Stanley Myers - Cavatina (Theme from The Deer Hunter) Piano Solo

- I recorded this piano arrangement (Cecil Bolton) of Cavatina by Stanley Myers in memory of my mum, nan & grandad who all loved this piece. The John Williams arrangement was famously used in the film The Deer Hunter which is a true classic. I thoroughly recommend you have a watch if you haven't already! But be warned, it is mighty sad.

This brings back so many memories. I played the exact same arrangement back in the 80s (that's the 1980s for you generation alphas out there). Thank you for playing this so beautifully!

Beautiful playing. My favourite piano performance of this piece by far. The dynamics and feeling are spot on for me, and evoke the same emotions as listening to John Williams playing it on classical guitar. Thank you for sharing :-)

I have loved Stanley Meyers' "Cavatina" since I first heard it decades ago, played by John Williams on guitar, of course. As an amateur pianist, I have learned it pretty well that way, but now I have started to learn your arrangement. Just beautiful.
I'm glad that I was at home, rather than in a public place, the first time I watched your video, because the tribute to your Mom and her lovely photo brought tears to my eyes. My own mother was a classically-trained concert pianist and nightclub pianist and singer, and she was my piano teacher. Long gone, now. Memories... 💖🌹

Absolutely no disrespect as it is beautifully played but I would like to hear you render this at a slower tempo as on piano the sentiment is more fully appreciated and received at a gentler cadence.Thank you🙏🏽
Thanks for your comment. No disrespect taken at all. You have a point regarding the tempo. It certainly wouldn't harm the piece for it to be performed a little slower. :)

Yamaha YDP-131. She's an oldie. The sounds in the video are from virtual instrument software though. I use PianoTeq.
