- BOOK HAUL!!! I found SO many great books at Half Price Book's 20% off sale, including one of my rarest holy grail finds. I cannot believe I found such a collectible book at Half Price Books for so cheap! IT by Stephen King is so hard to get as a first edition unless you're willing to shell out $60 or more. Now this has a happy place in my Stephen King first edition collection, along with all the other awesome books I found at the sale! I hauled so many great books, including some vintage horror paperbacks, Goosebumps books and early works by R.L. Stine, vinatge science fiction and fantasy books, Baby-Sitters Club, Sweet Valley, scary middle grade books, new thrillers, books by Alice Hoffman, and so many more books for my ever-growing collection. I stumbled upon a Stephen King goldmine a couple of years ago at a library book sale. I'm talking 30ish books, most of them either first or second printings, $2 a piece. Promptly bought them all and brought them home and realized they all had come from a woman's collection who had recently passed. It's sweet because almost each book was gifted to her from different members of her family as they were being published (there's little inscriptions in most of them). I can only hope it would make her happy to know a fellow Constant Reader has given them the same love she has. They're all prominently displayed in my library as my pride and joy 😂
Aww, I love this!! I’m glad her books went to a loving home. I hope the same for my own library one day. Maybe by then they’ll be displayed in museum. Only time will tell if these books will garner that kind of treatment in the future.

@@LibraryMacabre I think I have said this once already.. but in fact think your library will surpass your life as well❤ the idea of museum sounds nice , I hope it does.. but if not there’s hope for your future kids .. look .. idk ok… 😂 your collection will go around for sure. It has so much geeky love in it and I can feel it even though I’m not a horror fan. ( I just recently picked up a goosebumps book because of you .. and I agree with your thoughts on it , they might be simply written but the plot is actually quite fun .. I quite enjoyed them )
I have to say it, your library must smell like heaven with all these vintage horror paperbacks on the shelves. if i were a ghost, i'd very much love to haunt it ❤😄
Haha It does smell good! You may have to compete with all the other ghosts to haunt it though. The place is riddled with them. 😂
Also RL Stine is currently working on a comic book series with Boom Studios. It’s called Stuff of Nightmares. On the darker side of things and is pretty good.

I found Turbo Cowboys in a little free library outside of the excellent City Museum in St. Louis. I wish my copy was in as good a condition as yours.

Thank you for the nostalgia and some gothic books I have now added to my list! The Only One Left is now at the top. I also have Murder She Wrote on DVD. Murder Takes the Bus, Incident in Lot 7 (Psycho house ep) and Nan's Ghost are my top 3 favorite episodes. Cozy mysteries are the best. I recommend Midsomer Murders for cozy British mysteries. 😊

I’ve always loved horror novels since I was a child but your channel and videos have really made me get back into the hobby of collecting horror novels again. There’s so much out there and places like Half Price Books are just a wallet killer for me now but I’m loving it!

The last one left was awesome With a great twist ending. Riley Sager is definitely become one of those authors that I have to read everything he publishes

Haha I almost screamed when I saw it 😂 I don’t know how! Just sheer luck. I doubt it had been on the shelf for very long, otherwise someone else would have snatched it up way before me.

I’m just now starting to rebuild my library. It got destroyed when I was younger, along with the books my mother had lined up to give me when I was old enough for Stephan king and the like, and I’m realizing that I basically quit reading after that. Reading again has been unbelievably uplifting

I knew it was going to be Stephen King’s IT! So happy for you! My country’s too small to ever find first editions of books like that. IT is my favourite book of all time. Interestingly now know I’m 3 years your senior, was always curious.

I watched MSW from the start. It still comes on TV all the time. These days I turn it on as background noise. In 2004-2005 it came on weekdays for four hours a day and that was my writing time. I wrote a couple of novels that way but I can't tell which ones they are. 😥😄

I don't know because I sold them as a ghostwriter. Both had a teenage female protagonist because that was the request. The first one began dream-like. It was a fantasy with magic. The other started faster with a lot of dialogue as a group of friends got ready to go out on the town. It was like a Nancy Drew with magic powers. I can't concentrate well enough to be a ghostwriter now. It's hard to type on this device so sorry if my writing is bad.@@LibraryMacabre

That Black Easter is a jackpot too. The whole loose trilogy (alongside A Case of Conscience and Doctor Mirabilis) are pretty pricy.
I think they’re only a trilogy thematically though. Wikipedia says James Blish only realized they formed a trilogy after the third book, lol.

Flametree Press does a lot of Gothic Horror short story collections that I think you would like. The only catch is that they have a lot of other anthologies which can be hazardous to a completionist.
Yeah, that’s the only reason I haven’t started collecting them… There’s so many, and knowing me I’d have to get them all. 😂

I've started collecting shows my parent's used to watch when I was little & a teen: M.A.S.H., Quantum Leap, Macgyver, Columbo, Tales from the Darkside, & Star Trek. This collection also means video games; so I currently have: Home Alone, Willow, Dick Tracy, & Gilligan's Island.
In fact, when I was in Half Priced Books in Sacramento, I found some Quantium Leap books (about 5 or 6) & snagged them for about $3 each.
Edit: Murder She Wrote is on my to get list.

