- Sacla' the Pesto Pioneers and Italian foodies favourite brand, served up a great surprise at John Lewis Foodhall from Waitrose and staged an impromptu Opera in the food aisles.
They planted five secret opera singers who were disguised as casual shoppers and store staff amongst the groceries who broke into song bringing the foodhall to a standstill with a rousing rendition of the Italian classic Funiculì, Funiculà.

I'm reading all the negative comments and think they need to get a life and enjoy whats going on around them. Its videos like this that make you realise that no matter what is going on in the world, we can all come together and enjoy what is happening at that moment, its as if the world has come together, if only for a moment
It's hard to believe some people can not appreciate this kind of art
Especially with what is happening Stateside with Trump and the Republicans. Nice to forget all that for a moment. BTW: Although I was smiling from the first note, the woman singer carrying the fish around as she sang had me grinning from ear to ear. Thanks To You All! 💐💐💐💐💐💐
Omg I was there! I remember this and it was stunningly good. Even funnier was how they all went back to the shelf stacking and shopping afterwards and just melted away. So clever. The world needs more of this.

Supposedly it's illegal in Britain to suspiciously carry a salmon, which adds some more humour to the situation.

it doesnt even matter if you do not know or understand the words... this is food for the soul and if this doesnt give you chills you are not alive imo... can you imagine, shopping, busy frustrated with too much to do, and too little time, and this happens... wonderful, bravo!!

OMG I would die happy if that happened in my market. Hey for all you musicians, there is a real appetite for classical music and opera that isn't being met by modern offerings. Keep that in mind.

It struck me while watching this..... while the singing is brilliant, what I enjoy the most is the reaction of the people. And it's why I'll continue my searches of this genre.

I grew up with Opera from learning from my grandparents at about age 12 or 13 and a little while ago my Dutch Oma sent me this link to this video and truly is just a heart warmer and just makes you want to play it over and over! (: I still am into opera till this day! Renne Flemming, diongiovanni, and so many more!

we held a fundraising dinner a couple of years ago and just after the main course three of the waiters suddenly burst into song in just the same way and it brought the house down. Everyone absolutely loved it.

Those customers in the market, must have been pleasantly surprised by this song, so well sung by several singers. who sang it spontaneously. What a wonderful way to break routine on any day! What's more the singers have excellent voices, and sing very well together. Not bad for people who are not professional singers. Indeed they sing with the best.

I love the Italians ----- they have opera and music in their blood. When I was in Florence, I walked into a produce market and they were singing the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Verdi's opera "Nabucco". It was beautifully sung, superbly executed, and actually made a lot of the onlookers cry out of their love for Giuseppe Verdi, the composer. In America, all we hear is rap, crap, and filth. Culturally, we are the dunces of the Western World, sorry to say.
Fantastic, with 'Va, pensiero' often sung as though it's the Italian national anthem and amazing to be part of a choir or group singing it.

To those that are criticising the down voting of this, you must realise there are those of us who are devastated by the ongoing denigration of British culture. Don't get me wrong, I love Italian opera, but we have our own home grown brands of culture that I would prefer to be promoted over foreign versions. We have MUCH to be proud of.
