That's a lot of air time compared to what I'm used to. Former F Co 52nd Infantry (Airborne) LRS, 2nd Brigade 82nd Airborne, 1st SFG (ABN) guy here. This is a training jump. We can jump with just the main and reserve chute is called Hollywood jump for fun. Or can be a heavy combat jump with gear, the chain of command decided if we gonna jump with weapons or not. There is plenty videos showing heavy combat jump's with the weapons case to the side of the jumper.
wow so what you are saying is that paratroopers don't have to jump with their weapons in training? I guessed I missed that in my 22 years as a paratrooper. ever hear the adage of train as I fight, fight as I train? you now big boy rules. maybe you could pull your head out of your 4th point of contact to remember that this jump was into Latvia. thus it was a show of force against the Russians. now what good is a show of force if your force is unarmed? yea that dam common sense big boy rules thing really sucks doesn't it. fucking cherry.
I jumped twice on Germany with the 82nd couple years ago on military exercise with other countries and only junior enlisted jumped with the weapons, senior enlisted and officers just with the rack sacks. Max Colley I graduated airborne school last Friday and there’s marines there too all branches can do it I’m not sure what qualifies you to be able to go as a different branch member but in my platoon we had two staff sergeants and two corporals who were marines
Max Colley it’s honestly one of the greatest feelings in the world jumping out getting an airborne contract with the army is the easiest way to do it though
Yeah I have decided that I will most likely try for the army, it seems more my type, I’m still just in high school though so I’m trying my best to make an educated decision.
Max Colley it’s not a bad career I’m still in my first year because I just graduated in May but I enjoy it there’s a lot of benefits to it the pay isn’t bad I make a base pay of $850 every two weeks you just have to deal with a lot of bs that’s all branches though good luck with whatever you decide to do go talk to a recruiter and get educated but don’t just take his word for it because it’s his job to recruit new soldiers talk to people who are in/ have been in
Eternal respect to all of you. Earned my wings in 2008, gold in 2009. Scared every single jump, but did it.

When you jump do you put your feet out or?
What happens if the airman (without a parachute) falls out? Does he just dangle there and have to be dragged back into the plane?

He bounces off the ground and goes back into the air, falling back down and bouncing again and again until he eventually stops landing.

What altitude do they jump? Does it ever vary?
I have a question, how do they have vests and flicks and other gear when they hit the ground? I see them wear the parachute and jump gear but no vests?
that's called a Hollywood jump m8 its just so they can get a feel for shit.next they go with their equipment Its like 150 pounds.
That's not how I remember the Assault pack being rigged.
how high is that?
1250ft most likely
It looked pretty high - definitely not an 800'. Too much time in the air unless there were weird updrafts.
does anyone even count when they jump? I don't I just know if it doesn't open soon pull reserve.
Good Landing.
I can’t decide whether to try and do this or the Marines.
Max Colley I graduated airborne school last Friday and there’s marines there too all branches can do it I’m not sure what qualifies you to be able to go as a different branch member but in my platoon we had two staff sergeants and two corporals who were marines
Thanks, that helps!
Max Colley it’s not a bad career I’m still in my first year because I just graduated in May but I enjoy it there’s a lot of benefits to it the pay isn’t bad I make a base pay of $850 every two weeks you just have to deal with a lot of bs that’s all branches though good luck with whatever you decide to do go talk to a recruiter and get educated but don’t just take his word for it because it’s his job to recruit new soldiers talk to people who are in/ have been in
I got nervous just by looking at this 😂
One of the Most elite fighting units in the world!
+ToonandBBfan Cavalry is not elite
west pool ???? - These guys will get the job done
+ToonandBBfan yes but that doesn't make them elite. not Rangers or SF or DF.
west pool Oh, I'd say they are up there with the best of them.
+ToonandBBfan It's just jump school.
Hell, many, many MOS's have elements that require jump certification.
