Plot armor,DLC was released after the main game but in universe before,so Sam couldnt win no matter what,its on platinum for being lazy and not adding an alternative ending where Sam wins for real,i mean it couldnt even be hard to implement or believe at all,just make it so Sam doesnt cut at an angle and done,among other things.
As a fellow glasses wearer I can say with 100% certainty that armstrong would have won without breaking a sweat if he didn't have to worry about his glasses falling off
@@Umayyadazi Both are pretty strong mercenaries who act like they have no care in the world, and the fact both peeps could read someone of what type of individual they are, Dante could easily read a demons motives(for example he knew both twin demons wanted to take his power in the anime) when he clashes with one and by interacting with peeps, while Sam easily read what type of warrior Raiden was when they were clashing blades. I would say Raiden is a bit more like a heroic Vergil, if he wasn't a deadbeat dad and provided for his family instead of leaving them behind to fend for themselves.

Sam made an error in judgement and was so focused in disarming (literally) Armstrong that he did not consider the source of hardening was Armstrong's Heart. What Raiden did was stab him in the gut hit him in the arms a few times then when he was disoriented but already hardened at the arms and head/stomach he stabbed his heart. Sam's style was focused on single strike finishing moves based on Iaido so he inheritly had a disadvantage because Raiden pummeled/stabbed while Sam slashed. Raiden represents lightning bolts while Sam represents wind.
The first time I fought him on revenge, I died 38 times and had a lot of trouble dodging. I always advise not to underestimate this boss fight, especially for those who play recently as Sam.
