- This is Manipis Road in Talisay City. Considered by many as the most dangerous major road in the entire Cebu Province. Connecting the western seaboard of Cebu to the east. Manipis road has full of sharp curves, steep cliffs, slippery downhill portions and the most terrifying falling rocks. Highway authorities always warn the public not to take the Manipis Road when rain has been going on for many days as it softens the already loose soil and rocks. Along the route, there are landslide-prone portions. Although slope-protection and riprap construction has been installed and constructed, Manipis Road remains to be Cebu's Dangerous Road. Taking this road would mean to many a perilous journey across Central Cebu Mountain Ranges but still remains attractive to motorists, drivers, cyclicts and even joggers because of the majestic and towering ranges that catches everyone's attention. Good thing is, there are spots where vehicles are allowed to park so travellers can enjoy and behold the stunning views along Manipis Road. This video is for entertainment only! Kinahanglan ang DPWH and City of Talisay mag control anang mga houses or tindahan encroaching the road and illegal constructions of structures that can obstruct the natural beauty of the area. It's indeed a selfie worthy area for people to appreciate. Thanks for sharing the mighty Manipis Road.

Bai, Salamat sa pag feature nimo sa Manipis Road. Brings back lots of memories niadtong nag trabaho pa ko sa ACMDC Lotupan. Everyday ko nag travel ani nga road to and from Cebu City sometime late 70's. Dili pa cementado ni niadto ug diyutay pa kaau ang mga balay. Virgin pa kaau ang mga talan-awon niadto from Campo 4 up to Campo 7. Enjoy kaau ko sa sceneries early mornings going up. That was the time of "Nine Brothers", "Jegans", "Swift", ABC ug Corominas bus liners. Few times hapit jud ni "maanhing" akong kinabuhi diri. Pasalamat lang sa protection ni Lord niadto. Kaniadto, we used to pass that way going to Tugbungan. But that time the road was not paved yet. Tama ka na na dunay point diha na only one vehicle can pass thru. There’s a post on both ends to control the traffic. Sooo scary and there are more accidents before, buses fell down and it takes days to recover the injured people. I’m soo glad to know and see the improvements that has been done. Thank you sooo much for sharing your experience with us. Sooo beautiful!!! It brings back old memories.
5 days after this video was taken, I passed by over here. A big road improvement after 8.5 years, the time I first entered Manipis road. Wl kapugngi nkahunong gyud kos viewing deck for a selfie. Thnx for sharing Bai Gawens😊

I was born and went to school in Oslob, Cebu but i have never gone to this Manipis road. During my college days ín 1979 in Cebu, I hear a lot of accidents happened on this road with a lot of passengers working as miners in Toledo City. Presently I am residing in Antipolo City, Rizal.

Lush foliage, fresh mountain air, off the beaten path … was this the way to the mining place Atlas Mining? What happened to it? It was a big economic hub in the 70s! Does the place still have copper? Thank u, Sir Gawens! Enjoyed this immensely!
Nagwelga mga tao at lumiit na ang copper-gold production. Yung ibang trabahante binayaran ng atlas at lumipat sila sa LaFarge Batangas at Rizal. Ang lugar may iniwang malaking hukay sa gitna na puno ng tubig na nakakalason.
When all the copper's gone Lutopan would become a ghost mining town. Just like of the many mining towns in the world. Typical examples are the ghost mining towns in the US ... gold, copper, iron, oil and so on. When the minerals are depleted. Then what would you think the residents will do? Answer: they'll leave the town! 😭

'manipis' means thin. Passing that route means you're travelling on the thin line between life and death.
got its name from how the road was like a one and a half lane for how narrow it was back then, like you can literally look over the edge of a cliff when passing there..we used to pass through here to reach Cebu before the Naga-Uling road was built
Although it is now wider compared to what it was in the 60's and 70's where buses take turn just to pass some portions of Manipis. Although, I must admit it needs more improvements. 😁🇵🇭

people sure like to BUILD their houses and stores right up next to the highway, or was the highway EXPANDED right up next to the already existing houses and stores along the highway? is there any LAW in the Philippines that require a MINIMUN DISTANCE or SETBACK for a building next to a highway? This issue is on all roads on Cebu, and not just this road. My late wife is from Carcar, Cebu, and we would drive the Carcar to Barili road going to Dumanjug and the other side of Cebu, and i could handle that road with my 2004 toyota diesel Van. However, i have never driven on the road to Toledo City, either from Naga City or from "Tabunok" which is the road featured in this video. Just my opinion but the buildings along the highway seems to be too close to the edge of the road or highway. A vary nice touring or road trip video. Amping (*_*)
