Thanks for an excellent video, especially for newbees. I mix on an iMac but use an iPad for watching videos, so be sure to zoom in and out on screen capture detail.

I've found that the stock plugins are usually the best and encourages using as little processing as possible and also encourages creativity

Hi, in one of your videos you used a plug that would show the frequency profile. You would use a reference track as your guide and you would try to match that profile with a song you were mixing. Can you tell me what plug in that was? Thanks... I am enjoying your videos.

I guessed u used Reaper when I saw the Rea plugins in the email. I love Reaper but tried that theme and it totally confused me but I have never used a proper mixing desk which is what it;s based on isn;t it? Just briefly I saw the Tokyo Dawn and Variety of Sound and totally agree. They make terrific plugins and free!!! I've just subscribed to your channel and have had a lot of tips from RealHomeRecording and love the BedroomProducersBlog and their top ones are mostly the same as yours. And my mastering chain is pretty much all TDR and variety of Sound. I can't afford to see no need to spend hundreds of pounds on a plugin for what I do, make Hip Hop beats and the Black Friday 50% 75% discounts did make me think 'if you see what I mean'. Anyway I DJ too and that money goes on 70's soul vinyl from Discogs, much nicer thing to spend it on :-) Anyway will watch your vid now as I have never used a gate or a dynamic equaliser (but I have that TDR one in my folder. Their Slick EQ is nice too btw

+Andy Hinton Thanks for the comment Andy, ya this theme could be confusion at first. Because this project was so large, I needed a theme that has a easy way to see all my tracking levels. As long as your screen is big enough it works well. Its like anything, what works for some may not for other, and yet everything takes a learning curve.

+Home Music Studio 1 yeah it's the most unlike the default theme and I have a big screen and it does look cool (not a great reason for trying it but I bet that;s why it's popular haha). I settled for Rea-volution 2 or whatever it's called which takes some ideas from the one u use. It's best not to keep changing anyway as I learn new things about Reaper almost every day. I'm making a sort of abstract hip hop track and put in an extra bar with a loop that is a cool little trick then I thought, hmmm what if I could change the tenpo and slow it down 15 bpm for that bar. Thought about all sorts of ways then googled it and of course it's so easy. There is a tempo envelope if you view the master track and you just make your points and pull it down. Does sound cool :-) I haven't tried the Reacomp as somehow when I bought Focusrites cheapest interface, its not that cheap but still I got a plugin bundle and it said it was their Scarlet Range (which is pretty nice) but they also included the Red Range, not sure if it was a mistake (they cost over £200 in Pluginboutigue) and I love them as they give a lovely warm analogue sound but I've read it's useful to have one that doesn't colour the sound too and the Rea EQ is always mentioned. Will give it a try.
