That scene in the dark forest, with Holo in all her naked beauty and glory demanding Lawrence's praise then proceeding to transform while purple lightning lights the sky was just so great.
Holo bowed to avoid fighting. She said the young wolf had pride and wanted to show he was superior to her. If she was alone and would not care about catching anyone else she would totally fought him, but she swallowed her own pride only to resolve the issue quickly and catch up with Lawrence.
That’s what I’m here for! Lawrence was now the one doing the teasing hahaha I loved that,finally it felt like he had her in the palm of his hand. Not only did he bs her with the logical explanation,but also timed the name calling with the bell just so she wouldn’t hear it. That’s mah man!
Also lots of cute tail waggings in this episode,my favorite was her caressing his back with her tail while in wolf form. That was so cute!
I always did love this episode, powerful and emotional, plus lots of funny. You gotta love when Lawrence can be cheeky and tease holo😂😂😂. Also holo’s greatest moment imo, the point when she found Lawrence, telling him how for the sake of they’re time together she swallowed her pride and bowed down to that younger/arrogant wolf but, for what those people did to Lawrence, that she could not stand for. I love that moment.
Yup was fantastic character development and flexed their relationship hard
The original Spice & Wolf was a pure gem to me, we just never got a continuation. If the production keeps this passion going and is dedicated to anime the full story, then this adaptation will be a pure masterpiece surpassing the likes of FMAB, HxH 2011, and Fruits Basket 2019 imo.

Lawrence timed that last scene too well. He knew the bell would toll at the top of the hour to say a name.
I liked how Lawrence was able to banter and tease Holo at the end, about whose name he mentioned, and how Holo swallow her pride to avoid potentially getting him further involved with the wolves. Don't worry, you're gonna eventually fall in love with her, wolf girl notwithstanding 😅
I was surprised Holo bent her knees to the Young Wolf to resolve the situation quickly. I totally thought she would fight him to show who's top, but it makes sense that getting back to Lawrence quickly is the wiser, thus more Holo, move. The animation quality is gorgeous this episode and as an anime original, I like this story for its maturity.
2:15 there are 17 LN volumes with 5-6 of them being side stories. Assuming the next 12 episode will cover volumes 3 and 4, they have room for another 2 seasons of 25 eps each.
I deserve this anime. I've been waiting for this reboot since I watched the original as a kid. I've been keeping up with the Light Novels and the Manga ever since then.
Spice and Wolf is the best series I have ever had a chance of experiencing and probably no story will ever top it in my books. I'n glad in a way that this series isn't becoming so popular to the point where it just gets shit on but I would like it to be more viewed so people could appreciate how much of a masterpiece this series is.
They could adapt the entire show in 3 double cour seasons with out rushing so I do not think there is too much source material. A lot of the books are epilogue novels after the main ending or side stories which could just be OVA's. The real continuation would be Wolf and Parchment which is the sequel/ spinoff series.
Season 1 - Books 1 2 3 4 5 seem to be confirmed
Season 2 - Books 6 8 9 10 12 (this is a lot of books but there is no clean end point since there are multi book arcs, There is potential for cutting, rushing or maybe a movie here)
Season 3 - 14 15 16 17 (The last arc in 15 and 16 is really really good and the books can fill a decent season. 17 closes the story very well)
I think its entirely possible to adapt the entire thing and it will not even be an unreasonable amount of seasons.

It seems that the elevated retro classic is coming to anime. Similar waves have happened to all sort of other subjects.
If you are lost from my statement. Look back at classic cars, motorcycles, architecture, and museum quality arts.
Really great and well produce episode. As what they did with the lighting was beautiful, especially how they did that purple lighting.
Also interesting to see how Holo actually did bent down to that other wolf. Just to make sure that she could safely come back to Lawrence. And not to him in more danger than what otherwise could have happened. Then also her reaction to how Lawrence was keeping her cloak dry and safe. Did bring her to tear was a emotional moment for her as it showed just how much he cares for something that she entrusted to him.
Also I was tricked by what Lawrence did imagined happening between Nora and Holo.
Then it was good to see how Lawrence managed to pressure the merchant to get a better deal for how they were set up. It was really clever how he made the agreement to be put in his guild/association place instead of his own. As he might not be around to collect the debt for whatever reason but his guild could.
Later on I also liked how Lawrence did tease Holo. When she asked about the question of which name he did called out. And he gave her a logical answer instead of a romantic one. Which did upset Holo in a cute way. Lawrence even trolled her by calling her name when the bells did rang loudly. Which made sure that Holo did not hear him choose her over Nora
"Sex, Shock, and Stupid" as someone puts it.
Which is funny because Spice and Wolf has a Waifu that is right between cute and hot that often gets naked, the characters go through sudden shifts in fortune with real stakes (Armor Crash and debt), and sometimes make dumb decisions.
And yet its not enough.
Plus a lot of people need things overexplained, some people were complaining they didn't clearly explain why the owner of the company was tied up in his chair why Lawrence was Strawmanning him
......
Really man? You need that explained? You can't rub some fucking braincells together?

