      It makes no sense to do this on purpose in a tournament setting. Maybe in a championship... maybe. But not in tournament. It makes no sense. There's so many other games to go after. He was skiing, got stuck in traffic, had to change out of his joggers, was late coming back. It happens.

      Why ? Got stuck in traffic again.
      It shows a lot of disrespect to his opponents and to me it should be illegal because it's a huge psychological advantage on many people : some may get upset, some may lose concentration, some may feel humiliated or distracted, etc...

    Question, does the touch rule apply here? I know Magnus touches a rook 1st which there isn't a legal move for it to make. But let's say Magnus touched a pawn first when straightening out his pieces, would he be forced to make a move with that pawn?

    • @pilot8720
      @pilot8720 Год назад +10

      no, you basically express when you are straightening, either verbally, or it is assumed when you are already straightening out pieces, you will notice once hes straighten them he stops for a second, then makes a more exaggerated move to actually make that first move. So it's obvious to the opponent and the arbiter what is him straightening, and then what is him actually going to make his first move.
