Could be true. It would be a disaster if he was traded and then the corner infield was Vientos and somebody else playing first or third because Alonso/Bregman didn’t sign and Baty was dealt.
If Brett Batty is our third basemen, we’re not a World Series contender! We can’t have a Swiss cheese bat in centerfield and a Swiss cheese bat at third base and then say oh yeah we’re contenders! We don’t need a career 222 average at third base and a career 210 average in centerfield and then say we’re contenders
....JUST SAYING BUT WHY KEEP TRYING TO FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKE IF HAVING STAYED WITH IGLESIAS, WINKER AND J.D. THE TURNING OF THE METS STRIDE THROUGH THE SEASON WOULD BE BETTER.

I agree with getting rid of McNeil. He's going to be 33 this season, and he's coming off of a subpar season. If one or more of the kids shine in spring training, I trade McNeil and eat 10 mil of his contract.
Brett Baty should be part of a midyear package to the Rangers for Kumar Rocker, to the Pirates for Ke'Bryan Hayes, to the Orioles for Cedric Mullins, or to the Yanks for Jazz Chisholm, Jr.
Hold on and see if he has an excellent spring training. If he's amazing you can use him and if he Isn't going to be in Mets plans he still becomes a better trade chip than he is right now. Can you imagine if he turned out to be another Vientos just a little bit of a late bloomer that would put the Mets in a great position on the field and financial flexibility too.
@ why doesn’t he? Because every time he got the chance to come up and be the third baseman, he was trash! But I will say if we can’t get anything good for him then keep him if nobody wants to give up anything good
@jamescurtis8584 Exactly. Everyone seems to think he's a bag of dirt. He's still a work in progress. He is the type of player that we could easily regret trading in a year.
@@Joe-j1fHe only had 50 games at the big league level last season. The only reason why his numbers were bad, was because he hit 184 at home. On the road, he hit 276. One thing I will admit, is that he doesn't seem to be able to hit lefties well.
I think u used to speak of Vientos in thw same vein. Some take time to figure it out. He has made nice strides and endured adversity. You don't find 1st round draft picks.on trees to be dangled. We often sell low and buy high. Unless it is an offer that csnt be refused like Dylan Cease or Luis Castillo straight up 1 for 1, I'd say no. You have him, Acuna and Mauricio. Only 1 to play the maybe two positions open.
You cant trade batty, the kid has tons of potential and he can really turn out to be a beast! They should play him everyday no matter what. I rather have his bat rather than mcneil. Trade mcneil for a solid reliever and solidify that bullpen.
I agree. He reminds me of George Brett on steroids. A big Brett. He just has to attack the ball more instead of being happy to make contact. Baty has all the tools just need to put em together.
Thanks for the breakdown! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
If they really want another contributor, they'll have to do better than Baty. Right now, he's just a development prospect. They must sign Alonso. They've got their big bat in the OF with Soto. I would move Acuna to 2B permanently, and look for another bat for DH instead of relying on an aging Starling Marte, whose time with the team is probably limited. They could package him in a deal for another L handed starter or a solid bat for DH.
Brett Baty is better than he has shown so far. You got a hold on to him and hope he gets hot at the right time. What's the point of trading him now, you're not going to get anything for him. Better to wait and see what happens.
He has no value in a trade so just keep him as a depth piece. If we don't land Bregman or Alonso then MAYBE he gets a chance to earn some at bats in a platoon at 3rd if Vientos gets moved. I guess the hope is that he rakes in Syracuse to spark trade interest by the deadline.
Are you serious. Hey rid of him. He is not good enough. This team is not going anywhere as put together so far. They are still way behind the Braves and Phillies. What are they waiting for to improve this team. Lineup still has holes and pitching and relievers are not good enough either.
This team overperformed last season. They have too many holes to fill in one off-season. Bring in two solid bats. Sign Bregman, trade for Cedric Mullins and move gimpy Nimmo to dh.
I've proposed what I think is a fair trade involving Baty. Baty goes to the Cardinals for Nolan Arenado, with the Cardinals paying half of Arenado's remaining contract.
Baty is still young and controllable. He's a former top 30 MLB prospect with less than two years of experience. While I'm not against trading for Arenado, his age and contract do not require relinquishing Baty.
@@fr2ncm9 Whereas I happen to agree with everything you said about Baty, I think the question marks surrounding him are worth giving him up for 3 years of a wizard at 3b like Arenado, but only if we can get StL to eat half the salary.
