I personally cannot stand creases in book covers - especially the ones created from poor shipping. ARGGGG....no one I know really understands my frustration with this, but I think here I am among friends, LOL. If it's a used book I am seeing in person and I really want it, that's different and I will make an exception. But if I buy a new book off amazon and it comes damanged (this is more the case than not) I will immediately make them replace it. PET PEEVE indeed! So I feel your pain! Good to see a "sample" patreon video, am enjoying it! I really love Alfred Hitchcock horror anthologies...grew up with them. Haunted Houseful is my favorite. I also love library hardcover books, I don't know why...I always loved libraries as a kid.
Congrads on getting "Graveyard Moon." I read that when I was a kid and found a copy some time ago. One of my favorite of the 90s teen horror books. Sound advice too on finding rare books. Don't jump at the first chance to get them since you may end up paying through the roof for something you could find for a much sounder price elsewhere. Patience is the name of the game. (Related, you're correct on how some of the "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" book series have absurdly high prices, which makes it difficult to have a complete collection. "Restless House", however, is pretty well-priced.)
I’m excited to read it! It sounds very atmospheric to me. Good luck with your Are You Afraid of the Dark collection! Mine is still quite minimal, but I’m working on it. :)
Thanks for the free video! I grew up with Fear Street and Sweet Valley High. I read the first three SVH books a few years ago and I couldn't believe how terrible Jessica was! I didn't remember her being quite that bad as a kid lol. I remember when Charmed first came out. I was at a sleepover with my cousins and it scared the crap out of us! I loved it! Watching it now is definitely cheesy but I still love it. I have never heard of Terror Academy before but ironically last week I picked up Summer School at my local used bookstore.
I just became a patron. About time! I just needed to get my finances in order, but I seem to be in a good place now. Thank you for all that you do, Cameron! I can't wait to go back and watch those older Patreon videos. I am so looking forward to Autumncrow High: Fresh Hell. It sounds like you are going more for a Christopher Pike approach over the straightforward RL Stine approach to YA Horror, and I am so here for it. I enjoy the Fear Street books and RL Stine's Point Horror books, but Christopher Pike often brings emotional gravity and the unexpected to his works, and I like that. Also, I am up for reading vlogs on more obscure ya horror series. Like you said, those vlogs might give us an idea whether those series are worth tracking down.
Thanks so much for becoming a patron! Yes, Autumncrow High will be like Fear Street, but if written by Pike. I like telling stories that are a little more tragic. It’s hard for me to write happy stories, so the people of Autumncrow have a lot to fear. 👻
Read The Haunting of Hill House, Words of Radiance Part 1, Horrorstor, Lord of the Flies, Tegan and Sara’s Memoir High School, just started The Southern Book Clubs Guide to Slaying Vampires and playing Zelda BOTW in-between. Have free time due to illness and bereavement. Find horror is cathartic when going through rough patches. Looking forward to your new book. Hope it ships to Ireland as lots of books that go to the UK won’t be shipped to Ireland.
Came acrossyourchannel a couple of weeks ago and subscribed straight away, now I have just joined your patreon, excited for all the content to catch up on!
Thank you!! I got the shirt at Walmart years ago. Actually, I hadn’t worn it in a long time, and when I pulled it out of my closet for this video, I saw it has a giant bleach stain at the bottom 😭
I was waiting for a new video by you for a while, and you did not disappoint! Vc Andrews Petals on the Wind, is one of my favorite books by her, definitely gives you more of the dollanganger family insight after the trauma they went through, and the journey to overcome that. I got my 1st edition Copley last year after searching for years for it, and I’m so happy that you, as a fellow collector got one! I really do enjoy your videos! Can’t wait for the next season! 😄🎉
So glad I caught this video, because I remembered seeing the Barf O Rama books advertised in Nickelodeon Magazine as a kid, but I could only remember what some of the covers looked like, not the book names or the series name. It's been bothering me for so long. I couldn't find anything googling, and was thinking I just made them up. I will definitely be seeking these out myself!
