I got to see Penn station NYC when I was a kid; I didn't realize what a travesty it was, when they tore it down, I was only 7, but I can remember it's grandeur well, having passed through it with my mom so many times, it's etched into my memories. I've been to Grand Central Station in NYC many times, and marvel at it's beauty. Same with Chicago's Union station, and the one in Washington, DC. 30th st station has eluded me so far; I plan on taking Amtrak there next summer in 2023. I hope I live long enough to see it. If anyone knows of other great, old stations in America, let me know. I'm retired, and would like to see them.
I work at the Amtrak 30th Street Station, and as of April 2018 the board is still there. They may finally be working toward removing it--they recently covered over the long-inactive satellite boards near each of the 10 track entrances. The bottom two rows, which used to display general notifications ("UNATTENDED BAGS SUBJECT TO REMOVAL BY AMTRAK POLICE", for instance) have been inactive for the past few weeks; they may have been impacted by a power failure back in January.
Hi Max, incredible video! i'm currently working on a motion graphic project of a departure board so I wanted to ask you a question. Did you record the sfx yourself on location or were they added in later?

Nice that the Solari board has a yellow vane display clock too. Suits well.
AWESOME video! Well, it lasted until 2019...sucks that it's now gone though.
Nice video!
It survives at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. Unfortunately, it's not hooked up to anything.

ThreePointOneFou is this board still in operation? I may have to make the trip to film it myself if so.
I'm not sure it's leaving. Here we are in 2017 and I was there in march and the solari board is still there. Trenton NJ has a smaller one too.
Wow this is really cool! Nice video
I don't know what was more shocking to the system:
-The beauty of this video
-The realization that I was listening to a Justin Bieber song
It finally came down on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
I was there! Look out for the sequel. (Subscribe!!!)
Still there in January 2019.
30th street station still has that solari board in 2018
TheLegoBrickery is it still in operation?

TheLegoBrickery thank you for the heads up and quick reply. I may go down on Sunday. Thank you again 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
THE 30TH ST STATION IS STUNNING. EVERY TIME I'M THERE AND LOOK OVER AT THE UGLY BLACK FLIP BOARD I THINK "WHAT AN EYE SORE".
