As a Social Media Manager, I have a lot of the same views as Grace. I was let go from a previous job for not wanting to have product photos make up 90% of our Instagram strategy. It's so infuriating how many companies have higher ups who not only completely misunderstand the benefits of social media marketing for business but also refuse to adapt and learn from the younger people in the company who have an expertise in this field...

Question: How could a small business owner who doesn't have the funds to employ someone full time benefit from a social media marketer? Are there SMM willing to grow with a business if they see the potential, or is this unrealistic?

She is spot-on but I would add my own take, DM goes above and beyond traditional marketing as you can see, what she is describing here it's a complete AGILE approach as you are not only dealing with record high volatile targats, but you need to align with the tech companies offering those platforms. I find DM being quite excruciating in that regards. Additionally, it would be great to see similar level of insights being narrated by people who work with no high tickets clients. If you enrol in a decent DM course you would be familiar with the concepts examplained here, however most clients are not willing to invest, or have the financial capacity, in a large team and you end up proposing strategies that cannot be actualised because of a lack of manpower and financial backing.

As a B2B marketing manager I found this really interesting on the whole, however I do have some questions which I’m not sure were answered. Grace comes across really well and also having no marketing degree I think it’s great to see her succeed.
    1) DOAC is mainly a podcast, if you have unlimited resources and a big name presenter then you are already some way to success - it is not really a rags to riches story. Why is Steven so intent on it succeeding?
    2) are you attracting talent based upon Steven and the “brand” because people want this on their CVs as opposed to a genuine Marketing career move. Not asking about people’s pay but I’m intrigued into why someone would see this as a good career move? The recruitment advise in the first 5 minutes is also a bit misguided, this might work in small companies and startups but not in the private world.
