I'm not questioning your musical expertise, so I'm sure the musical term "madrigal" is accurate (It so perfectly fits the family), but I've always referred to that section of the piece as "The Dogfight".

She wants rainbow hair and spike earrings. Lol She wants to know what ELSE she can do. That’s she reason her prophecy seems out of place in the song. It’s not. It’s a nightmare for her because she’s not getting the life of her dreams yet. She’s not seeing her powers grow yet. She’s a glorified flower girl and she hates it. That’s my theory.

I just realised that at the part where they have the umbrellas out in the wedding scene, the umbrellas are red, blue and yellow (🔴🔵🟡). The movie is based on Colombian culture and the Colombian flag has the colours red, blue and yellow(🇨🇴) on it. So the umbrellas' colours are in the same order as they are in the flag. I just think it's a nice symbolic way to hint to Colombia.

This song....so fantastically done. Also, can I just love on Stephanie Beatriz as Mirabel?? I adored her as Rosa in Brooklyn 99 and she was fantastic in In The Heights. But she just blew me away in this movie. (I hadn't realized Lin-Manuel Miranda was involved in the movie but I asked around during "Surface Pressure" because I swear the music sounded like his. This song sealed it and I looked it up for confirmation. LOL

Definitely recommend watching the song-along/lyric version of this that Disney put out for the soundtrack. Gives a better idea of who is singing what at the end, and there’s an interesting overlap between Dolores and Isabela (the girl with the whispered rap (voiced by Adassa) and the flower girl (voiced by Diane Guerrero)). 😃

Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the script and the songs for In The Heights, but the movie was directed by Jon Chu. For Encanto, he wrote the songs. He directed his first movie last year called Tick, Tick... Boom.

Just gonna keep letting it grow. No, I’m not using any special products. Actually no products, other than washing it once a week with shampoo and conditioner. It gets dry if I wash it more, the body’s natural oils make it softer than any product could

The credit is not all Lin-Manuel's. He did write the song (and he is talented, I'm not arguing that), but Jamal Sims did the choreography (the video's on RUclips), and the directors led the adapting of said choreography into the movie.
