The black cab operator was most famous in the Aussie drama Return to Eden as the villainous Jake Sanders in 1985. I remember him well & watching this episode.
@@Andy28548 Burnside shifted. For the first three seasons, the two names at the top were required to be John Salthouse (DI Galloway) and Eric Richard (Sgt Cryer). After Salthouse left, Sgt Cryer was always the first name in the credits if he appeared in the episode, even if he only had one line. (This was written into Eric Richards' contract.) This arrangement must have ended by Series 9, and no one in the cast was ever guaranteed top billing after that. The people at the top of the credits would be the cast regulars based on their significance to the episode, followed by guest actors in the same way.
I think Chris Ellison decided to leave and do something else. Richard Handford eventually offered him the chance to make occasional appearances again in the late '90s. By the time he left, he probably ranked alongside Cryer, Carver and Ackland as the most popular current characters on the show.
just saying, the 'estate ' concept of a roof is awful , like a warps nest, how many bedrooms in that palace stolen from Buckingham , what a place this is no wonder we have issues that are totally ignored , those who raise them receive death threats
Love watching these old episodes especially when you see old actors were all definitely getting and feeling old now

This episode is similar to the Scottish Ice cream wars.
I wonder why burnside left? Did the actor's contract expire or did he just leave the role?

He was too popular and they didn't like it.