In the LN, Holo goes with Lawrence and has Lemerio's head between her jaws.
Lawrence should not have been able to break into the company and restrain Lemerio alone.
But then, one has to wonder how she can fit inside the room, so I can't complqin about the change.
Seeing this episode treated with such care and animated so beautifully was a joy. If they keep up the quality of animation and care for the story, and we get a full adaptation, it surely will be one of the best anime of all time, again, in my humble opinion.
Warning: Got a lot to say. As a "super fan" who read through all of the source material I have to say that S&W is kind of a hard sell to the majority.
It's very, very slow. It's (sometimes too) subtle and it has a lot of (sometimes) very complex economical mechanisms at work. It is not a work for the masses and that's both its blessing and its curse. And I dont mean that in a derogator sense to the anime community. Not everyone has to like this show and it's a good thing, because it allows it to play to its strenghs without compromizing trying to reach a wider audience. On the flip side, production costs money, so it would be in need of exactly that. But I am in good faith, that the show will get another boost when we hit new, never before adapted territory.
Heck, I tried to get into this story (via manga) about 13 (!) years ago as someone who just entered his 20s. I thought Holo was cute, but never really connected with the story back then (and Lawrence). It took 10 years and being in the moment of preparing my own wedding, to stumble back to the story (via the LN) and now it hit me like a massive truck and it has quickly become one of my favorit stories of all time. I don't think a massive portion of life experiance is required to get the nuances/elements regarding what the story is trying to tell you about relationships and what both characters are going through, but after all these years I now understood - in the truest sense - what they were feeling. And now whenever I see people fawning over Holo it is surely enjoyable but I've come to realize how great of a character Lawrence is and - without going much into spoilers - how he gets even better every step along the way. He's not the sword swinging hero, he doesn't drag Holo into the bed within the span of two weeks. He is not that type of person. But with this episode I think we saw a bit of the potential that's in him, beeing very self confident, bruised and battered, riding an enormous wolf and having exactly in his mind what has to be done. Both their progress feels real and earned.
It is a joy to me to watch through all the different reactions to the new episodes. Some people drop the show because it doesn't bring in the numbers, but there are some people who genuinly I think see what I began to see after my own big brake with this story and that's more than I could ask for.
To everyone who read through all of my rambling and who's enjoying this show. Please, for the love of god, read the light novels. It's so worth it.
I wouldn't be mad if they did a Fruits Basket with this show. Full adaptation all the way. XD
I did increased the brightness for first few minutes but I don't mind i love this series. Lawrence teasing Holo was so good it made me feel now these two character are on equal footing and not just an ordinary man travelling with wolf god.
You nailed it man . Train to the End of the World , Oblivion Battery & Spice of Wolf are my sleepers for this season . ❤️
This anime is a 10 in quality, 8 in the entertainment departament. That 100% ok.
Awesome change of pace
The way Lawrence & Holo develops and the way their chemistry changes & becomes even more fun as Lawrence learns how to retort Holo's teasing is one of the most fun aspects of Spice and Wolf.
It's one of those things you dont realize until its pointed out. Later on in the story Lawrence would be coming into negotiations with so much rizz, and you take it for granted until someone points it out and you remember where he began.
Not to mention how their chemistry becomes even more fun later on, when Lawrence becomes witty enough that its a proper back and forth, rather than just being solely Holo that's doing all the teasing.
This was the best episode in the OG as well. After this point it fell off for me, still finished season 2 of the OG, may watch a few more episodes before I drop this.

I have the original anime... on blu ray. I have never watched it.
I got it. A friend borrowed it. Like a week later I moved. The friend returned it about a month later as a "house warming gift". It's been sitting on shelf ever since.
I am wainting for this season to wrap up then I will binge the original and this back to back.
I really hope that after those 2 cours are over Passione takes a break, maybe does a season of DxD in the meantime, and then a year later or so come back with the next season of Spice and Wolf, in fact I would wish that they make that a pattern and keep it up until they adapted all there is to adapt.
As someone that has watched the original anime at least 2-3 times and has read the LN series 2-3 times I really love what Passione is doing with this remake.
