    The XY pad is fantastic for doing drum rolls, with the velocity on the vertical axis (Y) and the speed on the horizontal (X) axis. By starting with your finger in the lower/left corner, you can move in parabolic fashion up to the upper/right corner and get a very convincing snare (or whatever) roll, which is very hard to do without this pad. Seems like other controllers are more about sequencing arpeggios than programming drums. Maybe I'm just behind the times, but I still like to 'roll my own'. Thanks for making the video for all of us!

    I started out using mine as a drum pad for finger tapping beats. But I recently started using it also like a KaossPad audio effect with the XY pad tied to sliders in Gig Performer. It works great with the FL Studio plugin called Effector, but that's tied to FL. I have also used it with a plugin called Hadron by Partikkel, which is free. You can control some decent effects with this thing. This is fairly fun controller for cheap.

    Id love if they made a KP3 inspired plugin and hardware. I adore my KP3 but i wish I could change the actual effects i was using have real time control like you do with a kp3 is great but unabalanced cables etc are a pain.

    hello! could you do the same thing with the Korg Nanokey Studio? Can you play the pads via Gate Arp through the touchpad? thank you

    How do I use this with Motif XF in standalone mode without laptop? I’d like to basically program my own chord progressions with XF performances and assign drum map and switch between the two. Left 8 drum pad and right 8 chord progressions.

    Hello. Is it possible to mapping x-y pad to something in Ableton? For example filter cut off and filter resonancy?

    • @electronicdrumadvisor
      @electronicdrumadvisor  4 года назад +5

      Hi Sezer, yes it's possible... the easiest way that I found was to move the nanopad into touch scale mode and MIDI map the the Y scale of it to a filter. That's one way to do it without having to change any MIDI mappings in the korg kontrol editor.

    Can the x y pad be used for pitch bend and modulation on reaper the psr keyboard that i use doesn’t have modulation. It this product has this option i Won't have to buy a new keyboard.

    • @electronicdrumadvisor
      @electronicdrumadvisor  3 года назад +2

      The XY pad can be used for pitch bend and you can also MIDI map it to basically whatever you want. That should work in Reaper, but I haven't personally tried it out with that particular DAW.

      @@electronicdrumadvisor what about modulation too can i do it both at the same time.

    • @electronicdrumadvisor
      @electronicdrumadvisor  3 года назад

      Yeah for example, you could set Y to pitch bend and X to a CC that you could MIDI map a control to.

    does it have banks what do u mean by scences

    • @electronicdrumadvisor
      @electronicdrumadvisor  4 года назад +1

      yeah it has 4 banks (i.e. scenes). By default these just switch between different octaves that the trigger pads play. However you can change the function of them and get them to send different midi notes for example by using the korg kontrol editor software on your computer (check the korg website for it - here's the manual for it: cdn.korg.com/us/support/download/files/2a079f43dd62e84294672a8b46649db6.pdf?response-content-disposition=inline%3Bfilename%3DKONTROL_Editor_OM_E7.pdf&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf%3B)

      @@vigneshbalajimusiq4933 no worries! Yeah you have full control over the notes that you can assign, but I think you need to individually assign what each note is for each pad, one by one, for each scene, and then you would repeat the process for scene 2, and scene 3, etc...

      I think they're very decent. They're velocity-sensitive even to fairly subtle touch, but as you can see from the video, they're quite small!
