  • In this video, I demonstrated how guarding works when doing low level measurements. For more explanation, please visit www.kerrywong.com

Very informative, thanks. If I may give a little feedback, it would be helpful to see the circuit diagram on paper in the beginning of the video before the experiment. It helps my simpleton mech.E brain keep track of what's going where : )

Hi, thanks for making this video. It was a very good explanation of guarding, and both easy to understand and extremely helpful. Thanks! :D

Nice one. So when a meter has a guard built in is it essentially using a buffer opamp as you illustrate? Might be nice to demonstrate the proper use of a meter with a separate guard (if you have one, e.g. Fluke 8810 or Fluke 8600A, etc.)

    Sir, Very nice video.
Please help me one thing .
I am teying to design a high impedance electrometer ( 1 T OHM ) by making a buffer configuration of a high impedance of amp ( LMC 662 ). But , I am unable to measure high impedance voltages ( upto 5 volt ) without adding a parallel capacitor of about 1 micro farad. This capacitor is obviously needs much charging and discharging time. Also , in the open circuited situation the output shows high voltage.
Can you please suggest a proper way to design a high impedance ( 100 Tera Ohm ) electrometer using ADA 4530-1 ?
I am not expert in electronics. I need to design an electeomerer for high impedance voltage measurement for parallel plate experiment for students.
    Regards

Good stuff. Why do we talk about "guard" & "4-wire" circuits? I think I am missing something.

Need to see measurement in action. Diagramming didn't make it clear for me.
