I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any help you can give me!
@Kylen Leighton thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Really love your style of tutorial. For those of us with more experience, it's nice, straightforward and snappy without the tedious repetition that some tutorials have. Watched this once, and now will be able to make berets for anybody!
Glad it was helpful! I am for clear but concise. It might be too concise for some but I hope the people that need something repeated more than 2-3 times know they can stop and rewatch that part of the video.
I like how you decrease I've crocheted for 65 yrs . My mother taught classes in our house. Growing up I'd come home to a circle of women taking knitting & crocheting lessons. How techniques have changed. Tnk u
I've crocheted for over 40 years of my life. I've always free-hand crocheted, because I don't understand patterns. I've watched tutorials and they go so fast or they do stitches, but their hand blocks how to move the hook, so I'm still lost. Others go so fast, like the have a timer set. Yours is the first tutorial with a pattern, that I have understood. I cannot believe I am READING a PATTERN! Thank you so much for going slow, explaining what you are doing and showing us. I can read a pattern!
I am glad to hear that. You should check out my website. I have to abbreviate the patterns to fit on the video but normally my patterns are less abbreviated and easier for some to follow.
Thank you so much for putting the pattern instructions at the top while explaining what you're doing! Reading crochet patterns has always been a struggle for me, but something about who you put them in this video just made it click! My beret also turned out really well, so thank you for that as well ^.^
Every new crochet pattern I try for the first time, I screw up at some point. This pattern is the exception! I'm 2 rows into the decreasing part and haven't once had to unravel and restart! Thank you for this video and pattern. Your teaching style is amazing! Also, your magic ring is freaking brilliant! I always struggle with those too, and I never know why! Yours was so simple! And it stays tight! 100 times thank you!!! 😻😻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻
This pattern uses quite a few techniques and I would say it is not for beginners. It might be good for advanced beginners, which basically means someone who has mastered all the basic stitches and just needs to learn some of the other techniques. This project uses a magic circle (or ring), it is worked in joined rounds. It has increasing and decreasing and post stitches. This skills are easy to learn individual, but trying to learn them all at once could be overwhelming. I would look up and practice each of these skills individually first.
I love this pattern. I'm having fun making them and gifting them. I have different sizes of yarn I would like to use up could you tell me the measurements for the wide part of the hat for each size? Only because I am not sure I am aching the same size intended by your pattern. Thank you.
Winding Road Crochet thank you I haven't thought about that! I'm pretty much just eye balling it with an old ball of yarn and a 4mm hook haven't measured anything to be honest 😅 It's my first time working in a circle and I thought I was messing up the increases but maybe it is just me pulling to tight
For the adult size I read that it is 12 rows of increase. Would the decrease pattern stay the same? Starting with the 8 DC stitches, then 1 decrease? Or would that also be altered? Thank you! It’s my first hat project, and I’m very excited.
It is very very difficult to include more than one size in a video. I have been experimenting with it in my newer videos and I am still gathering feedback to see if the process is helpful or confusing.
What is the hat measurement when all done for the adult hat. I finished and it looks really huge. I used a weight of 4 yarn and my hook says g 4.50. I followed your pattern off of Pinterest.
If you used a #4 weight yarn it is mostly likely too large. I used a #3 weight yarn and #4 weight is double the thickness. Based on the gauge the Adult size hat when laying flat would have a 10 inch diameter and the circumference of the brim would be 20.5 inches.
i am a newbie and just starting this project, also english is my second language, so that's why i have little problems understanding all of it, do all sizes start the same? like the difference happens a few rows down the rows, right? i checked the link in the description but i am still confused about it, what do the numbers in paranthesis are? please be kind and help a fella newbie
The numbers in the parenthesis are the different sizes. The hat starts the same for all sizes but the larger hats have more increase rows to make them larger. They all have the same number of decrease rows.
@@WindingRoadCrochet just finished it tonight, i am so proud of myself and can't wait to wear it, i added a pompom for the christmasy vibes, many many thanks!!!
You could, you would just need to work less rows or it will turn out huge. Basically larger yarn and hook means larger hat. But the construction technique can be used with other yarns.
It depends on the size but the adult beret would just have more increase rows. Then you would work the same number of even rows and decrease rows and brim rows.
I would call it easy not beginner friendly. Mostly we only use double crochet, but you will work in joined rounds, you have to follow the pattern for the increases and we are working in the front and back lops for the brim. So I would label it easy but NOT a beginner pattern. That said some beginners maybe be up for the challenge and willing to learn the skills needed to complete it.
@@WindingRoadCrochet Oh okay thank you. I guess maybe I should wait a while and practice before doing this because I just started crocheting a few months ago and my tension control is also not that good. Anyways thanks. Ill come back to this after some practice and small projects.
For a sized item yes. A larger gauge (Less stitches per inch) means your hat will turn out larger. A smaller gauge (more stitches per inch) means your hat will turn out smaller than the size states.
In the last row before you work the brim, make a few more decreases. As long as you end up with an even stitch count at the end of the row you will be fine.

