Was the home next door torn down? Sad to hear that. It's a shame. Beautiful place located in a beautiful area. Looks like the structures around the home should be preserved & protected.
+Bonnie Belle I really hope that they do not destroy the old Hardy house next door. It has a lot of history for Chattanooga even if it doesn't have history in the Civil War.
Me too! Those old homes are really cool. Looking at all the details, it looks like an incredible amount of work went into building them, esp the Craven's house. Too bad they're going to tear them down. Thank, Andy.
+hannawaldify the Cravens house will be kept. It is the Hardy house that will be torn down whenever they get enough funding up. The problem that I have with that is that the Hardy house is also part of Chattanooga history but since it does not fit in with the Civil War Park the Park Service wants to remove it
When did you take this video? I use to live in the Coleman's house below the Hardy's (Williams) House. What can we do to save all this history??? When I lived there in my youth, all of this was my backyard playground. Also, when did the Craven's House stop doing tours? Do you by chance know? There was an extremely, nice gentleman that gave tours back in the day and he use to be the little organ player on the Southern Belle.
They still do tours on occasion. The problem is that they don't have enough staff to do it all the time. There is a great Facebook page being run by the great folks at Picnooga (facebook.com/picnooga/) They have created a page dedicated to trying to save the Hardy/Williams house (facebook.com/savinglittleholme/?hc_ref=ARTtEogBr74ZFlOVkYMacAbVIDORRcofJf84BzHUnGnQR1Y43zIJoteeiXxrf8F-wl0) you ought to like and follow the page, they are trying to save this beautiful old house from the Wrecking ball.
I went and saw this yesterday and got very excited until my phone died and I couldn't take any pictures. Finding this just made my entire day. Can you tell me anything about this house? Why is she vacant?
It's a long story, but I'm part of a group trying to save this beautiful place. If you are on Facebook we have a page that tells the whole story. facebook.com/savinglittleholme/
6:35ish and 6:42ish what is that big stone enclosure there?! That looks an awful lot like a dolmen someone repurposed....also looks like it goes further back in....any clue?!
So the home owner bricked up around that rock. It does go in but not a lot. I guess it was more of a root cellar. The structure to the left looks like it was a smoking room as there are hooks and a small chimney. I do have a few more videos of this house and video of inside it if you go through my other videos
The stonework - just amazing. And that fireplace!
I hope that it can be saved

Same memories from childhood. ❤️
A couple of years ago I think. When I get to a computer I will check
Honestly hope they do not tear any of this down as the cravens house Nd surrounding property is a part of my family history 😔
I agree. This house next to the Craven's house needs to be saved. It may not be Civil War history but it is history
Agreed Kim. I’m a Fryar and my people lived around here back in the day too. We won’t let it happen! 👍🏻
