Hi! Thank you so much! -- I don't remember if I used any effects on this particular song, it's been a few years. I don't think so, though, other than a compressor built into Garageband. I do memorize the songs I play. I really have no method other than play them over and over. On those that are trickier, I divide them into chunks and learn those individually, then put them together. Wish I was more helpful!

It's there to tell you that nothing is played there for an 8th of a note, which, in this case, it means you stop your string from ringing. As a suggestion: the parts you find difficult, it's always better to stop the song and practice that single part over and over again, veeeeerrryy sloooooooowwwlly at first, until it sounds good, and then just gradually speed it up until you have it down. I promise you, that always happens sooner than you think.
Really, it depends on how much time you can dedicate to it and your patience. This song, however, is not that difficult. I'd say a couple of months to learn it, if you're starting learning bass from scratch? Thank you for your kind comment!

¡Hola! Lo deduces bien: nada mejor para empezar que un bajo y un amp, si los puedes costear (muchos empezamos solo con el bajo). Si apenas vas a empezar tu aventura, te recomiendo conseguir un bajo bueno y barato - Ibanez tiene bajos de muy buena calidad y costeables; también puedes encontrar muy buenas cosas en segunda mano, como en Mercado Libre. En cuanto al amp, te recomiendo comprar una "lonchera", como le decimos en el centro de méxico: un amplificador pequeño que puedas cargar aquí y allá. ¿Por qué? Porque, si en un tiempo sigues tocando y quieres algo más serio, te compras un amp más grande, pero el pequeño te sigue sirviendo para llevarlo a prácticas - son muy útiles. NO compres un amp de guitarra: los guitarristas pueden usar nuestros amplificadores, pero nosotros no los de ellos: los volamos en mil pedazos XD. Espero que todo este rollo te sirva.
