    I'm very interested in your opinion here! 1. What do you think of the discs? and 2. How do you think I could have handled things differently or better if at all?
    Looking forward to seeing more from H13 and other smaller brands! Appreciate you :)

      I think there's a balance between being a risk for brands (in giving negative reviews), and giving veiwer's an honest opinion. Maybe if you don't like EVERY disc, just don't post the video, and give the company some constructive feedback. If you like some of the discs then it's kind of the best of both worlds: where brands can save face, and viewers feel like they're getting an honest review.

    If you never give a bad review, why would we trust the good ones? I think you did fine here. You gave stuff a fair shake, shared your honest opinion, tried to nail down root issues (hard plastic and rim oddities), and even tried to convert your negative opinions into constructive feedback. Thanks for the video!

    I appreciate your honesty on this review. Some just need to understand that because these discs aren’t for you doesn’t make them bad discs. Just like there are discs you love and some dislike. I understand it’s tough on you to give a company a “bad” review, but keep putting out the great content.

    I'm honestly very surprised we don't see MORE bad reviews in the DG space. Seems like nobody wants to ruffle any feathers. I get why, but we kind of NEED you to call it how you see it. If you can't afford to, I'm not sure anyone can.

    I’m a fan of the wanderlust (12 speed) and embark (3 speed) but I agree the plastic is a bit stiff and slick. I’m not a fan of the adventurer, or the companion because I can’t seem to get my release right. I’d love to see the embark in premium plastic. I think the manufacturer would love to hear your thoughts, it was probably a bit soon for a young company to be asking for reviews (IMO) but part of being young is trial and error. I believe H13 has a bright future, especially after feeling/throwing their newest plastics

    Im probably in the silent minority that doesn't really want the sport to grow too much. This honest review is super helpful. Keep being honest! I dunno about H13 but not all companies are jumping into disc golf for the right reasons *coughlonestarcough*. We already have so many great, time-tested, dedicated manufacturers that all make discs for every shot shape physics will allow within the PDGA disc regulations. There's a genuine difference between passionate innovation like TrashPanda, and random offbrands hiring established manufacturers to get a little piece of the pie. I dont know anything about H13, maybe great people, its just my 2 cents.

    Giving bad reviews mean you’re honest. There’s no way every review has to be positive. Anyways, these molds are probably Gateway rejects that they’re leasing out to this third-party.

    I love them. I am sponsored by them but the driver is the best driver I have thrown in a long time. The companion is such a terrific disc that fills a spot and flight I can’t get with anything else. I’m not a fan of the adventurer for the same reasons as u and the putter is dead straight and glidey so terrific for C2 bids.

    You shouldn't feel bad giving your honest review of the discs. Without feeling the discs, it's difficult to give my opinion. But I have played with different gateway discs over the years and some of their plastics are terrible. What I would call cheap or toy plastic. In 2021, I played in a trilogy challenge and the putter was the Emac judge. This was a mold I liked and putted well with their "classic" plastic. Unfortunately, trilogy cheaped out on the event and used a cheap or toy plastic for this putter and it was really hard and difficult to putt and throw with. With so many disc manufacturers and a lot of similar molds these days, I usually go by plastic feel when purchasing a disc.

  • @Arctic3OD
    @Arctic3OD 3 дня назад

    According to my armchair analysis the discs have
    1) a low shoulder with dome to increase glide and turn
    2) "oddities" under the rim to increase stability
    Basically they're normal discs with extra steps. I'm sure they performed great in a physics simulation, but in reality there are too many variables.

    It seems like you had an idea of what you thought they should be, and just couldnt convince yourself to trust the flights you observed. With flight numbers and disc shapes, sometimes it can be tough to get our assumptions out of our head.

  • @DiscGolfDom23

    The Companion is good. It's a niche slot but it fills it well. I wish that it were a bit more torque resistant.
    Gateway's 7 speeds are all really similar and I haven't gotten along with any of them. Tried them all across all of their sister companies and decided to bag several Chameleons instead.
    Wanderlust should be a good disc. I think the stiffness is from their nylon blend. NXT to me tends to have the perfect amount of rim stiffness but also good give in the flight plate. Nylon, though, is hard AF and not for everyone.
    Gateway is an appealing manufacturing partner because Dave can just combine tops and bottoms of existing molds and make new discs. Low cost of entry. Some of those experiments turn out phenomenal, others not so much. I still think Gateway plastic is on par with the industry standards and their molds, while unconventional most of the time, are pretty darn good, and only getting better.

    Based on the look of the discs, ew. Ugly colors, no designs or stamps, awkward looking shapes with the shoulders and bulkiness of them. Also, what a weird name for a disc company. Hole 13 or H13 makes sense. Hi3 sounds weird especially when the e is a 3. I wouldn't buy them based on the colors alone. I feel as if a bunch of stoners decided to make discs and chose the weird pastel colors to be different. The shapes of the discs are just super weird!

    • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  3 дня назад +3

      Seems like dg language has moved onto calling it a nose bead. That's the only way I've heard this style of rim referred to before. For instance, on Innova's site it says the Racer has a "beaded rim"
      Probably both right, just dependent on when you started playing

    I like the honesty. But if I’m being honest, this video has little value to the viewer and the company (from a product perspective, very entertaining video). You just threw those guys under the bus man, no shot I’m ever buying those discs, no shot they’re selling too many of those clunkers. I just think if you want to grow the sport (idk if you care about that) you should review discs that are good lol and which will create interest and will cause some viewers to make a purchase and put their hard earned cash into this market

    • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  4 дня назад +12

      @@landonwebb886 I hear that, but if a company reaches out and I agree to a review, I think it’d be bad as a reviewer to give them creative license over the review so no company ever sees my thoughts before I post. But then I’m not just going to not review it because I don’t like something. I think there’s value in not spending money as well as there is spending money because if people get into the sport but don’t like the equipment they could leave quicker. I’d rather be honest and fulfill my word to a company than not post on it, but I can hear where you’re coming from

    • @Idekbru
      @Idekbru 4 дня назад +3

      Hard disagree. Softer plastic is a relatively inexpensive option that would help the company. They also got some input for their next molds to work in the right direction. I’m not going to buy any of these for sure but I’m not writing the company off and kinda rooting for them now
