@@SaltyToad00 What's wrong with advertising if the game is good? Treasure made a darn good McDonald's game on Sega Genesis. Ronald McDonald's Treasureland Adventure is a really solid platformer. Then there's MC Kids on NES that is actually a decent Mario clone with it's own wacky mechanics and a solid OST. Global Gladiators is a little funky though. There is a McDonalds sim game that only came out in Japan for Game Boy Color that's pretty good. It plays sort of like an RPG. The DS game is just a training program, pretty generic, really. Don't be a hater.
@macuser7048 To me, at least, when a game has some sort of forced product placement, it brings down the quality. The only good advertisement in a game that I can think of (this isn't one of the games you listed) is Sonic Adventure 2 with the SOAP shoes.
This is such an inreresting concept. Taking what we as a species overall have learned about what makes a great video game and trying to translate that back into 25 year old hardware. More devs should try this challenge. Itd be so interesting to see how they overcome the limitations.
If you haven't already heard of it, there's an incredible indie game called Micro Mages that's designed to get every last bit of mileage out of stock NES hardware (i.e. no enhancement chips, game fits in just 40 KB). It even has simultaneous four player co-op!
there's plenty of modern games inspired by the limitations of old systems, like shovel knight. the problem is that they're only "inspired" and do things that can't actually be done on old hardware. pretty sure Shovel Knight for example could only possibly run on the Dreamcast, and thats with cuts. The resolution alone is well above what the NES or even the SNES could ever dream to do.

You know it doesn't help that McDonald's has a bunch of weird history involving video games so this is just another chapter into it. Also, I really hope Nintendo works with McDonald's and brings a port of this to the Game boy Nintendo switch online. That would be amazing.

This is really amazing, honestly props to the marketing team that thought this was worth doing. By the way I got one of those shakes and it tasted like Fruit Loops, which is not a bad thing.
It's on the website. The site has it running on an emulator already and you play with either a smartphone or a keyboard. The options menu asks which layout you are using. So it's premapped controls.
