Tank Abbott was one of the most entertaining fighters to ever grace the octagon. Tough as hell, always going forward, and looking to knock someone stupid with every strike he threw.
Wasnt it Frye that had that had that absolute brawl with that giant Asian fighter? Where they literally just stood there and held each others head with the left hand and wailed away with the right?
Really impressed with Don but exchanging blows with Tank almost cost him the match. Tank must replay this fight in his mind as he was so damn close to getting a belt.
@@rommelthedesertfox3089 He was trading blows with Tank and likely would have lost if Tank didn’t trip. I am not saying Don could not have beaten Tank if he had evaded most of his blows until Tank wore himself out, just that a head to head was overly risky.
@michaels7566 Tank didnt slip Frye pressed forward & Tanks ankle turned. Tank had nothing left. Frye could have stayed on the feet with tank but grabbed the win. Hind sight he probably thinks the same. Tank already unloaded. Don was bloody but standing. Tank was the one in trouble. Even if Don let Tank up he would have won. There is a reason why this match has never been revisited. Its one sided every time
I remember seeing Tank Abbott benching 600 lbs. many years ago and thinking how ridiculous that was. That guy was a power house. If he'd have trained in wresting or even grappling a bit back in the day I wonder how much he'd have dominated.
It's crazy how close Tank was to winning that fight. The best of the best tournament was almost won by a fat bar fighter who has absolutely no respect for anyone's martial art.
Don Frye did horse shoeing on horse farm was not a actor...if you watch recent Joe Rogan pod cast with tank abbot he is unrecognizable tank I mean..and complains the whole episode..but he got choked...its best move in mma ...Hickson Gracie is the man.....😅
Yea, he 'slipped' because he is just a brawler, throwing punches wildly while being pushed back by Don Frye. I personally don't call that a slip, but whatever, he gassed himself quick on the guy that doesn't even concede when his arm is breaking. He wasn't beating Frye, he had his chance early when he rocked Don quickly, but if you don't get a knock out fast against Frye, it will just wake him up, which is what was happening. That is why after that Tank was on the back foot while Frye was constantly pushing forward, only a matter of time then!
I saw this live. Don Frye was voted the best all around fighter. He was absolutely phenomenal. Tank Abbott was nothing more than a fat bar fighter. Strong, but totally stupid.
Tank had Fry dead to rights until he slipped. The only thing stopping tank was his cardio. He almost knocked him out with a shovel jab, Tank should have been champ that night. Tank was the biggest thing going in the early days and doesn't get credit today. He could wrestle, he could box.
If you really look at Tank , he only ko'd guys to death that were B level fighters . And that seems to be the picture people remember him for . But in truth every time he fought anyone who was remotely good he always lost . Example Dan Severn . Vitor Belfort , Yoshida . He even was submitted by Kimo Leopaldo who was not considered a top fighter in his era .
Big John didn't ref UFC 1. Abbot was an accomplished wrestler. He trained with Tito. Theres no such thing as a pit fighter. Abbot made it up as a joke. Do you know anything about MMA history?
No fight was thrown. Try surviving an Achilles lock.
Frye was simply badass. As were most of these legends. Too bad Shamrock got hurt
💪 Awesomely nice trip down memory lane. I loved both don and tank. ❤️ Cracking good video thanks 🖤😎👍
are you a crackhead?
Frye Chin are of another World the Punchs of Tank are brutal the guy can KO 99,9% of Humanity in his Prime.
The entire planet was different back in those days. Good times.
Now this is UFC actual tough guys i love it

Sore loser, though.
Giving up because they lose top position and tired is wild…

it was
yes
Yes it was
Great video to a legendary card with no many iconic fighters.
tank abbott legend!
Don Frye even more of a legend
@@rommelthedesertfox3089 i love both, both are very unique, but ill stick with tank as a fan
Don Frye is a legend he could easily go toe to toe with tank
Wish that they would bring back the tournament fighting again 😔
Back in the days when men were MEN and the women were straight!.
9:24 Fireman's carry? More like a bodyslam
Really impressed with Don but exchanging blows with Tank almost cost him the match. Tank must replay this fight in his mind as he was so damn close to getting a belt.
Don could easily trade blows with tank he was an excellent striker

Tank don't give a shit ... ! He is in there to fight! Idiots!

Pretty sure he wrestled in college
Prime Tank vs Prime Lesnar if both had trained MMA since age 10 would've been a great match.
It's crazy how close Tank was to winning that fight. The best of the best tournament was almost won by a fat bar fighter who has absolutely no respect for anyone's martial art.
Shamrock and Frye both fought many more times in the UFC
BS Hall threw the fight... if he did, he is one hell of an actor... he should have done movies because Frye is a horrible actor... 😅
Don Frye did horse shoeing on horse farm was not a actor...if you watch recent Joe Rogan pod cast with tank abbot he is unrecognizable tank I mean..and complains the whole episode..but he got choked...its best move in mma ...Hickson Gracie is the man.....😅
the ONLY time Abbot EVER showed a lick of fighting ability.
Looked like Don pushed Tank down… Not a slip

No one called it a slip. "Loses balance and falls" which is accurate, because his feet are too close together as Frye pushes him.
Click bait title! You don't get to the fight in the title until about 11:00.
It literally says, the most talked about tournament, do you not know what a tournament is?
You trying to MMA vs Tank Abbot trying to turn your head into a souvenir for a lady in the 4th row.
If you wanna see this fight go to 11:05, and even then the fight is cut severely. But the beginning is "leading up to" the true fight bullshit...
So, no, Worsham was not mad at McCarthy. Worsham tapped out and was mad because Tank wouldn't stop fighting, and even taunted Worsham as he rose up.
I saw this live. Don Frye was voted the best all around fighter. He was absolutely phenomenal. Tank Abbott was nothing more than a fat bar fighter. Strong, but totally stupid.
I would love to see a video about Patricio Pinball MMA career in Bellator MMA
Frye was maybe the toughest guy ever to fight in spandex underwears.
Abbot taps. To toe holds
Zero clue dude
What a bla bla video. Clicked on this hoping to see more of the fight.
Tank was great at beating up retired prison guards and bouncers but Frye was a far more skilled opponent and deserved to win.
Deserved really lol explain that to this old fighter.
Always Love the Tanker... I was a Pat Smith Student in 1993..... Tiger Kim Denver Colorado
Wasn't he a pedophile?

@@SJ-ty5rw and he lost to don Frye. Tank had zero ground game
AI speech is horrible
ground game your cute words make me LMAO!!! Old UFC was Tuff...now just slap a Gay sound track behind it and it's GAY!!! and Funny as Hell to watch.
Scam

Don Frye is my most favorite next to Dan the beast Severn.