I am happy that you found the first edition of It 😀 I do not like The Funhouse by Koontz. I have never seen Murder She Wrote 😱 my grandma used to watch it when I was a kid so I saw bits and pieces here and there. However, I used to watch Matlock and Diagnosis Murder with my mom 😉. I just recently bought two Clare McNalley books. Can't wait to read them! I have seen a few things on Pango by R.L. Stine that I have never heard of like Golden Sword of Dragonball, Rotten School, Nightmare Room, and Broken Date. But I mostly just knew him for Goosebumps, Fear Street, and Point Horror.

The suspense killed me on what first edition you found ! So awesome! I loved reading the choose your plot books in elementary school. Mom used to have a few but not sure what happened to them.

Oh my word! Such a good book haul! I totally forgot about the Time Machine books! I'm pretty sure we had a few of them as kids but unless my older brother still has them, they are probably gone to Goodwill at some point. Also yay for the Star Wars Galaxy of Fear books! I definitely recommend reading books 1-6 in order as they form a complete story arch!
And the Berenstain Bears Freaky Funhouse! Such a fun one too! Also -- Murder, She Wrote is the best! Definitely have all 12 seasons and go back to it regularly!

I was excited to find a 1st edition paperback of Pet Semetery $1.29 a couple of weeks ago! I screamed for joy I have been looking everywhere. But I can't read it. The spine has never been cracked

Wow! Great finds! I actually have a first edition hardcover of Carrie. I didn’t find it at Half Price books though. I searched forever. Half Price books and my local indie book store said they never get that one so I had to get it online. It’s my favorite SK book so far so I wanted to first edition so bad.

The first edition of IT has great cover. I think I have a book club in that regard because the price tag spot was snipped, so someone somewhere probably tried to sell a bookclub as a 1st edition lol (I got it for cheap).

I remember finding out about Dinatopia as a kid after checking a book out from the series from the library and becoming obsessed with the series. This was around the same time I got into Godzilla and Walking with Dinosaurs and now im trying to find them too to re-read them.
I wish you the best of luck tracking them all down! That was such a great time for dinosaur-lovers to be alive. 😅

I own the first edition of IT by Stephen King!!! I paid $40 for my copy, though. I got it at Dark Star Books and Comics in Yellows Springs, Ohio.
I love Dark Star Books! I go there a lot. Current Cuisine next door is one of my fave places to get lunch. Haha

The Sorority by Tamara Thorne is actually a trilogy. There's Eve, Merilynn and Samantha. It's not bad at all, I found it to be good and creepy.

I feel like I saw the first edition Shining hardcover at that Beavercreek HPB like last month. Have you been out to Browse Awhile Books in Tipp City? They have a bunch of vintage horror paperbacks. They're a little expensive but less than an ebay price.
Hey!! I hope you picked up that Shining hardcover! I went to Browse Awhile about a month ago to drop off some signed copies of my books. I found quite a stack while I was there, though I agree they can be a bit pricey. I have to look hard to find books that are a decent price.
What...the Berenstain Bears had chapter books. I only knew of the little Golden books (same with Cliford & Critters).
Though I do own the whole series of the animated show (Berenstain Bears) on DVD.

How do you feel about the ending of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? I typically love ambiguous endings. Something about Sleepy Hollow doesn’t sit right with me, though.

I think the people that don't like deckled edges are part of that bizarre trend where some people are shelving their books with the pages facing outward instead of the spine. I am suspicious about if they ever actually read their books, or use them just for decoration.
Yeah, there’s no way anyone who faces the books pages out are actually reading those books. How do they find anything??
Hardcovers being $22 in 1986 would be about $45 in today’s date. Thats so expensive for a book.
Indeed! They were rarely that expensive back then. I think because it was so thick, and by then King was a household name so they knew it would sell regardless. I’m sure it was discounted at most retailers though.

What was so different about Psycho 2 that you hated it? I haven't read either the first or the second psycho.
Psycho 2 does some things with Norman’s character that rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t want to spoil it for you or anyone else in the comments, but I recommend the film version of Psycho 2 over the book. It’s a solid movie.

No, according to the RUclips analytics people would skip over the intro so I decided it was too long and removed it. But I may bring it back in some fashion in the future :)

I have nothing to do with it, nor do any other content creators on here, so you should never ever take it out on us, by any means. If you posted a video and I watched it, I might get the same political ad you saw on my video. And if I shouted at you in the comments about it, that would be immature and unfair of me. An angry response is never the way. I try to keep my channel as positive place as I can, and I won’t have anyone shattering that.
