- Happy New Year from Baltimore Heritage! We are back with the first Five Minute Histories video of 2022 and we feature Fort Armistead-a fascinating fort-turned-park to explore if you need to get out of the house! Thanks for watching and we’ll see you again next week!
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." We record short videos about different historic places all over Baltimore and post them on our Facebook page, RUclips channel, and website. For more information or to become a member of Baltimore Heritage, check out: baltimoreherit...
These are beautifully done-thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you for watching and supporting!
Thank for you letting everyone know about the great history in this park, and that makes it even more shameful that it's been left to become a center of drug and sex activity. Never go there alone, and never at night. I hope someone or some organization restores this park in the future.
We picked the same day to explore Ft Armistead. I realized I had never visited the park and it a snow day seemed like the perfect time, It's in pretty sad shape, definitely forgotten by the city. Perhaps Starscape took it's toll and the city has left it to mother nature.
Nice vid thanks didn’t know Hawkins point was a neighborhood
Thank you, Johns!
Happy new year! I had never heard of this fort/park before!
Great video thank you
I generate the bulk of the content for my youtube channel at this park, it is a great place to watch ships coming and going. I do also love the fort part of the park but I would advise watching where you step because there are some holes in the concrete which would take you quickly and unpleasantly to some of the lower areas.
Oh yeah I’ve seen your stuff - great work.
@@bmoreonthewater152 Thank you!
I did a video of the tunnels a few years back. That video is still on my channel.
RIP Key Bridge
The one thing that would improve the place is to cut down all those trees at least near the shore and restore it to grass. In the 80s, it used to also smell bad there due to all the chemical companies and Sparrows Point plants but that has been greatly reduced. Yes, it does have problems as mentioned and don't back into a parking space because you will get solicited as that is a sign you want "something". I don't think AA County is interested but I wonder if the city could turn it over to them like they did with Fort Smallwood.
Next Fort Carroll
On our list!
I heard that the tunnels are haunted. Is that true?
From the many times I’ve been in and around them I never heard anything strange
Super super super sketchy place in the warmer months people stripping cars and other sketchy sketchy shit. There are creeps in those bunker holes that's all I'm saying.
Wait, he's *THE* Johns Hopkins!?😮
