Dean Forest Railway - Tanker train day - 30/03/2024

Saturday the 30th of March saw the Dean Forest Railway, in association with the National Wagon Preservation Group, ran several demonstration freight trains with a handful of the groups TTA tanker wagons which were acquired by the group back in 2022. The tankers were hauled by the railways class 08 D3937 while the regular passenger service was being operated by the GWR 4575 small prairie 5541, on a 5 coach train which included the Great Western saloon coach for first class ticket holders.

How do these tanks fit in with the heritage theme? Just asking, as they say

Essentially these types of tankers have recently been withdrawn from service in the last couple years. I think they’ll be fitting for diesel heritage from the 80s period I suppose.
