You forgot to point out that its 2 months rent for deposit and that when you go through a agent you and the landlord pay and split 1 months additional rent of the apartment as fee. Tax Stamping Fees are paid extra. As a Expat you should also ask to get monthly payment receipts for your paid rent.. which can be used for further tax reductions.
I've always been fascinated with China since childhood. But I've heard some worrying things about how People of Color are received there by some especially in more rural places.
Thank you so much for sharing the tips! I am preparing to move to Hong Kong from the US this summer. I would very appreciate it if you could upload other tips for living in Hong Kong.
I couldn't imagine finding an apt in HK from the U.S. It will be small and expensive. How could you expect a large kitchen and frig? Most people don;t cook or eat at home so no need for kitchen. I lived in Hk in 1960. Our family lived in one room and there were 4 other families lived in same 4 bedroom apt. Each family had space for a kerosene stove on a slab in the kitchen
granted I'm from NYC so used to small apartments! I ended up finding something with a full size fridge - not USA style which is huge anyway, but perfect for a couple!
Nice and very informative. I am very interested in moving to HK. What is a good salary for an upper middle class lifestyle for a family of 3? Is $250k USD good?

I have heard the same, but that's not an issue in Hong Kong!
The Beirut artwork is super cool. You should link to the shop, if available online
Three of them are from Why Natt, I think she has an Etsy store but I bought in person!
