I visited the Parthenon in early 2020(just before Covid) and trust me when you stand infront of the Temple of Athena, you can't help but be overwhelmed by emotions, thinking about how beautiful of a structure it must have been, the architects who must have toiled for years to create something so magnificent and then due to the folly of some selfish bastards all that was reduced to rubble. Yet, despite all that Man and Nature have thrown at it, the Parthenon still stands, as if trying to tell us that, "Look! I have stood for thousands of years, in the hope that when you look at me you will understand what wonders you are capable of and also of what horrors you can inflict... I was created with love and destroyed by hatred!"
It’s sad that the Parthenon survived more or less intact until the 17th century, when the defenders of Athens thought it was a good idea to make a gunpowder storage out of it in the middle of a siege. Kaboom! Otherwise the building would have survived as the Pantheon did in Rome
if you want to tell a strory at least tell it right. The Turks used it as a gunpowder storage facility because they thought noone would blow up such a iconic building until the venetians did just that
I'm my research I also came upon that apparently in the 19th century when they restored it the did an awful job partly because they used metal to hold the stone together. So metal rusted and expanded and cracked the stone even further :O
(I know I'm late) it was actually the ottomans who stored gunpowder into the parthenon. Way back during the byzantine empire, the parthenon was an orthodox church and when athens was occupied by the ottomans it became a mosque

I really like, and appreciate, how in-game the theatre of Dionysos is trapezoidal, not semi-circular, and has wooden benches and a wooden skene. This is accurate for the late 5th century, in which this game is set. The semi-circular form with stone benches came only several decades later during the 4th century. Props to the game developers for going into such detail and conducting such meticulous research. That said, the capitals on the columns of the temple of Zeus are actually anachronistic, as they were only added much later. But it's just a minor niggle! ;-)
