spoke too soon!" Yeah, and we knew what was coming!! How fun. Thanks, guys. You lift me up.
Tightrope has one of Stevie's best solo's ever.
The best of the best! Never has been and never will be another like him💕
Gotta say that SRV and BB King are probably the best ever on guitar at vibrato.
I always enjoy watching another fan-boy listening to the great Stevie Ray 👍 🙂😊🤣🥰
Love SRV.. could listen to him 24/7. Thanks for getting back to him.
I was introduced to SRV's music by a friend from Canada, (RIP Mick) and have never looked back! Keep reacting to his music guys.
RIP

Simply 1 of the finest ever written & performed of all time! Am so glad you got to experience it yourselves. It adds to your great character ;- ]
To me it's that I'm watching GREATNESS!!!! U can't explain it but I recognize it when I c it. A true legend!!!
Nobody could put the stank on a single note lick like Stevie. Had friends who were at the last show and heard the news driving home and had to pull over and cry
In My Book,, Anyone That Can Play/Back Up Someone Like Stevie,, Deserves Respect & Some Kind Of Award 🤪🎸
I’m sure others have pointed this out but that guitar is not “Lenny”, that one is his “First Wife” guitar. It was originally owned by Christopher Cross and Stevie picked it up in an Austin Music store. It’s definitely one of the all time iconic guitars.
The absolute best. He was just amazing
Everything you react to him, I remember again how lucky I was to see him live. Thanks guys.
And he's so incredibly articulate. One of the must deliberate guitarists i've ever listened to, and somehow he pulls it off looking so casual.
RIP, Stevie - thank you so much for the musical love you shared.

More SRV:
'Empty Arms'
'Tightrope'
'If the House is A-Rockin'
Empty arms….yes great song.
Saw SRV many times as i am from Dallas, Texas. Was fortunate to get to sit with him lots at a little club called Mother Blues. He was so great. RIP SRV.

Nice shirt... That reminds me, more *KISS* please !!! ...Try *"Tears* *Are* *Falling"* 🤟
Saw SRV back in 89 with Johnny Winters opening.. Awesome show..
