    Good balance and footwork. Nice, simple, classic strokes, that should hold up under pressure. Backhand looks to be the stronger of the two wings.

    Really great play, and your backhand is strong! Your forehand is compact, and perhaps seems artificially shortened on the backswing. This also seems to impact the follow through.
    Overall great playing.

    • @alligatorsarefire
      @alligatorsarefire Год назад +3

      i agree her backhand seems much more natural while her forehand seems more forced to have a shortened backswing. That will be harder when she plays harder hitting and better opponents.

    I like your footwork and balance, especially when your pulled wide on your backhand and do an open stanced backhand.
    Your forehand is powerful, although it is a typical WTA forehand, with the long "break the plane" backswing. In that sense I disagree with other comments in that it's totally OK, if your confortable with it. Serena used it with great success, and Fernando González used a long backswing and it was one of the most feared forehands on the tour.
    One little detail. I notice that you depend a lot on imposing the rhythm of play through your power game. But I notice that you lack a little explosiveness in your footwork when your pulled wide on the defensive. Against top college players that could be an exploitable weekness. Players that lack power tend to develope tremendous foot speed (example: David Ferrer). Those that have power in their game tend not to develope that speed (Boris Becker or the same Fernando González). I'd work on that foot speed and explosiveness to be more well rounded.
    Really good potential and I hope you get the scholarship you justly deserve. Good luck and greetings from Chile.

    • @Dew0ne
      @Dew0ne Год назад +1

      I had to search for "breaking the plane". I find it a weird concept, I don't think that that's the problem with most backswing techniques, more like the length and amplitude of the backswing "loop" if you can call it that. Aren't you necessarily breaking the plane to create wrist lag on the forehand side? The buttcap points outwards away from the ball, likewise with the onehanded backhand... I'd like to know your thoughts.

    • @ericfreeman5795
      @ericfreeman5795 Год назад +3

      @@Dew0ne "Breaking the plane" is a concept frecuently related to the WTA forehand where the lady players make a very long backswing, taking the racquet arm to the left of the anterior posterior plane of their bodies, while the majority of the ATP players maintain their racquet and racquet arm to the right of their bodies (for righties) during their backswing.
      Although many coaches try to teach that the ATP technique is the correct way to do it, many consider that there is no harm to do the longer backswing if the player is confortable with it and it doesn't hamper there performance. I agree with this, although full disclosure, I'm not a coach, but just an amateur player.

      @@ericfreeman5795 thanks for your explanation - I think the name and the concept don't work that well. I've seen a coach here in a RUclips short using a lantern as a hindrance but it didn't seem like a good idea... Full disclosure, I'm teaching... ;)

  • @spammich1120
    @spammich1120 Год назад +14

    Backhand is great. Great footwork already and good rhythm!
    Forehand needs a bit of work. You are breaking the plane quite often. You might wanna spread out your fingers more on your grip (particularly your pointing finger) because it appears like you have your hand in a cocked position (90° angle between wrist and racket) when you swing (i.e. after the takeback). Should help you to maintain lose-ness in your wrist throughout the entire stroke. Additionally, it could help you with hitting the ball earlier because it appears you are sometimes late as a consequence of your swing being rather long (not short btw like others suggested here). My assumption is that you would otherwise struggle with timing on the forehand when playing against faster balls.

    • @bmpjjaa
      @bmpjjaa Год назад +1

      Breaking the plane is fine for a WTA forehand.

    • @spammich1120
      @spammich1120 Год назад +1

      @@bmpjjaa Sure, everything is fine but it depends on what you wanna achieve. If you have no problem with racket head acceleration, shortening the backswing and keeping your racket on the hitting side throughout your stroke is generally advantageous for reasons I explained. You might get away with that on Clay but on other surfaces you're in trouble against hard hitters. Doesn't matter what's played most commonly in WTA. Besides, arguably most of the greatest female forehands, both in terms of pace and consistency, are not forehands that break the plane on a regular basis.

    • @bmpjjaa
      @bmpjjaa Год назад +1

      @@spammich1120 I'm on the ATP forehand bandwagon too.
      But that's quite a large change to her forehand. Not sure if she can really play for her Uni after making such a large technical change.
      You have a good sum up of her issues though. I would def change her forehand like you said, if she was younger

    • @TheWakeupsheeple
      @TheWakeupsheeple Год назад +1

      Yessir, I'd like to see her elbow a little more extended at contact as well. I feel if she did that she would hit the ball a little more out front....if she starts her stroke, with anticipation, a little sooner. That way she would get it out front better and time it much better. Don't think I would compact her swing in more than it is now, just start sooner. JMHO