@@ArtofFreeSpeech We can get Arenado without giving up Baty. Arenado's AAV drops to 16 million next year. That's only slightly more than McNeil. I think Jose Buto and a mid to low tier prospect will be enough to move the needle.
Baty is a shame , Sweet Lefty swing, but hes missing the confidence or something to play in NY. you see Mauricio and Acuña and these kids come up looking ready for NY. Trade Brett to a small market team hopefully in a package for something useful
Happy new year Ryan! You know I really do like your writing like your platform in your RUclips channel. But please enough to click bait just to pass the time to talk about something before March. Of course Baty should be given a shot. The guy is talented and he’s still too young to give up on. Give him the same opportunity that Vito took advantage of last year. Can you imagine an infield with two young studs and production instead of going after 30 something year old free agents? I really hate how everyone is just throwing baby under the bus suddenly.
Trade. Even if we make a big move they will not want him. Too much talent in are minor league’s. Getting something for him try to put him ins package with one of the players we are trying to move.
Baty has too much value to trade right now. Even if all he becomes is a utility player. Do you have any idea how much veteran utility players make? Good ones are making 4 to 6 million a year. That's money we can spend on a starting player or a relief pitcher.
Ryan let it go with this Bret Baty. He stanks, and why the Mets haven't sign Tanner Scott yet and the Mets need to bring in more bats. I'm tired of this waiting around. Come on Cohen step in and just sign somebody. I don't trust Stearns.
50 at bats is not much of an opportunity. He did hit this past season, just not at home. That doesn't mean he can't hit. Would you rather keep Mauricio? All he hit was 248 and he missed all of last year with a torn acl.
I'm just wondering. You talking heads DO realize that Manfred hasn't gone full-idiot and changed the rules of the game so that it's just home run derby, don't you? You realize that even with this moronic hyper focus on home runs, major league hitters still amass far more singles that every other manner of hit combined ... don't you? You all seem to love OPS. Do you realize OPS is just two other stats added together? What? Is a little addition too much work for you? My daughter was able to add On Base % and Slugging % in her head when she was seven. Let me pose this incredibly taxing question to you. Runner on second, two outs. Your team is batting in the bottom of the ninth in a tie game. Who's more likely to win the game for you ... Tony Gwynn or Dave Kingman? Scoring mor runs than the other team is still how you win a baseball game and a line drive single still scores most baserunners from second base. Yet you all have bought in to the theory that batting average is meaningless. I recognize that a home run has value, but tell me this. Your third place hitter hits a home run in the first ... would you prefer a three run homer, or a solo shot? Now how many ways are there for your first two hitters to be on base when that happens? Out of those ten ways (ten if you count each type of hit individually and omit home runs as that batter would not still be on base when number three homers) ... but anyway, out of those ten ways to reach base, which way is most common? Singles! (I shouted that at you.) By emphasizing home runs, you encourage hitter to take upper cut swings this GREATLY reduces the area of possible intersection between the path of the pitched ball and the swing path of the bat, thus increasing strikeouts. You guys are helping to bring the game down from a thinking man's game to a caveman contest with zero cerebral requirements. The reason Brett Baty is struggling is that the entire baseball world is telling him he needs to be a home run hitter to have value. I shudder to think of what would have become of Keith Hernandez had he come up in today's game.
Why can’t he struggle because he doesn’t have it? Why is everyone stupid but you? Get a life and watch Bret baty. He stinks at the plate. Stinks. No one ever would tell a player “alright in this at bat you HAVE to hit a Homer” my kid could add percentages at 5. I don’t know maybe your Bret’s uncle or dad or something but why would you keep believing after 3 years that this year could be the one he breaks out in? What other career would you get this many chances? Can’t just trade to trade it’s not like he’s making any money. Keep him for now and let him build some value back. Also 29 teams none of them have scouts? None of them have seen or heard of Baty? Everyone knows who and what he is. No one will take him on for anything of value in return at this moment.
Unfortunately Baty probably would just be a throw in for a potential trade of Vlad Jr. The Jays would command several other top prospects as well. His trade value definitely isn’t what it used to be when he himself was considered a top prospect.
We keep hearing about all these great young players in the minors. Then I guess we don't need Baty. We've seen enough. Maybe he'll do great in a smaller market without the pressure.