Thank you for the pattern I finished it today and turned out so lovely ,I did a slip stitch brim to make it a bit tighter 💗
Wonderful!
Love this pattern, really simple but effective. So, if I want to make an adult size, how many rows of increases should I make? Thanks
For the adult size you will increase for 12 rows.
Great tutorial, beautiful little model 🥰
Thanks so much 😊
Pretty colors. Love your hook.
Thanks. It is a furls streamline hook.
I'll have to come back to this once I've practised a bit more bc I had no idea what you were doing at any point 😂😭

I loved it.. My personal favorite 😍
Wonderful!
Great video! Im using a bulky yarn and want to know how wide the hat is before the 3 rows of dc's.
What size are you making? I can tell you that 6 rows gives you a diameter of 5 inches. So 12 rows would be a diameter of 10 inches.
@@WindingRoadCrochet I'm making a womans size. Is a 10 inch flat circle a good place to start to decrease.? Ty so much
it's beautiful :))liked it
Thank you.
Hi! I'm having a little problem - my circle folds up on the edges and starts looking like a bowl. Do you have any advice? :)
It sounds like your tension might be too tight. You can try crocheting looser or maybe use a larger hook. What is your gauge?
Winding Road Crochet thank you I haven't thought about that! Thank you! It’s my first hat project, and I’m very excited.
Yes it would be altered. So if your last increase row was 12 DC, inc then your first decrease row will be 12 DC, decrease.
Love the way u showed the written pattern.but one thing u didn't say fo grownups, how to do it.
It is very very difficult to include more than one size in a video. I have been experimenting with it in my newer videos and I am still gathering feedback to see if the process is helpful or confusing.
Me : i have a need for a mushroom themed beret
This tutorial : let me fill your need
Lol glad it helped
hello! thanks for such easy to follow tutorial. i would like to ask, is it possible if i use a polyester yarn? with 3,5 hook
If you use a smaller hook then the hat will come out smaller so you may need to make a larger size than you intended. It will take some experimenting.
Is the gauge for this pattern worked in rounds or rows ?
I make the gauge swatch in rows.
What is the hat measurement when all done for the adult hat. I finished and it looks really huge. I used a weight of 4 yarn and my hook says g 4.50. I followed your pattern off of Pinterest.

Can this work with a size 4 yarn and an H hook?
You could, you would just need to work less rows or it will turn out huge. Basically larger yarn and hook means larger hat. But the construction technique can be used with other yarns.
If I only did 8 rows the decrease would be the same or different?
If you only do 8 rows of increases and then the even rows then decrease you will have a smaller hat. (Assuming you gauge is the same.)
do you know how much yarn this would take for an adult size?
Around 378 yards.
Could someone tell this beginner why my increasing circle looks wavy edged and doesn’t lie flat? What am I doing wrong
I would count your stitches to make sure you are not adding too many stitches.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you! I’m a beginner and found I was misinterpreting thr instructions 🙈
I tried this pattern and it turned out huge?! What did I do wrong?
Did you check your gauge? If you crochet looser than I do then your hat will turn out bigger. 11 DC X 6 Rows = 2.5 inches
Hi may I ask what's the crown diameter?
The sample in the video is a child's size and has an 18 inch diameter brim. There are other sizes with the written pattern.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you so much😍
@@WindingRoadCrochet correct me if iam wrong but I think the measurements should be in cms not in inches
What would be the patter for an adult beret
It depends on the size but the adult beret would just have more increase rows. Then you would work the same number of even rows and decrease rows and brim rows.
Hey! Is it okay if I make this beret and sell it?
Yes you are allowed to sell the finished project.
Hi, i have little confusion for Row 1, you said 3 chain and 12 dc. So it means it has a total of 13chains?
I do not count my turning chain as a stitch. You will only count 12 stitches. At the end of row 2 you will have 24 sts.
@@WindingRoadCrochet thank you🥰 then for slip stitch, to the first dc not on the 3chain right?
A doubt: Is it beginner friendly?
I would call it easy not beginner friendly. Does the gauge really matter?
For a sized item yes. A larger gauge (Less stitches per inch) means your hat will turn out larger. A smaller gauge (more stitches per inch) means your hat will turn out smaller than the size states.
What size yarn is used in the clip?
It is a size 3 Lightweight yarn. The yarn is Lion Brand Mandala.
how do i make the brim tighter?
In the last row before you work the brim, make a few more decreases. As long as you end up with an even stitch count at the end of the row you will be fine.
You could downsize your hook just to work the brim