Manly Wade Wellman is everywhere this week. Valancourt is reissuing a series of short stories that feature the same character -- Silver John -- who appears in the book After Dark. I really like the Wellman books and even have a soft spot for the 70s drive-in movie The Legend of Hillbilly John based on them.
Manly Wade Wellman is one of my favorite authors. “After Dark” is horror. Valancourt is reprinting the original John the Balladeer short fiction… those stories come HIGHLY recommended.
I've been a patron for a while now, and I can confirm for RUclips viewers that by joining, you'll get all the Library Macabre-style content you love and more. Highly recommended if you already enjoy LM on RUclips.
Loved the Sweet Valley High geek out, made me want to start reading them too. I grew up watching Buffy first and didn't find Charmed until I was in high school but once started, I was hooked. Had no idea they did a bluray release! I've been revisiting the first season on my dvds haha
I went to an old book store that's going out of business and grabbed the first 20 sweet valley twins and 3 super editions! One is the Sweet Valley High Camp Killer! I've never actually read Sweet Valley but guess it's time I started!
Always great to see a new video from you, Cameron. I love Rebel Without a Cause, as well. East of Eden is my favorite James Dean movie and worth checking out if you haven’t (but I’m sure you probably have). As for V, I adored that miniseries as a teenager. It’s not 10 hours (but might be if you include the sequel miniseries). The sequel miniseries veers off from the original author’s vision, to the point he left the production. That story is not included in the novelization. He did just write a sequel novel a few years back called V: The Second Generation, which was surprisingly good. It’s a sequel to the original miniseries (and book you have), but ignores the sequel miniseries. It’s worth tracking down a copy. There are also several single story V paperbacks that were kind of fun. Then there’s V: The Series (from the 80s, not the 2000s remake), which was a continuation of the two miniseries. It ran for one season and didn’t do very well, but die-hard fans loved it. Always enjoy hearing your thoughts, Cameron!
Thanks, John! It says on the cover that it’s “based on the 10 hour miniseries,” so upon further research I see it does include the sequel series. With commercials, I believe it added up to 10 hours combining the two. I’ll need to check it all out! Also, I love East of Eden!
I just recently started looking for the Flowers In The Attic series. I bought and read them all in the 80s. Wish I would have kept my old books. There is a prequel, it's called Garden of Shadows. Wasn't sure if you knew that.
I haven't read your AutumnCrow going to check it out and order it from Amazon then can't wait to read your Next book. Love your channel and your book recommendations
I start a lot of manuscripts. 😆 For a while, I've been writing short poems because I can't concentrate on novel writing. I always enjoy looking at the book cover art.
V from the 80's is so worth tracking down. Robert Englund, Mark Singer, Michael Ironside. As you like 80's movies the effects and aesthetics shoukd be OK.
V the first miniseries was followed by V: The Final Battle miniseries, but then there was a continuation TV series of V. Best thing about the TV series was that most episodes opened with a short newscast by real-life retired news anchor Howard K. Smith. He reported stories like joint Israeli-Palestinian attacks on the Visitors and an Underground Railroad to get escapees from the South to safety up North. The second V novel, V: East Coast Crisis sort of has the flavor of those newscasts--it tells the story of what was happening in New York while the miniseries was all about Los Angeles.
I'm in the UK and happen to have 4 random Creepers books if you'd like them? They are in pretty good shape (not perfect) and only 1 is a first printing...but the offer still stands! 😅

Hello! I’ll be coming back, just taking some time to produce videos for season 2 and to get the book ready. I’ll be back at the end of summer or early fall. I’m very hard at work making videos, they just take so much time to film and edit, so I need to take these kinds of breaks to make them happen. If you’re able, I do have casual videos on my patreon that I post every week. They’re not big productions like these are, so I’m able to post them more frequently there.
Maybe because he uploads less than before? 🤷🏻♂️ His videos are never in my feed anymore. If it weren’t for Patreon I would think he just disappeared. 😅
