    Returning home from work, traffic jams, eat, watch BKXC new video's, sleep, dreaming about these virtual trips, wake up, eat, traffic jams, work... at least this channel is giving me positive energy, keeping me focused for the next spring eMTB and MX rides... amazing footage, positive energy as always. Thx a lot.

      That train route is one of the ten legendary train rides. Basically one of the ten bucket list train rides to exprience before you die.
      It's full route is #7.
      Amtrak's California zyhper is #6
      Amtrak's empire builder ( Seattle to Chicago)#5
      #2 is Australia's gazelle.( a train ride from port Adella to Darwin.) (if you are lucky to be on the first summer ride you get a sunset BBQ in the Outback. They even have a special siding just for that)

I've been to St. Moritz at the end of last April when I shuttled my Dad to St. Moritz for a 80th birthday trainride to Tirano & back. The grip shift problem is not an excuse, it is a legitimate ergonomic concern. The same goes for the difficulty of getting into very easy gears -- the ones you are most likely to need *right now*. The system needs work.

    • @piciu256
      @piciu256 6 лет назад

      You can get used to the grip shift and not being able to shift gears under load, just shift in advance or stop pushing for a split second, for me a bigger issue is the double freewheel (both in the transmission and in the hub itself)

    • @kitten-inside
      @kitten-inside 6 лет назад

      Those are split seconds you do not have in rough terrain. Getting used to the *required* added movements does not make them disappear. You can not anticipate everything, and that is how the standard shifting setup became standard. It just does not care how you fucked up, it will work regardless.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  6 лет назад

      Yep, I agree the ergonomics didn't quite work with my riding position, it felt like a pretty big distance. I'll be riding another gearbox bike in January in NZ and I'm curious to see if the "easy gear" shifting thing will happen on that bike as well.

The comments you have of them are the reason I thought they were not used any more, because they far inferior shifting system than what out now.

      I'm sure Brian doesn't want this to become an e-bike discussion board, but I will say this. If I'm headed out to a trail system where I want to cover 50-60 miles over a couple of days, at nearing 50, and it doesn't have any bigger jumps, drops, or sketch rock gardens that I LOVE to ride....I might consider an eBike just to enjoy the adventure aspect of it, cover more ground, and not be completely wiped out following the ride. I would have never said that a few years ago, but now that they are becoming so mainstream, it's hard not to feel ike at some point...just to ride with your buddies who have one...it won't almost be a necessity.
