My experience installing the AXIS cover system by Master Spas

  • We purchased our Michael Phelps "Momentum D" swim spa from Master Spas about 4 years ago and love it. When the top covers needed to be replaced, I noticed online they were offering a new cover system and decided to try it.
Since, before making my own purchases, I love watching videos of real people and their experience with those products, I thought I would video tape my experience with this one. As I say in the video, it was much easier than I thought.
By the way, if you don't own a swim spa, I can tell you, ours has been amazing and we use it year round, often several times per week. I am not a swimmer, but I get a great workout...and for someone in my late 50's who sits at a desk all day, I need a variety of options to get me moving. Socially, it's a blast to have a group of friends over to lounge in it.
Additionally, on a personal note, we had no idea how important it would become in our life story as our 24 year old son was hit by a distracted driver who ran a red light. He was on a bicycle and was instantly paralyzed from the waist down. I will never forget how, almost 2 months into his rehab, he came home to visit, and "stood" in the Swim Spa. It was the first time we had seen him standing since the accident and he spent hours every day in it. The hot water and gentle motion gave him opportunity to work whatever muscles he had coming back...and it set him on a path to recover much more than any doctor gave him hope for.
You can watch the video of his first time home and in the swim spa here: • Back in Knox for... Th...
Almost 2 years since the accident, check out what he is attempting to do: www.dfrideforh...
He is a musician and producer. I am his #1 fan...and you should become one too: www.DavidFranci... :-)

I am wondering the same. Also, how was it for getting heavy snow off?

Not well being outside. Since we are under a big tree, the top would have leaves, and when I roll the cover back on, the leaves and debris got in the swimspa...so the only solution was to sweep off the cover before opening...which was a big hassle. So I don't use the cover anymore.
I would only recommend it for indoor use, or, outdoor where there weren't any trees over it.

John. Thanks for the update. Seems you stopped because of leaves?? What about heat retention (you live in cold weather) what about durability? How was it with rain and snow? What did it cost you when ypu bought it? And lastly what did you replace it with? Thanks. Hoping you'll get back to me.

Hello thank you so much for this video. I have ordered the h2x 15 D trainer and it should be here in a month . They included the axis cover with mine but I sent a email to make sure it came with the poles as others talked about . I made it a pointe to ask about the cover so I better be getting the poles ! Lol . Oh mine is going inside 3 car garage. Crazy I know, moisture, humidity , got it all covered . Candy believe it or not , there’s a pool table, poker table and bar in there as well ! It was a lot of work but I did it lol thank you agsin

That’s smart to include the Axis cover right away
      I wished I knew!
My current cover is 6 mos old & I am selling for $350 on FB, it’s lot of work to open & close
Not sure how many people will be looking 😕
I am waiting for my sport end2end roll up cover
It takes 32-42 days for them to make & ship
Hopefully by thanksgiving it would be here!
      The swim spa is great!
Mine is on a slab surrounded with trex wood in our backyard with tons of privacy, & it’s the best thing that happened to us despite the pandemic!
You & your love ones would love it!!!

I certainly wish I would have thought about the whole "cover issue" when the Sales person was showing and selling the swim spa there was no covers around to even consider~ I bought the Trainer 19 D and finally was able to start using it~ the cover is so awkward & heavy to use that I am very frustrated. Since my swim spa is installed flush with the deck I don't have the option to add the bar system to assist in the lifting~ You would think that a purchase of more than $31,000 .00 would have included a discussion on the cover and how challenging it could be for a single person to handle! My only option now is to spend more money and purchase the roll up one which seems to also have issues after seeing these reviews~

Hey JOHN I have a trainer 15 deep and I also purchased the access cover first of all mine didn’t come with polls on the end of the swim spa to support the cover beyond the end of the swim spa you think paying $2500-$3000 you think they could kick down two polls secondly it’s one of those things you don’t realize until you purchase my swim spa is also outside so of course it’s in the elements so are going to have dust debris leaves and so forth planned on it the problem is when you unroll it and of course it’s going to be damp inside when you unroll it you’re going to have that debris stick to the inside of the lid so when you roll it closed that Debris can fall in to the swim spa which is a pain because now I have to clean the cover before you unroll it. It does keep a good temp on the swim spa that I can say and it is quite heavy I would say also master spas video makes it look so easy also if you ever have a problem with it which I did actually have a pump start making a crazy noise so I called them up of course they have a third-party company that you call because it was under warranty but then the third-party company charged $150 For the service call he said it was for traveling time he had to travel maybe 25 minutes away to come out so be prepared to drop at least 100 to 150 bucks at least that’s what they charge in Southern California so if you didn’t have to do that then you’re lucky. Great video man good luck One other thing The customer support I would say sucks all they do is email you can’t call and actually talk to them it is actually pretty difficult to get a hold of someone that’s the way it was in our case. Just wanted to give you heads up!

If outside, I would NOT get this one because it gets the water so dirty when rolling it from open to closed. I have the traditional square sit-on-top covers and they hold up for 4-6 years.
I LOVE the swim spa itself!! Have had it now going on 6 years!

I love mine... It is the momentum deep. We use it year round, HOWEVER, I am not a good swimmer. I do tons of exercise in it, like paddling against the current on my back while holding a noodle, but you should NOT buy one without trying it out. I have had mixed reviews from "real swimmers". The company is great and the product is great.

Mine is just okay, not fantastic and it's got issues after 5 years. Customer service is difficult though. Although in fairness, I had a pump issue and they did get someone out to replace.
