  • Worcestershire Beacon, Malvern Hills, by Meyra Optimus 2 Powerchair from the Wyche. Then around North Hill and Table Hill on Lady de Walden Drive.
Plenty of power and battery but tyres not suitable for some rock, loose gravel and grass. Had to move well forwards over the driving wheels to get a grip. Will look to get off-road tyres fitted.

How does this chair do on pebbly/ shingly beaches? Thanks for the video - looks great.

I've not used it on a beach. However, all chairs & scooters need firm shingle or they sink in. I've taken a Tramper from Milford to Hurst Castle on the shingle spit. It's OK if you stay on the firm ground but if you go onto loose shingle your chair needs recovering

@@jrcuthbertson that's really helpful, thank you. I heard that the magic mobility extreme X8 does well on shingle beaches, but it is very expensive!

@@zephyr2888 It's hard to see how the X8 would do any better on loose shingle as it has the same tyres as many chairs/scooters. Why not join our Facebook Group and ask the folk on there for advice? facebook.com/groups/DisabledRamblers

Thanks, I actually just found your fb group and joined today. Great to find other wheelchair users who love being out in nature too.

You should try to gain access to the greenway which runs from leek Staffordshire to Rudyard lake Staffordshire, along the old railway track its impossible for a mobility scooter. They have A frame barriers at both ends.

The result of a case in the court of Appeal might stop A-Frames being used: www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=%2Few%2Fcases%2FEWCA%2FCiv%2F2021%2F1098.html&query=(CO%2F3695%2F2019)&fbclid=IwAR1_mdrlIrxYbUVRHLCk0-4NxUpD9ypbS8sSelRaWJzAdl8GaOlpuIsoL44

This comment is ablist. People use chairs for many different reasons. It is possible to be able to walk a few metres, but not repeatedly, and not longer distances. Some people use a chair because they have extreme fatigue or pain that worsens on exertion. And so many other reasons. A wheelchair is an amazing mobility device, just like a bike or a car. Let's respect people's choices. This chair looks amazing - can bring so much freedom to someone's life - which is something to celebrate!
