Thank you :) While this video was specific to BMW, this tutorial can be applied to other four wire systems too.

Very good tutorial on the operation and test of the MAF sensor. When I disconnect the MAF from my 1998 740IL, car runs fine but when I connect the plug I have the issue, my obdII says “
P0100: Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor “A” Circuit”. I did do this test per your interactions. The first part was ok but when I did the second part with the needle test, I get around 10 volt dc. So I decided to do a continuity test and disconnected the plug I got continuity between wires brown and gray/blue do you know if this is normal?? Could not find any shorts. Thanks.

hello maigo I'm from Brazil and I'm with a bmw x5 4.4i year 2001 with the following problem: it does not turn on. the engine is locked if I remove the candles, throw some oil, or WD into the candle hole and move the pulley to one side. to the other .. ends up loosing and so I can and I can call .. more the other day she hangs up again. Do you have any idea what that might be? or where do I start ??? I really do. hug. Flavio.

My advice would be doing a compression and cylinder leak down test. You may have an issue with the valve train.
